Crowdsourced Hardcore Tactical Shooter
DetCord replied to Nutlink's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Agreed. I would love to see a R6 or OGR spiritual successor. I think that is a happy middle ground and two games I thoroughly enjoyed and still play to this day. That said, I have my suspicions that what these guys have planned isn't anything like that, but I could be wrong. -

Their initial response was to call those that pointed it out, and I quote; "Trolls". They (the CEO himself) then called said concept art, "paintings that mimic photographs". Please. I pulled my pledge following that initial response. These guys reek of absolute scumbaggery. @ Flogger I have a feeling what most people consider a tac-shooter isn't going to be the final product, if it ever sees the light of day that is. -

@ Messiah BAF huh? Nicely avoiding the remainder of the models in ArmA, ArmA II, and OA. Good job deflecting, you should be a politician. For your edification, all of the vehicle models from BAF are from said mil-sim. I'd be more than happy to show you RPAT for RPAT if need be. Furthermore, to avoid said licensing constraints (which has been done in the past), all that is needed is to change a rivet here and there, an optical sights preclusion, a CSW, or any facet thereof. I've been with this series since 2001, I've been modding since 2006, and I've owned said military version of ArmA since 2009. I do think I've got a decent handle on things, mate. @ paecmaker Oh yes... I was waiting for this one. It is a common misconception that the German Forces utilized Soviet weapon systems in great numbers, it is based upon uninformed and or lackadaisical stupidity on the part of the individual stating as such. The OKW did indeed appropriate RKKA material, however, said material was only utilized when production in the RPIA was essentially falling apart. In fact, official German and Soviet documents point to a equivalency of Soviet arms (heavy weapon systems) utilized by German forces to equal that of a Battalion level element. Point moot. Feel free to do your own research as the records are readily available online now. So, unless the Iranians are dying at the cyclic rate and losing, it still doesn't pan out.

I can get behind that. Especially seeing as how most of the models in the ArmA series are hi-res retex's from a certain military version of the game, (I have it, I should know) and it can't be that hard to do. We're talking about NATO's domain here, it really should be a Leopard or Challenger.

There are plenty of Iranian produced components. They have their own MBT, IFV, APC, and small-arms weapons designs now, and a few advanced ones in the pipe. Hypotheticals have nothing to do with it. It is however Iranian ideology first and foremost. Something most around here can't seem to get their heads around. Iranians in Israeli vehicles is like Hitler and Nelly Sachs acting in a play together.

Ditto. Regardless of how anyone wants to play the ArmAverse card, from a TO&E standpoint, it is stupid and the imbecility of it leaves me somewhat speechless. However, it's been discussed ad-nauseum up to this point.

Do we have to upgrade our HASP keys for 1.60 (assuming so)? I don't see any documentation saying as much.

Task Force 86 - Dynamic SF Co-Op

Is TF86 still around? Their website has been down for awhile now and I can't get in touch with any of them. -
Asymmetric Warfare Components
DetCord replied to DetCord's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Do you mean by the mission maker? If so then, yes. However, the complexity of the level of concealment will be a little lower than that of a player actually doing it themselves (OPFOR). -

DetCord replied to DetCord's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Sorry for the latency, my unit has been in the field. I'm using the models included in both, yes. That said, I have my own devices that can be concealed by debris and or the environment. The player will have the ability to bury and conceal most of the devices, minus of course the larger ones made up of UXO such as aerial bombs and the IED's composed of large amounts of HME. Furthermore, the player will also be able to conceal the devices by placing environmental and man-made objects over, under, and around them (tires, foliage, etc). -

Thanks for putting that up. I use ACE and didn't even know that was part of it... ahem. Let the testing begin. -

OPSEC wise, I honestly thought you were asking for TTP's. That is a no-no. I'm looking at trying to add something like the AN/PSS-12 Mine Detector. However, I'm absolute shit at modeling and wouldn't even wanna touch on attempting to animate said object/character if I even got a working representation in-game. It makes my head hurt thinking about it. ;) As for the Hurl Locker... I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. It's utter nonsense mate, plain and simple. On that note - Just finished up something I think you guys might find interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdfPUYnzjP0 -

@ XxEnigmAxX I'm working on basic disarm scripts, but certainly nothing fancy. I'm not very good at the more complex scripting aspects. @ Robster Nope. Violates OPSEC. I've never encountered a device that couldn't be defeated. Technically speaking, they can all be avoided. As with the real deal... sometimes you get lucky and then again sometimes you don't. This modification while certainly "workable" in COOP, would most likely be better utilized in a TvT environment. This is purely my own observation. They can all be disarmed so to speak. Whether that is by physically attempting to do so, or by destroying the device/devices in place with a charge. I'm looking into that right now. The majority of the devices will be visible to the naked eye, minus of course the DBIED's which will necessitate the Husky with a RCP to detect it. @ ray243 A good portion of the explosions in the video were 85mm or below but yes, I am working on the more difficult to spot, smaller devices. That said, you need to understand how IED's work and how the forces that employ them think. Their mentality is; you either go big or you go home as the bigger the device, the more of a chance there is to inflict maximum damage and destruction to both equipment and personnel. -

DetCord replied to DetCord's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Slowly... very slowly but most assuredly... it is progressing. Thus far, I've been able to implement most, if not all of the ideas I had for the modification. Some aspects still need a lot of work, such as objects being completely destroyed (i.e. trees, vehicles, personnel, etc) so I'm still looking for a solution or workaround for some of these problem areas. That said, here is a new videos featuring the new devices for AWC. -
