Thanks for this, arma 2 is my GOTY. Absolutely love it and the xpacs. Best community I have ever played with and the mods are unbelievable also the creators are always on the forums. I will be buying this day 1 for sure.

I have a patch that changes the .exe of a game to utilise the extra ram of a 64bit OS. I have used it on silent hunter 3 and 5 and also some other games and the improvement is great but would it work on arma 2 and OA? thanks.

What codemasters did by using the operation flashpoint name to sell dragon rising is blasphemous to the work that BI do. ARMA and ARMA 2 and OA are the greatest games in my game collection and one of the reasons why I will never leave PC gaming. The editor, the mods and the freedom this game has is unparallelled and has never been equalled. Buy it, enjoy it and never look back.

I always use my iphone to browse the forums when I am on holiday and I really enjoy the arm2 forums. But anytime I browse the arma 2 forums, I want to be at home on arma 2 and OA. WHY????? I should be enjoying my holiday not wanting to be at home on A2.

I know BI are a small company and I can't believe what they've done with arma 2 and OA. They have put multi million corps. like EA to shame with what they have done. But I fear that there won't be an arma 3 as they must get little return for what is the greatest open world game I've ever played. Do they see an arma3 in the future or is this it for them or will they take arma 3 to the consoles in a scaled down environment? Thanks.

I have a problem when I start the six updater console. It starts, shows an error and quickly flashes off. But the six updater GUI starts okay and shows that it is fully updated. Why is the console doing this?

I have the GUI updated but when I access the console, it flashes once and then disappears. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled with the latest. Help please.

I disabled hyperthreading in my BIOS and it has really helped the framerate. But what advantages does HT give me and what disadvantages will disabling it do to ther games and programs? I am running a corei7 with a GTX295 and 6GB ram with windows 7 ultimate.

Thanks for the help Ethne, you have always been a great resource when I needed info for arma2. You seem to be getting a hard time but I value what you have written. I am going to disable HT in bios as I am a gamer through and through. Can you tell me if having C1E enable in bios affects my core i7 920 OC'ed to 3.4GHz? I ask as I noticed someone saying that the voltage changes can affect cpu stability. I thought I might be saving the earth by saving on voltages being used but my cpu comes first, sorry eco-warriors;) I will be OC'ing to 3.8GHz soon as I did a stability test and my max temps were only 50C although I have my cpu watercooled and also my X58 classified MB is watercooled too. Thanks for all the input everyone but I love arma2 and love it even more after playing operation flashpoint: DR. Please BI, never compromise the arma series by moving to consoles.

I have heard that windows 7 utilizes HT. But thanks, I think I will disable it in bios.

That is frightening that that happens. Is there any other games that this happens? Thanks for the help, glad that a change in the command line means that HT will not be disabled in all games. BI obviously did not have HT in mind when developing A2. Is it better to disable HT in bios or use the command line?

Can anyone suggest which ramdisk to purchase for 12GB ram for windows 7 64 bit? This info looks great and I cannot wait to try arma 2 with it. When I strat arma 2 with this does it load the files into ram and how do I free the ram up again? Do I need to restart or does it leave the ram when I exit the game?

This is fantastic and very informative. How much RAM do I need to load the stock game with no mods into a RAMDISK and which RAMDISK is the one to buy? It would be great for a step by step instruction for the non-technically minded like myself to get the game to run as optimal as we can on a PC with windows7 64 bit and 12 GB RAM. Thanks.

Which ramdisk is the best one to buy? Also what files are the best to put into the ramdisk? I know windows 7 needs memory so how much woul I have from 12GB to use for a ramdisk?

This RAMDISK method sound fantastic. I have 12 GB RAM that goes totally unused so I took out 6 and have 6GB in storage. It would be great to plug it back in for arma2. How much of that RAM can I use for arma2 as I am using windows7 64bit? Also do I need to keep the necessary arma2 files into the ram before I play or can I configure it to do it once I load arma2? Sorry but last question, which ramdisk software is the best one to use? Thanks for all the work and testing and I can't wait to see what the optimal results are.
