super computer required?
Herbal Influence replied to benjibb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just to add my 2-cents because I recently upgraded to a 27'' Monitor (1080x1920) and it works fine all maxed out with my old cpu and 3 GByte RAM and quite old graphiccard - see spoiler. -
Improvements I want, and maybe some other people but it's arrogant to assume...
Herbal Influence replied to Ironman13's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
You bought a game. The price you paid was for the game as it is. Now, two years later, you are COMMANDING the gamedeveloper as if he was your dirty dog. Time for an excuse. And at the same time you utter legal nonsense deliver wrong facts. Time for an excuse. They care for us with weekly beta releases and you paid a lousy 50 Dollars for it??? Time for an excuse. But ok, you have had bad days. Just tell that ... and don't tell something else, don't dress it in things BIS have done wrong. -
What if CryEngine was used as Arma 3 future engine?
Herbal Influence replied to jonneymendoza's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Yeah, too bad it's less a competitor in Gaming but in making good films about how it COULD look like. The demo doesn't show how it would work on nowadays PCs DURING a game. It's a kind of an advertising film. Discussion is here ! -
Realtime immersive - Militar simulator cryengine
Herbal Influence replied to minimalaco's topic in OFFTOPIC
No, no ... don't you see there's a lot missing? It's just a graphical demo ... nothing else. A BIS-graphical demo would look even more fascinating. And DM is absolutely right: Asking BIS to use the Cry-Engine is like asking BMW to use OPEL engines ... there's a lot of know-how into it. Nobody wants to lose his. -

Muecke, thanx for reply. Am I right that the unit cam is now reduced to 50 metres? Why that?

As I don't like the "tunnelview" or "gas-mask-view" which I consider the No-3rd-person-view, I would nevertheless not like persons playing with 3rd-view whereas other don't. It's true that with 3rd-view you can watch over walls and beyond corners and some call this a "cheat" or "less realistic" whereas I call it a more realistic situational awareness that is the ONLY possibility to get rid of this even more unrealistic tunnelview = no-3rd-person view. Not to speak about the sillyness of having No-3rd-person view in vehicles. In this forum a professional military chopper pilot said, No-3rd-view is simply unrealistic in choppers. And, be honest, no-one would enter in real-life a vehicle that gives such a reduced situational awareness like the vehics in OA do ... Sometimes you can only see small pieces of the landscape because of so wonderful HUD and stuff ... My two-cent. But not to derail this thread, please discuss 3rd-view versus No-3rd-view here only No script, no deactivation of admin-settings.

Yeah ... nice one! Works since 120 min without prob! But indeed too laggy here. Maybe because I did it with no dedicated server. Maybe that's the reason why I couldn't use Hellfires effectively too?

ATTN NOOBIES! - New to ArmA II or OA - Here's the place for your questions
Herbal Influence replied to wraith_v's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
OMG - thanks - working wonderfully - you ... you made me remember .... ! Arrggh ... ten years of BIS games are too much for me ... I begin to forget what I once knew myself ... !! -
Why are you playing BIS games?
Herbal Influence replied to nettrucker's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
Mmm ... yes, as someone pointed out above, BIS spared me an enormous amount of money for I didn't check other games after I played OFP in 2001/2002 but did indeed before! What a hell of money would have been wasted! ;-) It's close to an 10-year-anniversary now!? -

Herbal Influence replied to wraith_v's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Hi, does anybody know whether there is a possibility to change from the window-ed mode to fullscreen? I often start in window-ed mode (with "-window" in the desktop-link) but after some time want to go on in fullscreen mode without having to start the game (and the server) again. :o Any ideas? -
ARMA 2:OA beta patch 76067
Herbal Influence replied to tonygrunt's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
+1 ! I hope I will ever get back to that status ... compared to that all other issues seems very much minor to me ... :-( -
Just want to say: Thank You BIS!

ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead, version 1.55 - Patch released.
Herbal Influence replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
"This patch will also update your original Arma 2 1.00-1.07 to 1.08 if necessary!" Source: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12586 -
I see no connection to the ground following system? How to steer thingies got nothing to do with that?
-
Why can't it be that simple and effective like in the ol' OFP-days? I had full analogue control over everything .... Nowadays I am flying up and down because I (only keyboard-and-mouse purist!) can only give "full commands" (rudder left, rudder right, rudder up, rudder down). Whereas I can control ... in quite a strange way .. the throttle only: Long pressing of button: low throttle, long pressing of other button: high throttle ... that would work IF there would be any hint in the vehicles at what % of throttle I am at the moment ....

ARMA 2:OA beta patch 74858
Herbal Influence replied to WillaCHilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Yeah, a warning would have been of help. Maybe because of no warning the gaming statistic report only about a 500 gamers each night online now? Before a three weeks or so it was regurlarly about 1800 each night. -
ARMA 2:OA beta patch 74630
Herbal Influence replied to abel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Cool patch ... but heavy, gamebreaking stutters as single player in editor after about a 30 seconds. -
Why are you playing BIS games?
Herbal Influence replied to nettrucker's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
The possibility to get rid of this stupid feeling of passivity or helplessness when you see things getting worse in Afghanistan and Iraq? For an hour or so ... you do not only receive the bad news ... you create them ? ;-) -
Congrats for this great idea of a mission! Anyone else with that problem that most weapons (handweapons and those of vehicles) seems to be hindered mostly from shooting by some kind of an unvisible wall close to them? Mission was therefore unplayable for me. I tested it alone, with noone else around.

... what's the sense of that? I am really just interested ... (refering to this post ). I don't get it for I never used these .... and I fear BI games get a bit dependent on those companies - at last in the US. Any info on that? ps. I would understand BIS to close this thread as it *might* go into what they might consider as their very own commercial practises and they don't want commercial partners to be bashed here. While - as I understand - this is only the case with Steam not xfire.

Still this thread title is shocking misleading ... ;-)

An annoying AI swimming problem
Herbal Influence replied to kyfohatl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Equipment loss is a feature not a bug. ;-) Ever tried swimming fully armed? So it's simply programmed that way to make it more realistic. The pathfinding-problem arised in the first post might exist but it depends much on where the bridge is, whether it is blocked partly etc. etc. -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 73311
Herbal Influence replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Must be quite annoying for the programmers to read something like that. 1. AI are SOMETIMES slow in reacting to immediate thread, that's true. But in real life that's quite the same. Don't want no "perfect" AIs, want a real life simulation. 2. They do take cover behind buildings and even bushes etc. ... or am I running another game? (recent Beta). I am very happy with this great BIS games since 2001. Thanx so much for your continuing (unpaid) efforts, BIS!
