    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

Fantastic work on the rifle and jeep, as always men. The hand weapons are showing their age a bit now, I think I'm right in saying the models go back to ofp times - so they have had a good long life. I hope these models equally have a long and much enjoyed life by the community - maybe another 10 years  I still hope we get to see your M10 tank destroyer at some stage Marcel, really looking forward to that!!!

Well, I've been using this nice addon for some time now - but once you unpack the RAR's you should have a folder called "@sum_rep_1.0" which enables you to use the addon in the mod folder tradition. I personally like to use Alpinestars excellent AmA 2 launcher to manage my addons and mod folders. You can enable or disable a mod when launching the game with a tick of a box, instead of having to manually alter your shortcut parameters. I highly recommend it; http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6649
  3. I've found that the Cromwell and T-34 refuse or are unable to fire their main weapons. Usually I've found that using a combination of "OdenBIS Config Addon" and "ASR AI" mods, the ai gunners usually select the correct fire mode - not with these unfortunately. They also aim their mg's much lower than the target at which they are aiming... Also I'm getting "Cannot open object csa38ii_tracked\t_optic\optika_lt34_gunner3.p3d" But they do look great in-game!
  4. Thank you very much for these Petr, I've been looking forward to these, especially the Cromwell's. It would be nice if I44 adopted the Cromwell's - as the modelling is very much next generation standard, and have a lot of potential life to them. I hope they get fully utilized... :bounce3:

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

I suppose you could now add STEAM as a system requirement...

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

Do you think we're on the slippery slope to pay per play, even if you only want to spend 5 minutes in the editor?

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

The last time I had STEAM installed, it persisted in being ever-present in my registry and bombarding me with special offers and adverts - that's similar to a virus is it not? Maybe I'm wrong...

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

Enad, I'm a strictly off-line gamer - I see you are not. Unless STEAM has changed a lot since I last had it installed, if you are an off-line gamer it behaves indistinguishably from a VIRUS.

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

Absolute STEAMing pile of shite. So we have to voluntarily have a virus on our pc's to own and run the game. Not much point of buying a physical copy of the game is there? Similar to ClOD, a physical copy was just smoke and mirrors.
  10. Now the next patch for ClOD is truly an eternal "two weeks". :D

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

Okely Dokely, I was trying to get a bit closer to something this: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205188966 Once tanks had been in the 'field' for a bit, especially in dry, dusty places like Normandy 44 and Italy as the pic above - they did tend to look a bit colorless and washed out. With the allied armor looking like something between Olive-drab and grey...

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

Done. Regarding the Churchill it's always bothered me how dark it looks in-game, and the shade of green looks a bit odd - no offense to the original creator, they've done a great job - but I've taken the liberty of tweaking the textures for it in Photoshop, shadow/highlight, saturation and whatnot. Would you be interested in me sending the texture to you with a view to replacing the original if you see fit? I think the below matches the Sherman's a lot better and doesn't look as odd when used together.

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

Hi Pac, the bit about saving mission before preview seems to have done the trick with the effects, they're working now - I seem to have missed that trick! But something else I've just noticed in the editor - if you set up a Churchill side-on and aim at it any lower than halfway down the hull, down to the wheels, shells seem to pass straight through the model and hit the ground beyond!

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

I'm not personally using beta patches, but the new tank effects still seem to be missing on the Churchill and Cromwell.

Fantastic! Really glad to see you've fixed the cannon recoil, it's one of those features you take for granted, but really adds to the immersion. :bounce3:

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

Speaking of the Cromwell, do you guys know the new effects aren't working with it? It just erupts then leaves a charred wreck with no tracks as it did before the armor overhaul. But what does that have to do with the price of fish? Science is just evidence based knowledge, that applies to everyone - it's not some private cult that applies only to elderly wild-haired men in white lab coats. I was just trying to show the discrepancy in the numbers and myths about tanks destroyed by air attack. Contrary to popular myth the numbers destroyed by direct air attack were very few. As Animosity pointed out a few pages back, even the Tiger was surprisingly vulnerable to side attack from the humble 75 gunned Sherman/Cromwell - your enemy is not always going to co-operate and fire only at your thick frontal armor. The Panther's glass jaw also was its relatively weak side armor - not to mention Panther IV, or should I say "Robart der Hauchdunne" (Redbeard the Thin-Skinned).

