Another reason to consider not buying is that their support system can not handle it. Unfortunately I preordered the game and I got my first response 2 weeks after asking for a refund and it was just an automated emai asking me to reconsider. And now the wait continues. An always online game with accounts, a real money item shop, where your status can be corrupted on the server needs a much more responsive support. If it goes the full MMO route I would argue they need GMs in the game.

I have some Arma2 mods that fail to update or be diagnosed and if I delete them fail to download. @ccp, @fsf_jungle, @mis_gulfofaqeba, @rg_true_gameplay, @rg_true_user, @saku_ai_driver, @sti_a10, @tgw_thermal_scopes, @tgw_zeroing. Also some addons show a wrong file size, less than 1 KB. -
Steam - Error An error while updating Arma 3 (invalid depot config)
tonygrunt replied to nevbox's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Had the same problem with Rome Total War Gold, with the steam client running I temporarily renamed the game folder ("\Rome Total War Gold" > "\Rome Total War Gold!" and uninstalled the game. Renamed the game folder to its original name and reinstalled the game, it discovered the game files and the problem was gone. If you do the same thing for Arma 3 (development version) it will probably find many files changed (due to frequently updates) and you will have to redownload them. Just a theory but this has probably something to do with corrupted .acf files. -
How to change Arma 3 branches between STABLE & DEVELOPMENT versions @STEAM client
tonygrunt replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
If you are talking about my method, I use it and except having to download any updates like everyone else there is no problem. You mention changing branch from the beta option, you shouldn't have to do it as the branch option is saved in the appmanifest_107410.acf file. You need one appmanifest_107410.acf file for the stable folder and one for the beta folder and when changing between beta/stable make sure you don't mix them. -

Almost every addon (around 40) I tried to update came with an error: "Collection was modified, enumeration operation may not execute." or "Index was out of range must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection in C#" I spammed :) some bug reports to you yesterday and tried reinstalling after deleting everything PWS related (.exe, everything in user profiles) besides addon and synq folders but it didn't help. Especially the @ags addon for Arma 2 brings a different error, "Exception, no source found with @ags": And a cosmetic bug, when I start to download an update for a brief moment the percentage bottom left is displayed as "NaN%". -
A plea to BI: Please let us choose when to update. Automatic updates break the game.
tonygrunt replied to Drumheller's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Maybe it would be possible for BI to push the previous stable build to the beta selection menu with each new stable build (no need to keep all stable builds there just the previous one). Then if anything broke people could revert to the previous build until they could fix their addons and missions with the latest stable. -
Link to the latest 1.7.0025 beta patch doesn't work.

Steam has the latest beta patch (1.7.0025) and you should be able to activate your serial there. -
A2 OA CD Mechanical damage
tonygrunt replied to danny96's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
This is how Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA show up in steam, there is no Arma 2 CO entry. If both games are correctly installed by steam when you start Arma 2 OA it would start as Arma 2 CO. The usual correct way is to start steam as administrator, install Arma 2, install Arma 2 OA, start Arma 2, start Arma 2 OA. If you already started Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA and have problems, close steam, start steam as administrator and Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache for both games. In the end Arma 2 OA should detect Arma 2 and start as Arma 2 CO. -
ARMA 2: OA Beta build 116523 - Steam Mp Lobby (1.63 build, Steam only)
tonygrunt replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Nothing is wrong, choose INTERNET. From ARMA 2: OA Beta build 124879 - Steam Mp Lobby (1.63 build, Steam only): GS (GameSpy) has been removed and there is no need to distinct between the 2 lobbys (GAMESPY or STEAM) so the steam lobby was renamed to INTERNET. -
Cannot downgrade ARMA 2 OA to 1.62
tonygrunt replied to Odyssey's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
It's possible that he manually mixed the beta files with the game, making the game have mismatched files and confusing the installer. Or it could be a problem coming from duplicate files in windows virtualstore. You could compare if he has the same files with you. -
Cannot downgrade ARMA 2 OA to 1.62
tonygrunt replied to Odyssey's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If you want to run the 1.62.103419 beta then Delete the Local Content for "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead Beta" which will remove the beta provided by steam and install ARMA2_OA_Build_103419.zip. You will then have to start Arma 2 OA via shortcut or launcher as you won't have a beta entry in steam anymore. Beta 1.62.103419 is not provided in steam anymore, yours being at that version is not the norm. -
Cannot downgrade ARMA 2 OA to 1.62
tonygrunt replied to Odyssey's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
1.62.95248 is 1.62 stable and the lowest you can go on steam. If you want the most recent 1.62 beta choose beta108074 from steam. If you want any other beta between the most recent beta and 1.62 stable you will have to download it and install it from the arma beta depot. If you still have problems tell us the exact number of the build version you want. -
Cannot downgrade ARMA 2 OA to 1.62
tonygrunt replied to Odyssey's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Steam has two Arma 2 OA entries, "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead" which is the latest stable version (1.62) and "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead Beta" which is the latest beta (1.63.116523). Either launch Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead to run 1.62 stable or you can revert to the latest 1.62 beta from the Betas tab under properties of "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead Beta". You could also uninstall "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead Beta" and use any of the betas from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php. -
I interpret their statement of don't buy it because it's a developer version as the fact that they don't want to offer any support for it as it is not ready for the common consumer, being hardware or software. If you need tech support or experience any problems, by their TOS it's your problem, maybe the check box is a way to legally circumvent the need to offer support and to keep less tech savvy people from buying one and failing to make it work. The only developers remark can also be used against early negative reviews as the product is not final and consumer ready. If they really wanted to limit rift going only to developers and select people there are better ways than a check box, other companies have managed it. And next version of anything is almost always going to be way better!

