    Custom armor?

As long as faction - specific camoflauge and armor isn't available to players of a different faction, I'm fine with it.

VME PLA MOD for ARMA II

Have you tested it or is there a link so that i may test it?

VME PLA MOD for ARMA II

Of course! :) I am more than capable of making missions myself, I just wanted the units to be available in MP with a serverkey and everything.

    Will you buy ARMAIII?

Too many demands trying to be met equals a bad game. For once I'm happy that BIS is trying to release something stable instead of making every possible customer happy.

VME PLA MOD for ARMA II

Well once the mod is MP compatible, I can guarantee you that plenty of missions will start being made - SP, COOP, and MP. People take much more interest in an addon that they can play in every one of these modes. I didn't realize making an addon that is just units and vehicles MP compatible was so hard :( Hopefully you can make this possible eventually!

VME PLA MOD for ARMA II

I'm dying for an MP playable version of this mod to come out. :) Any vague idea of when that will probably happen so I can sleep at night?

Agreed. I have high hopes that BIS will deliver!

    Will you buy ARMAIII?

Remember - and this is supported by the very words from a BIS developer's mouth - they are not removing anything from their previous games (gameplay dynamics / features wise), only adding things. If you're one of the people who is sore about the (near) futuristic setting of the game, I can't say anything other than what has already been said. ArmA, regardless of which game in the series you're talking about, has always been a foundation upon which the community builds. And I'm glad that from what I'm hearing so far, this will probably be the most stable and reliable "platform" than any of the other ArmA games were when they first came out. I don't care about the setting.

The island - living or abandoned?

The ambient civilian and civilian vehicles module should be more easily manipulated...for instance, easily setting a maximum and minimum capacity for AI civilians spawned on the island. Edit: I know this can be done in ArmA2 atm, but not quite as simply as an adjustable bar or simple field where you could type in the values.

Render to texture - what are the possibilities?

With the muffins and pie in the equation now, this is something BIS would be crazy not to consider.

    Will you buy ARMAIII?

I think the bottom line has always been obvious, and the nature of this thread just obscures that: People are always going to hate on ArmA3 because of what it DOESN'T/WON'T have when it first comes out, much like ArmA2. But if you ask these people to give an example of a game that brought more to the table upon its release (no mods included, just the stock game), they will choke on their words.

    Will you buy ARMAIII?

Again you are wrong - there is nothing to indicate that ArmA3 will be a "run and gun" game. The only thing remotely close to indicating something like that is when they said you'd have the option to do lone wolf or commander style missions or playing style in the campaign. Neither OFP nor ArmA2 were the pinnacle of realism when they came out, but with mods they are great games. What makes you think that ArmA3 with realism mods is going to be any worse? You say the forums are good for posting opinions, and my opinion is that you fail. Hard. Because you are assuming way to much about a game that hasn't even been released, and you aren't even taking into consideration mods.

    Will you buy ARMAIII?

A lot of assumptions being made here... You should know that, given enough time, ArmA3 will be modded just as much as any of the other previous games. So maybe 3 or 4 years down the road (when you'll need a new computer anyway unless you're stuck in the past playing ArmA2 with the measly 100 or so people who will still be playing online) you'll consider upgrading your PC and buying ArmA3. Never say never.

    Will you buy ARMAIII?

Why....just why....waste a thread on asking this. Knowing what I know about the game now, I do plan to buy it.
  15. Disclaimer: This thread is merely a suggestion / recommendation, not a demand. In the interest of attracting an even larger fanbase and community, I think it would be a smart move on Bohemia Interactive's part to begin to work with the modding community before the release of the game. An example of an upcoming game and developer that is allowing this is Tripwire Interactive and their new game, Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad. They are working with the modding community to produce a total conversion mod called "Rising Storm" that will add the pacific theater, and will be available when the game itself releases. If BIS released any necessary modding tools for ArmA3 in advance of the game's release, the available content available to the community upon release would be multiplied without a great deal of effort on their part. In turn this would attract a wider audience. Perhaps the availability of modern factions, weapons, and vehicles would keep the hardcore modern day milsim players from holding out on buying the game until addons were available. Remember, this is just an idea - in the end I suppose it is up to the modding community to attempt to work with BIS and, ultimately, it's BIS' decision to do anything of the sort whatsoever. In my opinion, though this would be a win-win for both the developers and the community.

ARMA 3 Engine Handling of Objects at Range

I don't know what version of ArmA2 you're playing, but ask anybody else and they'll tell you that spotting infantry a far distance away is a piece of cake. Grass doesn't conceal them, bushes do a much poorer job of hiding soldiers, and using shadows to blend in better is useless as well as long as you're enemy is a good distance away. OP - every single point you made was excellent, and I hope BIS implements all of it.

BIS: Work with Modding Community pre-release

That's great to hear. Excellent work on ArmA3 so far, it's going to be an amazing game. You guys are the best of the best! :)

BIS: Work with Modding Community pre-release

Many in the modding community would take this as a grave insult. Modding takes a great deal of time and skill. If you say otherwise, you better have created an amazing total conversion mod for ArmA2 or something all by yourself. If not, try thinking before you post. The fact is that ArmA is not very easy to mod. We are just beginning to see some of the more advanced features being modified 2 years after the game's release.

Rail-Based System for Vehicles and Aircraft

I agree with Millenium7 - the system you're describing should not be added as a replacement, but as an alternative method.

BIS: Work with Modding Community pre-release

All of these are issues that I do agree need to be dealt with. Modding is such a large part of what makes ArmA popular - lets face it, without the massive selection of mods and addons available to the ArmA community, the fanbase would be a lot smaller. BIS has undoubtedly observed this fact since OFP. It's about time they started to at least make a little more of an effort to simplify things for the (very capable, but short-handed) modding community. If modding becomes easier, there's no saying how far the series can go.

    Arma 2: Namalsk Crisis

Why is it that, on every map I play, there is that wind blowing sound effect that came with the namalsk map? Do I have to disable the addon every time I don't want to hear that when I'm playing on another map? It gets annoying after a while. Edit: And now, regardless of what I set my view distance or fog level in the editor, I can barely see past 1000 meters...what exactly has downloading this single map done to f*ck everything up?

Sounds change based on inside buildings or out

We got on the topic of physics because the OP included stuff about physics in his post, despite the thread title. :) I haven't played Men of War yet, seeing as I only bought the first game and red tide a couple of weeks ago and haven't gotten around to starting them yet, but it is interesting to hear that it has such physics. As far as I know, though, it would be a first for me to see physics on that level in an FPS (style) game.

BIS: Work with Modding Community pre-release

I wonder if it is possible, then, for BIS to implement a multiplayer netcode that allows for any addons that a player may not have but are required by the server to be downloaded and applied in-game. Once again, I'm going to use Red Orchestra (Ostfront) as an example. Maps and other minor modifications could be downloaded by the server during the MP loading screen. I know ArmA2 incorporates this to an extent when it comes to missions, but expanding this feature to include other usermade addons couldn't hurt. The option to download addons from sites such as armaholic would always be available, of course, and would be the better option for obtaining large files quicker. But the complexity of the "mixing and matching" process you mentioned could be simplified by such a system.

Sounds change based on inside buildings or out

I have yet to see a physics engine in any game where a tank can drive over a vehicle and crush it as it would be in real life...when you find one let me know.