That's a shame, maybe the code for the new damage system is somehow conflicting with the bit of code for the recoil.

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

Is it just me or has the recoil for all the tank's main cannon's disappeared in this latest version? Noticed it a bit ago when I set up a battle in the editor, then did a test fire in the editor to check - all Sherman's, Churchill, Tiger and Panther's all seem to have no recoil - I'm pretty sure there was recoil there before. :butbut:

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

Hi jiltedjock, but that's why I said anecdotal evidence is not scientific evidence. I have the utmost respect for the veterans in the Tankies programs, my own great uncle served as a Radio operator in Crusader's and Sherman's in N. Africa and Italy - and I'll regret forever being too shy to ask him about his experiences years ago when I had the chance. But the way those types of programs are produced leads people to go away having watched it believing the myths and half-truths, and it's irresponsible journalism and history telling to only tell half the story. For example, the first program highlighted the relative poor performance of the 2pdr anti-tank gun without making a single mention of the 6pdr - which penetrated every tank the German's put in front of it in N. Africa - two years later during Market Garden 1st Airborne were still using it to knock out everything the German's put on the battlefield. For its weight and class it was one of the best anti-tank guns of the war. Regards the sloping armor, with 50mm thick armor whether it is sloping or oblique is not going to make one iota of difference when you are up against the German 88mm and 75mm. The Sherman had sloping armor, what did that save it from that the Cromwell's oblique armor could not? Nothing. As I said before, mobility and good HE were going to be the best defense against such. If the allies had produced tanks with thicker armor - this would have been at the sacrifice of mobility - and would have led to a bigger catastrophe for the allied tankers. I don't want to derail this thread too much away from I44's achievements, but below is another youtube link to some good tank warfare history, and makes for good listening. Operation Think Tank 2012 Part 1 through to 12 P.S. I did mean to mention the nice addition of smoke shells to some tanks in the latest patch in my earlier post, also it's great how smoke comes the driver's vision slit on the Tiger when it's knocked out! ;)

Yep, I always use penetration/additional effects module - so don't know, maybe it's random and I just happen to be getting a lot of occurrences.

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

I've had the chance to give the new version a good workout in the editor, and you guys have done a magnificent job as always. A special mention for Animosity who must have spent a lot of time poring through technical data to get to this point. Maybe in future the explosion could be toned down a bit for when a tank erupts? They seem to go off like a supernova. But that's only a trivial gripe - thanks as always guys! :) Regarding the amount playing online - I'm a strictly offline player myself - but maybe it's a case of all things being equal, it's an aging game now, I44 has a smaller team than it used to and maybe the player base is also smaller than it used to be? But it's a shame the mod is not utilized to its full potential.

Sorry, you're right Macolik, I don't want to take the gloss off the work you guys are doing, which is the most important thing and what you should be getting credit for.

I don't have the right to complain? Where do you think I live, North Korea? besides I'm not complaining - I simply personally prefer to do things the way I like to do things.

    Invasion 1944 v2.6 (CO)

If I click on the ArmA 'button' I get a blank pane open up on the right hand side with no options to chose anything - besides I've already lost too much time with it to bother with it anymore.

Something else I don't like about PWS is that it doesn't seem to allow you to chose where you want files saved to, and I have a small ssd for gaming and like to keep it streamlined with as little installed on it as possible. PWS forces me to save to "Documents" - I simply prefer to keep mods in the ArmA 2 folder and whenever possible download to a storage drive, then manually copy over to the game folder on the ssd.
