    What happens in Luxemburg ?

There is since a few weeks an absolutely unproportional amount of gamers from Luxemburg online ... half of the population during the day !!!:o:  http://arma2.swec.se/server/country For example: At the moment there are Us US 4877.0 (32%) De DE 3600.0 (23%) Lu LU 1891.0 (12%) Ru RU 1238.0 (8%) Fr FR 910.0 (6%) Gb GB 803.0 (5%) Se SE 378.0 (2%) Au AU 309.0 (2%) No NO 243.0 (1%) Nl NL 204.0 (1%) Nz NZ 204.0 (1%) Ca CA 72.0 (0%) Jp JP 58.0 (0%) If you know that the population is only 511.840 and the US with about 311 Mio and Germany with about a 82 Mio. people??!! Well, I know, that a lot of the wealth of Luxembourg is from dealing with money. And maybe money works itself without a need to watch it working ... but ...... :j: In other words, if you compare it with Germany (2x the number of gamers), Luxemburg should have 41 Mio inhabitants and not 0,5 Mio !! Anybody knows the answer??! Maybe a lot of servers in Luxembourg?

Steamworks, add it in or not?

Yeah, and now the highest European Court decided: Whether you downloaded the software or bought it on a DVD, the seller / manufacturer / Programmer is not allowed to hinder you to transfer it. So I estimate that Steams practise is illegal which restricts your right of selling your version to someone outside Steam.

    What happens in Luxemburg ?

Again: The statistic data obviously make an exact difference between the place of the server and the gamer. Which is easy because of the IPs. Its about gamers in LU not servers. The streets MUST be empty ... it's 15 o'clock and 1300 citoyen are gaming ... And another question from the statistics here: Why is it always at this time that the USA has the same amount of gamers online as Germany?

You have any doubt that I can sell you my BIS-DVDs legally clear, legally binding, absolutely clean?

Someone above said: "The DVD is yours, but not the software." That's not correct under German law. In Germany (and I think in quite all other European Countries) the software on the CD is as much yours as the DVD itself. And therefore you are allowed to sell it to whoever you want. Oh - thank you Steam for allowing me to sell my game to someone else from Steam!! I am used to be allowed and able to sell my BIS-DVDs to whomever I like. Since 2001. I don't need Steam "to give me a freedom" of a lesser quality. Steam is the deathrow for free software. If I want to degenerate, I use alc, not just Steam. See my signature.

Maybe vilayer is good but is it any better than other serverhosters? There are many others ... in Germany, Netherlands, France, Belgium ... nearby. And: It's about the extraordinary number of gamers!

It says: "Server / Player distribution by Country" in the title and the server distribution is given additionally, as you can see. So if not Swec is cheating it is exact about both: Gamers and servers location. I showed only the gamers location given by Swec.

Wow ... thanks for that link! I love BIS for their spirit and sense of freedom since 2001! I am happy with the poll and BIS politics. Let's stay serious. Let's stay free. Freedom cannot be divided. See my signature.
  15. Thanx a lot ... I think I have to drop this complicated action. My SSD has no more room for Arma2 and I wanted to install it on another normal harddrive. But obviously makes very complicated because hence it must be a different folder than the already installed Arrowhead ... :(
  16. But it says there: "This is the official update for Arma 2: Combined Operations / Operation Arrowhead / Reinforcements from 1.50 to 1.60". And my Arma2 and Arrowhead-DVDs are unpatched versions? So my Arma2 should be a 1.0 and not a 1.50 ... nevertheless I hope you are right and I will try tonight.
  17. I am absolutely clueless: I am reinstalling Arma2 and Operation Arrowhead and I don't know which patches to apply in what order. The BIS pages ... lez say it friendly .. have not been proofread. As I am a constant BIS fan over the years from 2001 I have always the very first unpatched versions. But in BIS explanations they are jumping wildly around (from 1.11 to 1.50, than back to 1.59 ... crazy). Is there any post / thread that can tell me the lining up of the patches? For Arma2? For OA? (I asked for this about one year ago already. BIS didn't change it's weired explanations on their "support patches pages" ... well, maybe they are not weired for someone who das 24h/7days only BIS games.) Lez assume ... I am not.

