Yes, that is true, when i look documentaries on TV usualy its a 1/4 ratio betwen killed and wounded in WW2. But the thing is that your grandpa probably didnt get his bullet hole pluged and a M1 put in his hand and told to get out there and fight, probably his whole squad came to help him to get him out of there. Thats what i miss in ArmA2, AI never realy sticks up for wounded guys. Instead of the whole squad going bonkers to get the guy into cover they all just keep shooting and the medic has to go trough the lead storm and heal the guy... -
Well for your specific criteria i urge you to check games out on the net before buying them... ... Actualy, you should always check games out on the net so you dont get some piece of shit you dont like and you spent 50 bucks on it...

Automatic Brightness / NV Problems

Im not sure, but your eyes always adjust to light so if you are in a lighted place and you go into dark for a while you wont see shit (try at night, after you turn off the light try distinguishing anything). Looking at the sun will blind you. Try it... -
Eventualy is just a cheap excuse as ACE2... Unless we make a tread mill and laser sensors to just translate your movements into the game you dont "know" what stance you are in unless checking for visual ques witch is stuid since you need some experience playing to recognise it while irl youd just know since you feal your knee touching the ground etc. Theres a lot of things you cannot replicate in a game. You should have some sort of visual indicator of where your hit (legs, arms) since i dont want to have a guy with a AK shooting me into bodyparts to remember where im hit, but stuff like the supaman xray "radar" thing and ammo counters are definatley for the garbage bin.

How to create a convincing convoy in the Editor?

Well there are a lot of convoy types. I mean a convoy as far as i understand is a group of transports or vehicles. So, a general outline id use for a convoy would be for lets say a truck convoy. A lead vehicle like a light jeep/armored car 2nd vehicle should be something like a BMP (with infantry ofcourse) And then 4 trucks And a rear vehicle (something more powerfull since the first vehicles are basicaly cannon fodder for stachel charges and mines), preferably a tank. And then just multiply the escort for the ammount of trucks (example: for 8 trucks: UAZ--- BMP--- BMP--- 8x Truck ---Tank ---Tank --- UAZ) and myb throw in a shilka or tonguska for AA. If your making a armored column then the same just stick tanks and have more AA since armored columns are the mince meat for choppers. It depends alot on the type of convoy. -

I dont think he mentioned the unrealistic armored fighting, but he whines bout only 3 guys in a abrams (its missing the loader WITCH DOES ABSOLOUTLEY NOTHING BESIDES RAMMING SHELLS INTO THE BREACH!!!oneoneone). And he seems to thinkg that having 1000 v 1000 guys = hyper realism. Dude should check at what sizes modern battles usualy occour. -

Dude, did you notice that practicaly 3/4 of the forum think your whining is pointless and that Realism doesent = 15km Draw distance? Its nice for spotting enemies, and does give you time before the enemy arives, but then again, all you could do is lay flat on the ground with your squad and shoot the other guys till one team dies "ala" napoleonic wars... As a matter of fact, i noticed that that is what you want. 15 km draw distance, OFP terrain quality (as in no cover, concealment), 10.000 guys on a map. Heres a tip, get ArmA1, set evreything to low (myb eaven make a mod that makes evreything super low) and then find or make a napoleonic wars mod and tada! You can have 15 km draw distance, countless AI running around without much care for their lifes. -
Sure its just like CoD, by crouching you heal, you take 5241249124924028309 round before dying, Javelins go straight up into space and then back down, you can go all john rambo on people and spam nades from one side of chernogorsk to the other. Cobras go down to 2 meters to rocket a building and the US army uses helos for cannon fodder sending them into a heavily defended city etc. Ye, that sound just like ArmA2

Yes, the ArmA1 graphics were just right for the job, just the effects should be ArmA2. The explosions looked wierd in ArmA1 -

It takes a little time to recentre the weapon. Without sights check the little line thats in the centre of the crosshair. It moves to show where barrel is pointing (at the ground when running etc.) -

The trouth is that many games belong on the PC (RTS, FPS, Sims, MMORPGs) while other games belong to the console (Fighting games, Racing games etc.). I have both PC and Xbox version of OFP and eaven tough i love the Elite version for xbox i do find it quite limited and pointless (auto aim, dumbed down editor, no mods)

Yes it has one and he does what his name implies: LOADS!!!! Dunno what kind of pearson likes to watch a repetetive animation of ramming a round and propelant down the gun... And the TUSK variant has a loader witch uses a MG so in all respects you would need tonnes of useless positions in different vehicles. C-130 copilots and flight engineers, flight controllers, landing crews and loading crews for reloading, UAV control centres with UAV pilots etc. Do you know how many positions are missing in ArmA?! The command tree goes from Commander directly to squad leaders, there aint no General, Corp Commander, Division Commander, Company Commander, Platoon Commander, Squad Commander and Fireteam leaders and the unknown hundreds of positions inbetwen, radio operators, inteligence officers etc. But all you want is the pointless loader? ---------- Post added at 03:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:03 PM ---------- In reality you dont have perfect focus when moving your head, try moving your head and tell me how much stuff you can make out? -
Meh, i got a 3 or 4 year old PC that cost my parents something like 1200 (PC+ LCD + Keyboard and Speakers) and i got a new 8800GT graphics card since my dad had this great idea that PCs dont need to breathe so the old one got fried. It doesent run like butter but its very much playable

Yes, they are quite unreliable. I dont remember this in OFP, AI took a deep drop in reliabilaty from it. Probably the huge numbers of objects on the map just fry their little cyber brains. OFP had like trees, bushes and houses and maybe some sandbags and barbedwire at best. I love it in OFP:E where you can make a AI squad get into a hind and fly to a location and have the soldiers patrol around and the hind flying over :D Too bad you cant script, would be nice

OFP1 was awsome but ArmA2 has alot of new things that realy draw me in alot more. Like a tad bit more cover, actualy cities (Haleluyah!) not those 3 house micro vilages, an awsome map, artillery etc. But you just cant beat OFP1 in its spirit. I mean, you didnt eaven know who you were fighting for the first few missions (Yes its ivan, not its not the russians, they would tank rush trough europe etc.) so unless you read the story on the net you wouldnt be preaty confused for the first few missions, and the fact that you actualy werent always the team leader! And the speach Victor Troska gave to his men at the start of Resistance "Gentlemen, its good to see you. The situation is very simple... Were screwed. Theres no way we can defeat the soviets, there better trained, better orginised, better equiped and they outnumber us. Victory is impossible... Any questions?" :D Oh and Gastovski, James Gastovski OFP1 = ArmA2 Cant make my mind up. Who made the original story and campaing for OFP1? Cuz neither ArmA nor ArmA2 have come to eaven 1% of the glory of Cold War Crisis and Resistance.