What version of Arma2 OA did you buy? If you bought the download version you should have a download button and a cd key. As I don't have Arma2 OA in the BI store it might be that due to the recent move to using steam as a master server and enabling retail keys to activate there, that they removed the download button leaving steam as the only way to get the game. If you bought the steam version you have only an one time activation key that you use to redeem the game on your steam account. Once redeemed there, the code is never used again and you have to use your steam account to download the game. Recently BI store switched to activating a game by linking your steam account, no activation key is visible then.

Dev kits won't become obsolete just because the commercial device is out, they will still be supported and usable, no software developer will avoid selling to tens of thousands of dev kit owners and support only the latest model. And eventually you have to make the decision to buy something (see how newer graphics cards are announced every 6 months), it's very possible by the time the commercial device is out another company might have announced a better specs device or Oculus might soon after announce their development plans for a wireless Rift. Are you going to wait for it too?

Arma2 OA beta has functional server listing using steam. I expect the next major patch will finalize the transition, maybe one of the reasons that BI was holding it back.

gamespy shutdown on May 31st...
tonygrunt replied to moosemilker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Latest beta on steam enables steam server listing. You can now redeem your retail key of Arma 2, Arma 2 OA, DLC in steam so you can get the steam server functionality. I am still not sure what they use for authentication (their own key server or steam account authentication) and if battlleye is in anyway affected by this move (will a battleye ban in Dayz/Arma 3 affect Arma 2 or Arma 2 affect Dayz/Arma 3?). -
ARMA 2: OA Beta build 116523 - Steam Mp Lobby (1.63 build, Steam only)
tonygrunt replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
You can now use your retail key to activate the game in steam. From the recent Bohemia Interactive's 15th Anniversary announcement: So activate on steam and buy the DLC there while the sale is running. -
Maybe related, an update was pushed today in steam that changed DTA\misc.pbo. Changes were in gamespy.pac, its size went from 11049 bytes to 291 bytes.

My CPU (6 core @4.7GHz) uses all cores so if you are seeing only usage in one core that is not the norm. Or was you observation a hyperbole remark for the game not maxing all cores at 100%? Then even somehow adding the core usages to max out cores it would still come at least 2 cores full usage and possibly more if my overclocking was dropped. Not to add the possibly overhead from your OS and other programs running in the background. I can safely say if I run Arma 3 in my PC with only 1 core enabled it would run way worse than with all the cores enabled. If you really seeing a problem with cpu usage in Arma 3 post more info for us to help you troubleshoot it, if it is another thread pointing out that cpu doesn't reach 100% then I would guide you to post about it at Low CPU utilization & Low FPS.

Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
tonygrunt replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I have an objection here regarding your advice about his RAM, his CPU uses quad channel for RAM so for his case it has better performance. @GrillsBears, you could try lowering your graphics details a bit as your 2GB of VRAM could be a limit. I have an almost similar setup with yours but with GTX680 4GB and with a resolution of 2560*1440 (which is about half of yours) my VRAM usage goes up to 3GB. One more vote from me for Sneakson's suggestion to overclock as that is what had the most impact to Arma, you could disable HT to make it a bit easier to achieve a low temperature/Vcore overclock. Running my 3930k at 4.7GHz, HT off and Vcore at 1.4v. -

The problem with tbbmalloc not working is that your parameter is incorrect, you must omit the .dll extension. Corrected, it should be: "O:\Arma 3\SteamApps\common\Arma 3\arma3.exe" -nosplash -window -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -showScriptErrors -skipintro -malloc=tbbmalloc -mod= -
New to Arma 3 and FPS on PC, need your advices and opinion.

I had 2 G700(not G700s) and it will last for less than 10 hours(think around 8) if I was playing all day (12 hour continuous play), you will have to plug it every day to avoid an empty battery. Both lasted around 1 year each before developing microswitch problems in the primary button but in their defense they both had drops from my desk. I have now the G602 that lasts around 2+ months with a pair of batteries but it too started having problems with the scroll button microswitch. I haven't experienced any problems with lag. -
ARMA 2: OA Beta build 116523 - Steam Mp Lobby (1.63 build, Steam only)
tonygrunt replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
The 1.62 stable coexists with the 1.63 beta, and you can always launch it. The beta option is for those that want to downgrade the 1.63 beta to the latest 1.62 beta.
