This is a really good idea if you want to screw up your installation and have to do it all again. You MUST install 1.54 before putting BAF on or you'll get issues.

Diagnose my lag spikes
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to maturin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I would guess that your graphics chip is getting very very hot while in game and this causes a rise in the internal temperature of your machine. This may in turn cause some throttling to bring the temp down. Try lowering your graphics settings and see if that allows more time before the lag spikes. The graphics capabilities of your laptop are sadly lacking. -
I think you need to uninstall the whole thing and start again. Install Arma2, patch to 1.07. Install OA and patch to 1.54. Then install BAF.

Cos anti-tank or not, a high explosive shell of that calibre will do some serious damage to a group of infantry.

maps under construction:
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to shezan74's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : TERRAIN - (Visitor)
As yet unnamed project: It's a 102km X 102km world... Terrain is made, sat image is being tweaked and I'm getting frustrated with the buggy unintuitive tool that is Visitor3 :) Soon to be featured in a WIP thread. -
Secondary Monitor as Map
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to ZeosPantera's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
How about a mapreader smartphone app that could sync with your game via bluetooth? -
This will be ok I think, better than Pearl Harbour anyway :)

ARMA 2: Private Military Company (ARMA 2: PMC) DLC
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Seriously? That's a pretty good idea if you don't intend to fire that many rounds but can you imagine how much data would be generated in an actual battle? Would certainly make things interesting though when your gun crashes as soon as you insert a new mag. "Reloading... Shit, BSOD" "Get Bill Gates in here!" -
Does that mean that that brown bread is the Devil's turd?

ARMA 2: Private Military Company (ARMA 2: PMC) DLC
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I never said anything about Iraq specifically, we all know that the only real evidence for WMD was the receipt that the CIA had from when they sold the stuff to Saddam in the first place. A global state would work, we just have to dissolve the senate and give the regional governers direct control... Anyway... Back on topic. Really looking forward to that aa-12 and proper shotgun ballistics. KABOOOM BABY. -
ARMA 2: Private Military Company (ARMA 2: PMC) DLC
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Vilas the only way world peace can be achieved and sustained is for everywhere on the planet to be under one government and one economy. Until that happens there will always be wars of some kind, it's human nature. I'm not advocating someone's bid for world domination here, just pointing out some undeniable facts of life. -
ARMA 2: Private Military Company (ARMA 2: PMC) DLC
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I would love to be able to see the world in black and white like Vilas but I've lived long enough and seen enough to know that everything is shades of grey with brown spots where the shit has hit it. It's a cliche I know but we can't all live in a socialist paradise where money isn't required and everything is provided by the state. As for stating that attacking a country makes you Hitler that's just nuts. If a country is a real threat to the rest of the world then should we just sit back and take it? It's all about picking a lesser evil. Anything short of utopia is ultimately bad in some way Vilas, deal with it. Ray243 has it right, PMCs are just glorified security guards with better kit. I wonder Vilas do you feel the same about police officers who leave their jobs to be private detectives or security consultants? -
ARMA 2: Private Military Company (ARMA 2: PMC) DLC
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Vilas, the world runs on money. It's cheaper for a government to hire in PMCs than it is to deploy their own troops and so this will continue for the forseeable future. I'm sure that PMCs would have a much harder time recruiting contractors if they could earn a decent wage in the army but the sad fact is that most soldiers are paid peanuts. I work as an independant contractor in IT, I earn considerably more than a soldier deployed in a combat zone who suffers imminent and constant risk of death for their country. Why shouldn't people who are clearly meant to be soldiers get paid properly for the use of their specialist skills? -
ARMA 2 (OA) : DLC discussion thread
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
What bf2 trooper said and I have said several times before. The USMC needs reskinning with desert camo and the US Army needs reskinning with woodland camo for people with combined ops. I know the people with OA only or both games uncombined (why would you do this?) will moan but if they want to get the maximum replayability and variety out of the game then they should be getting combined ops anyway. -
Marmite is a savoury spread that has a very similar taste to Twiglets just more concentrated.

Also if prisoners try to escape we have a great big inflatable sphere called ROVER that chases them. -

Wrong thread for saying what you want in a DLC really. -
I use marmite as an ingredient in gravy but I'd never do that with Arma 2, it goes too lumpy.

LOL a special forces dog. The best domestic guard dog ever when he rotates home. Not only does he bark at intruders but he also knocks them out, ties them up and makes sure they never ever do it again. -
HMS Queen Elizabeth
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to JDog's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Why? The Typhoon doesn't operate from carriers, even if it did the QE class (original spec) isn't equipped for that kind of plane. I haven't had a chance to download this yet but hopefully will do in the next hour. I heard a rumour that if I don't download it then it costs twice as much. -
I'm a bit confused as to whether this is a thread about the game, a political question or even a suggestion.

British armed forces question
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to danny96's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I've seen the same person complaining about BAF DLC in other threads. No need to start your own thread to complain about it when you have already complained in all the other DLC threads... FPDR In before the lock... Also, if you paid more than $100 for Arma2 and OA then you have made some really bad choices of retailers. The following quote seems appropriate: -
Laser Guided Bomb Computer for aircraft
TechnoTerrorist303 replied to viper0311's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
There are several reasons why this should not be implemented: 1) It's incredibly overpowered for the multiplayer game 2) Who really wants to be clicking on the map to designate a bomb target? Think about how fast you move over the target 3) You'd be making all LGB carrying planes capable of self designation (see 1) It's also very unrealistic being able to magically lase your target from any direction/angle/speed -
