Hm... strange. No problems here. Some minor rpt errors, nothing serious: What does your .rpt file say, Aelin? The Star 660 is a very nice truck, btw. Somehow I missed that one before. Great job, Vilas! -

You need P85_config as well. And if you want it with crew, you also need p85_troop & p85_wpn3d. -

Great job Icebreakr & team. This is one of the best maps out there for sure. I have started to re-write my DIH Africa 'When Diplomacy Fails...' mission for Isla Duala immediately. It's already fully playable. Here are some first impressions (click to enlarge): From left to right: -Portuguese base -Taking Bolabongo from the MPLA -A map overview, showing the three sided fight for Bolabongo between MPLA, UNITA and Portuguese forces. -A Portuguese outpost All that keeps me from releasing is this error message: Stay tuned.

:) While that map would be quite a lot of fun, I fear we will have to wait for the "1024 core GPU with 256 GB RAM' until something like this is possible... ATM, I think something like double the size of Chernogorsk is the maximum. a pitty. an all-city-map would be very nice indeed. -

Time for another update! It seems there are no Portuguese soldiers out there - so I had to try and add my own (click to enlarge): The pic shows a first try to get the Portuguese 'Vertical Lizard' camo into the game. From left to right: 1) NCO with Heckler and Koch G3 (Espingarda m/961) and P-38 (I don't know the Portuguese designation of this pistol, but I know that they have used it). 2) Soldier with G3 Espingarda m/961 (This is a Portuguese variant of the first G-3 production model. I used the Swedish AK-4 model because it comes very close to the actual m/961). 3) Machine Gunner with Portuguese MG-42/59 (a modernized version of WW2's MG-42 that uses NATO 7.62 ammo) 4) Soldier with FN FAL (m/962). The FN FAL was only used in very small quantities. 5) AT sodlier with G3 E. m/961 and Carl Gustav Launcher --- And a pic of the earlier mentioned African Civilians (click to enlarge): -
... no?That is only true if you are killed in your main base. Otherwise you have the choice of either respawning in your base or at a nearby friendly outpost.

For now, I have used the Polish SF units from P'85 with western weapons when I was in need of Mercs (click to enlarge): These remind me of that good old 70's movie 'The Wild Geese'. D. -

This, I hope too. But I have to warn you not to expect too much (yet). The first release will just be Africans in such clothes stock ArmA2 has to offer that are not totally out of place. I'm an impatient person :) But once I have everything in place (That is: 2 sides with enough equipment for warfare type missions + some kind of 'Resistance'/neutrals + civilians + unique warfare mode), I will start to improve the pack, as far as permissions allow. D. --- EDIT: Anybody knows if someone does some Portuguese units? Search returned no result. While it would be too big a project for me alone, I guess some 'old colony power' units would be nice. -

Well, it would fit into Project '85 very well. But I don't think they would allow Vilas to do that. Maybe the Soviet 'advisors' of the MPLA had no time to paint a new roundel yet :) ------ I'm working on African Civilians right now. After all, my forces need someone to fight for! D. -

Thanks to Ingeneer, I remembered that there are legal ways of getting ArmA1 stuff into ArmA2 even when the original author does not give permission to release a direct port... You can review the results here (click to enlarge): A proud MPLA pilot with his new, old baby :D This nice MiG-15bis by Bdfy & Volksturm will make it into the next version of DIH Africa. I'm not allowed to change the roundel, but I think the MPLA won't mind flying around with a red star :) I'll release my solution for stock ArmA 2 insurgents too. D. --- EDIT: I discovered a small bug with the voices. I forgot to define them for my custom identity type, that's why at the moment all have the same voice. This has been fixed in my WIP version already and will be included in v1.2. -

@Old Bear: Interesting... Have you previewed that island somewhere (I guess it's an ADO map you are talking about)? @Nazul: I'd prefer stand alone packages too, but thats for Icebreakr to decide. As for cooperation: AFAIK his Molatian army is a modern day army with some old equipment, while my package deals with the 70's. So that limits the possibilities a bit. But I'm in contact with him from time to time. It's not exactly a cooperation (yet?), but who knows what the future might bring. As for missions: Looking forward to them! :) D. -

@ANZACSAS Steve: Maybe it will work too if you set up a special ARTY ammo for the M109 by inheriting from the D30 arty magazine? If that works, that would be the solution for all our arty module related problems. ------ People will love Vilas' new Sov/Rus tank pack... :) -

I know. But it's author isn't very cooperative. I have a working port of the plane, but he won't allow me to release it for ArmA2. That's really sad. The MiG-15 bis is of top quality. EDIT: Well, I could still write a config that inherits from the MiG 15 ArmA1 version... actually, that's no bad idea :) -

Yeah, I know. But it looks like I *might* get a MiG-21. I would have prefered Mig-19 or Su-7, but the 21 would be good enough. -

You can see how the fire spreads from barrel to barrel until the truck finally blows up. You can't put out the fire, so this script turns the fuel trucks into very vulnerable vehicles - but it's so much fun in-game! :) -

I've released the new version 1.1 today. Changelog and download link are in the OP. Armed with PPS-43 and SKS. Some more of them. Leader and AKM soldier. Have fun - and now back to my WIP African Warfare gametype... -

@Steve: The M109 works with Arty module and player, but the AI won't shoot indirectly. No clue why, AFAIK vilas has set up everything correctly. You have to add the new magazine types to the BIS list of arty magazines manually by srcipt btw (something like: BIS_ARTY_ORDTYPES = BIS_ARTY_ORDTYPES + [["vil_m109_sph", "HE", "vil_PALmag_HE"]]; ) D. -

A small update: On the left you can see a first WIP version of an 'ill equiped' MPLA soldier with bare head (BIS model reskin). I plan to do some variants. e.g. with civilian trousers, caps... I will add dirt, patches etc so they have a rather rag-tag/battleworn look. But bear with me - I'm no experienced texturer at all. On the right is one of Vila's soldiers with cap. Just to show that there are some regulars without helmets too. From left to right: Repair, Refuel and Ammo versions of the V3S truck. From left to right: Ambulance, HQ and standard versions of the BRDM-2. Left: Vila's DSHK with one of my reskin attempts. Right: another not-so-good-equiped WIP MPLA soldier. This time with cap. -------------- I'll add three versions of the Mi-8 (or rather: Mi-17 in this case): Unarmed, with Machineguns, Gunship version. I'm not sure about the Hind... I think the Mi-8 with S-5 missiles is powerful enough to take out everything it might encounter. Su-25... maybe. But I'm not a fan of air units with guided missiles. Very bad for gameplay IMHO. Perhaps a version with S-8 unguided missiles or bombs. I still hope that an extremely bored modeller does a Su-7 BKL (a man may dream :) )... Cheers, D. -

I'd certainly be interested :) But my texturing skills are lousy at best (as you will soon see in the next version of my Afican units...). But I think many people would be very grateful if you release your vehicles with hiddenSelections and UV outlines.