Well, it's quite an insult to maintain that all that don't follow your road of TOTAL CONSUME without thinking twice are secretly using Apple devices ... I am happy to say: I don't. But now you will describe me as St. Peter? ... Let's stay serious: I never lost or scratched one of my gaming DVDs for BIS makes it completely easy: After the first patch you can store them in your bookshelf. And if you collected 750+ games I fear we either might consider you a gaming professional or an addict - both of which are out of place in a hobby gamers forum. Or let's say it this way: Game Collectors might use Steam, they don't leave additional personal life data, because they have no time to play a game. ;-) Once again: Allowing Steam will be a virus that leads to dependency on Steam's politics. I can't stand that. I want my BIS to stay independent and data protective as it has been. That's why I love it. If more than 60 % of the income of BIS comes over Steam, ... ... BIS freedom has left the building .... And this I say though again I suffer from not knowing which patch to follow with the other patch as I am reinstalling the game. And for those who "cannot find cogamers in PvP": Just talk/chat ! Say "hello!" when you enter a server! That's how people function .... don't behave like an autist (if you are in fact none, otherwise it's: ok !). And if you think sixupdater is worse than Steam pls read this!
  19. LOL ... just kick everyone who doesn't say/chat a "Hello!" when joining your missions on your PC. There are so many autist-like gamers ... unbelievable. I warn three times to explain whether they are robots or natural persons and off they go .. !
  20. Well, it's all a bit unproportional, like in Arma2: Hundreds of people modding like hell, but few people playing .... I like mods, but I know modders who whine around because noones using their nice works.
  21. Sorry, but as I said: With my old hardware it's no problem to host a game with up to 6 gamers. And for a beginner, like the threadopener, it's a wonderful thing that Bohemia Interactive offered since 2001 ...

I have a second reason. I am also against Steam because of the datacollection of Steam. You might not be worried about that. You might not even understand why people care. You may not have read George Orwells "1984". You might think that privacy is an outdated concept. You might call people like me paranoid and tinfoil-hat-wearers. I, personally, don't mind, because data protection is an abstract topic. I know it's sometimes hard to understand. The danger from too much data collection doesn't taste or smell and you cannot touch it. It's more like radioactivity: Slow, hidden, individual and when it's doing it's deadly work, it's too late. You are alone. My data is important. Even the data about when I do play which game, how successful I am and from where I play with what hardware and with which additonal files on my PC etc. etc. It's freedom - pls see my signature. Your data maybe not important. Maybe even for noone. Maybe even never. You hear in the background the datacollecting enterprises and dictators of countries are applauding you .... at the same time? They even congratulate you for your decision to consume and consume "services" and "services" without ever thinking twice. Big Brother loves you.

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues

I can recommend to use a ssd (128 GByte available far under 100 € now). It made my Arma-Gaming go from good to very good ... :-) though I have old specs (below).
  24. But you are aware, that your own PC is thought to be a server any time you want it? Just go on "Multiplayer", hit "new" and "internet" and open any mission you like and it works fine ... People can join and you can kick'em like Beckham ..... ;-) Don't undertake to host slots for more than 6 cogamers - I strongly recommend, because your own PC as a Server will otherwise make the game laggy. Certainly the number of possible co-gamers vary depending on your connection and PC. You are then able to kick etc. play like a young god ... ;-)

I want Bohemia Interactive to stay independent. I want Bohemia Interactive guys to get my money and noone else. If it happens that 55 % of their income comes from steam, they are no more free in their decisions. Steam-guys want to make money, money, money with products that can be used easily without them. NO, thank you. See my signature. Freedom. Counts. And cannot be divided.
