  1. Personally, I think that Danger 5 is far far better where it concerns comedy and visual style... and it has Nazi Dinosaurs.
  2. Hey there hard-chargin' Sapper! Are you planning on adding a multi-cam texture in the near future?

  9. My knees are blown out, no doubt about it. It comes with the territory. That said, I was a Infantryman in the Corps and I'm a CE in the Army. I love the Engineer side of the house... wouldn't give it up for anything. It's going to differ but not by much and resembles a infantry platoon/squad breakdown. My suggestion would be to look up FM 3-21.8 as my "suggestions" would be a little off SOP wise. It should be section 1-11 or 1-16, I don't recall off the top of my head. EDIT- Here ya go. http://www.marines.mil/news/publications/Documents/FM%203-21.8%20%20The%20Infantry%20Rifle%20Platoon%20and%20Squad_1.pdf The type of plate carriers differ when it concerns the EOD guys. Sometimes they utilize the IOTV (plate carrier and frag protection) that we all are issued, more often then not though, they only wear a plate carrier which is either issued or another type purchased via unit funds. Plate carrier example: Notice it only holds the ballistic plates (front/rear and sides) and has no frag protection. http://www.optactical.com/pasowiarr.html The currently issued IOTV all Soldiers receive: Photo is in the upper left hand corner (don't worry about the DAPs, we rarely utilize them). http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/iotv-interceptors-incremental-improvement-03381/ We still have them, a lot of them in-fact. However, given the terrain of Afghanistan, they usually stay at home simply because they become more of a hindrance then anything.
  10. Meh, I love this s#@t! I've only ever read about the Engineer version of the Brad (EBFV), but I've never actually encountered one and I've been in light and heavy units. My unit has several M113's however, we've never deployed with them. As for the ACE and Grizzly, well, that's outside my job description. I'm a Combat Engineer and those belong to the Engineer Heavy Equipment Operators or 12N's. We're back to being 12B's now. Some units might have the Javelin but I've yet to encounter those that actually do employ them. The RCLR recoilless systems have been phased out but we've been using the LAW on the regular. Our primary weapons are the M4, Mk-14 EBR, 249, and 240B. Of my four deployments, only in one have I actually performed the typical engineer mandate i.e. Route Clearance. The rest were typically serving in a infantry role. Might wanna get away from the Bradley aspect. Our primary vehicles are usually the RG-31, Buffalo MRAP, Caiman MRAP, 1151, etc with the rollers in the lead vehicle. I think you've hit it about right, though some aspects could be tweaked. I could go into a MTOE but they are always changing. Unless you really want me to do that? The EOD cats (89D) typically wear ERSH plate carriers only, so they always standout among the RA. M4's, 249's, 240's, HK-416's, the M107 etc, are there weapons load-outs they take on mission with them.
  11. EOD has always done their own thing and are never assigned to a line unit. As of now, they fall under SOCOM with branch managers still with USAOC. I've worked with them in Iraq and Afghanistan and they are a dedicated group of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines to be sure. You need to remember that the gear they wear is totally different from what we typically wear, to include the weapon systems utilized. If you need help with this addon on the technical side let me know. FYI - The M728 was phased out a long time ago. To answer your question, yes. I am a Combat Engineer. http://www.bragg.army.mil/sorb/EOD.htm

IIRC mate, this was the only route I could go and that was as of May 2011. That said, I could be wrong and they may have alternate methods of payment as of now. I suspect that a direct deposit is a no-go simply from a corporate financial standpoint. If you have any other questions let us know, we'll be more then happy to answer them. I'm sure you'll be getting quick responses seeing as how you're in OZ and it's still early there. Make sure you register on the forum once you are approved.

Unfortunately yes, that's how it done simply due to the typical customer being a GO and the financial routes involve a totally different aspect of how money changes hands (contracts etc). My suggestion would be to do what I did and send the numbers sequence broken down; i.e. the first 8 digits in one email and the next 8 in another, or however you wanna do it. It's just smart seeing how emails and the data within can be intercepted by outside sources.
  14. I take it the EOD teams are separate from the Sapper elements and are not considered a component of the Engineer Plt?

It's all dependent upon what you are utilizing it for. Ultimately, it's a tool set for training military forces in complex scenarios, everything from asymmetric/COIN to conventional combat operations and more. It does have quite a lot going for it that the ArmA series doesn't; flawless optimization and scaling, massive variety in content, in-depth scenario editing tools, a spectacularly supported development suite unlike anything ArmA has to offer, and a ton of excellent user generated content... but only if you are able to access it (see milgaming.army.mil) That said, the fascination for me wore off rather quickly (several months perhaps) even with the hundreds of available third-party addons, VBS2 lay dormant on my HD eventually being uninstalled some months later. There was a close knit MP community at one time that played quite often, but that's since faded into history unfortunately.

I can't seem to find the link for the direct download. What sub-forum is it in (i.e. serious games etc)? EDIT - I found it. Wow, that is a lot of files. The GYBBK aspect seems like a convoluted process if there ever was one. If I can't figure it out I'll shoot ya a PM.

It has to be an issue on my end, W0lle. I tossed disc 1 into my laptop and it launched automatically so I honestly have no idea as to what the issue is as other DVD's are working just fine. Putting in the DVD, it'll gronk-gronk, as if in an earnest attempt at reading the disc (and for a long time, knowing there is something to be read) - ultimately determining the disc is not really there. Ugh... The 1.5 patch? If that's the case, wouldn't I need 1.4 already installed? If not, could you shoot me a link, I appreciate it.

Ahem... free it is then... thanks much for the link Papanowel. @ Papanowel & W0lle I could use some help here. I already posted this on the official VBS2 support sub-forum, but maybe you two could be of greater and more expedient help. I recently re-installed Win7 and everything appears to be working correctly. However, the DVD drive isn't reading every disc as some work and others appear blank (VBS2 for a re-install). I was hoping someone could point me to a driver or a firmware update somewhere that can remedy this. I've tried looking and my results have been nil at this point. DVD-ROM: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT34N It states that the driver is up to date however, I know that isn't true (2006). Secondly, the details panel reads it as a CD-ROM drive which of course it isn't. Any ideas here as I'd really like to re-install VBS2? Disregard - It is apparently the VBS2 disc's. Other DVD software is installing/working fine. Hold up.... does VBS2 contain a install disc by itself then disc 1, 2, 3, and then the Dev Suite? Again, it's been a long time since I've toyed around with it and I can't recall.

I haven't touched my copy of VBS2 in some time. That said, whats the word on the upgrade (2.0)? Is it going to be offered as free or are we going to have to pay for it? Also, anyone wanna comment on how they made such a stink about how high-end graphics detract from the training aspects, then they go and do it themselves? Seems like a double standard to me.
  20. Yeah, I nearly fell outta my chair when it started playing. :D
  21. No worries here, Mc. Go ahead.

  23. Working where and when I can is about all I can add. My current military obligations typically suck up a great deal of my time, even more so lately as we spin up for another deployment. I have the TBIED's or Tree Borne IED's in a working fashion, however limited and am more so concerned with how a player would emplace them at present. Still working on that second video.
