  1. I have had ArmA 2 since it came out and bought Arrowhead as soon as it came out and I have always had performance problems but nothing as bad as now. All of a sudden the other day, Operation Arrowhead stopped working. By stopped working I mean when I boot it up, as soon as window opens the whole game is slowed to 0.5 frames per second or less. I can't even navigate the menu, the game locks up constantly. I have to end up killing the process from task manager to get the game to close. Note that before this started happening I made absolutely no changes to my hardware or software configuration, and all my other games run as perfectly as they always have, including ArmA 2. Operation Arrowhead is the only game having this problem. It also happens when I launch Combined Ops. Now here's what I have tried with no resolution: Reinstalling video card drivers Installing previous video card drivers Reinstalling Operation Arrowhead Reinstalling ArmA 2 Below is my dxdiag. http://pastebin.com/fVUtsj4T

    Unusual issue

Check my dxdiag in the first post for specs. I have no spyware or viruses. I CClean my registry errors once per week. I have 4 GB of ram. Both are patched fully through Steam. Also as I said the game worked fine until the other day. ---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 PM ---------- Launching the game directly from the folder or from the desktop or from Steam I have the same result. I'm not using any beta patches.

    Unusual issue

Well I defragged both my HDD's and I'm still having the same problem.

    Unusual issue

I haven't defragged my whole computer recently, though with reinstalling the game it wouldn't be fragmented.

    Unusual issue

I don't start it with any addons.
  6. Seconded; also agree with the post about the AI shooting much more frequently and more accurately.
  7. Very strongly prefer the vanilla OA recoil.

    New beta 71900 is up!(OA)

The recoil is ridiculous... take it away. The game is unplayable for me without the beta patch and with the beta patch I can finally play OA without much lag, however, I am not willing to switch to the beta patch for better performance if it means that I can't even hit anything twice in less than 2 seconds. I thought it was actually getting closer to a simulation game I guess I am mistaken. Assault rifles do not kick UP when you fire them they kick back with minimal movement on the sights and it only takes less than a second in real life to re-sight your target. Also this makes the AI ridiculously more accurate than you and gives them a huge advantage over you.
  9. I am trying to implement this nuke script into one of my MP missions. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8294 It's activated by using radio 0-0-1. What I need to do is limit the script so that it can be activated by only one person. What happens is, you press 0-0-1, then click on the map where you want the nuke to impact. Currently anyone can use the radio command and click on the map anywhere. I want the script limited so that only one person can call in the nuke by radio and click on the map.
  10. Where would I go to add it? edit: Nevermind I found it.
  11. I am editing Domination West v1.09. I just need one small thing. I need to know how to make the engineers able to repair new vehicles I've added with mods such as the F-16, etc... I've searched in every file and I cannot find out how to do this. Thanks in advance.

    Squad XML help

    I've got everything working except the logo. It's in .paa format, it's 256x256 pixels, I converted it in TexView2. It's in the same folder as the squad.xml file. Here is my squad.xml see if you can see anything wrong with it I guess. <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE squad SYSTEM "squad.dtd"> <?xml-stylesheet href="squad.xsl?" type="text/xsl"?> <squad nick="N/A"> <name>N/A</name> <email>N/A</email> <web>N/A</web> <picture>mediccross.paa</picture> <title>TGSM Medic</title> <member id="2377792" nick="|TG|Dr. Nner"> <name>Nero</name> <email>[email protected]</email> <icq>N/A</icq> <remark>"I am that I am."</remark> </member> </squad>
  13. I want this thread to serve the purpose of determining what Operating System you have and what type of performance you get from ArmA 2 on said OS.
  14. So it's been over 2 months since Arma 2 came out and I am coming back to the forums to see if this issue has been resolved yet. Yes I have used the search function and browsed through various threads new and old regarding the topic. Should I just buy an older video card in order to play this game? I have a GTX 260 and I can't get more than 30 fps in the middle of nowhere and like 10 in the cities, still. No better or worse using every single suggestion given to me from this forum and other sources to date. It appears to get better when I turn off grass and vegetation definitely but that doesn't help in cities. I have friends I play with that have 8800's and 9800's and get perfect 50+fps performance everywhere. So my question is should I just purchase an older video card and swap them out every time I want to play this game? Is that what I have to do? Or is there an ultimate fix for this yet. Inb4 flame.

    OS Performance Survey

    Performance is related to framerates.
  16. Message to all: Use XP Pro 32 bit. I used to use Windows 7/Vista 64 bit. Downgrading to XP Pro 32 bit solved all my performance issues. I now get 30+ fps everywhere. I can't speak for the 64 bit version of XP pro but I'm not taking any chances.

    Another performance thread

Just wanted to let everyone know I fixed the problem by installing XP Pro 32 bit. Before I had Windows 7 64 bit. I get more than 30 fps in cities with max grass and vegetation on clean install now. Same in-game video settings. Possibly was a driver related issue.

No, in 99% of scenarios I play online the scenario has a default view distance and you can sometimes set it to what you like within the scenario. Also as I have said I tried editing all the settings including the viewdistance.

Asus M2N-SLI Mobo 2.4Ghz AMD Dual-core CPU Corsair 4096 (2 x 2048Mb Dual-channel) DDR2 RAM EVGA GTX 260 192 Core Superclocked 896Mb Windows 7 RC 64 Bit It doesn't make a bit of difference whether I turn settings on very high or very low so I just leave them on all high. ---------- Post added at 11:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:33 PM ---------- Hello.

Yo Darkman and anfiach what operating systems do you use?
  21. Tacticalgamer.com If you're tired and fed up with Domination and Evolution type game play I highly suggest playing there. I have been playing there for close to a year and it's exactly the type of game play and experience you describe. They have a Coop and a TvT server. During the day (in the US) they may be playing Domination, but when they are, they are playing tactically. Usually in the afternoon and evening time is when they start up the squad/platoon/company based Coop missions.
