    The Undead Mod

Are any servers running this lately?

New Medal of Honor game trailer

Maybe it will have lean and in doing so will be infinitely better than MW2 as a matter of general principle.

    Coop Zombie Mod

Yup, we need a zombie mod
  4. This was in the init of the latest Chernarus Life. I'd really like the opinion of BI on this. Can a community member "copyright" code that you own? Also, what is your opinion on servers running a monopoly on missions / scenarios with licensee-copyrighted mission code? Thanks

lol moral right? Authorship? The code was authored by BIS and arranged by some self-important developers with a stick up their ...well you know. It's ok. We already have a stat saving prototype. Easier than I thought.

An raise awarness that there is a wider RPG community within A2 that requires some love from developers. ...not control.

Good luck man - snobs take great pride in making other people bust. If you are not part of their inner circle you will only get to play for a short while before being banned for refusing to pay a 2000 ticket for making a u-turn in the middle of nowhere. What a pathetic self-centered community they are. ---------- Post added at 03:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 PM ---------- Let me explain it to you. You don't have to viciously control the mechanism that saves stats / settings. A mySQL database could be setup that would allow other servers to access stats saving. This way your e-peen stays rubbery. It would also be theoretically less taxing on the server. But that would make sense and why should we expect you and your community to do anything that makes sense and is not narcissistic? Your attitude will mean the eventual death of your community.

I'll be checking it out then :)

    Multiplayer rant/suggestions

I'm willing to be the original OP would burst into flames if he ever played any RPG scenarios. I hear one has to download more patience. It's alot of fun...but it's also a lot of work. If you give it a go, try to team up with other civs. Don't play cop at first.

If no one actually benefits financially then what's the big deal if someone uses it to create something different? Saying "I made this" -vs- "I modded this?" If every decision for a greater good was A /= B, nothing would ever get accomplished. Besides, imitation is the single best form of flattery. I'd revel in the fact that the community is itching to enjoy my scenario and would do everything in my power to ensure the community was served. Instead they are worried about evil masterarray.sqf boogiemen who will change the paycheck amount from $10 to $1000 and alter the "copyright" notice on line one of every single script. I just don't buy the 'protecting' our mission crap. I find the notion of controlling freely available code an impossibility, and thus laughable. So lemme get this straight - we can't use the discussion forums to discuss this? Why exactly?

Will City Life be as cop-sided as Chernarus Life?

    Sahrani

Ok so the real big boy would be to stitch Chernarus and Sahrani together so we could have full on national conflict...or is that what we're talking about here?
  14. This seems pretty cool. Should be pretty easy to model a C-RAM Anti-Mortar System.

Alright, yet for all intents and purposes, we use the code as an open source license would allow, practically speaking. I'm glad we agree on this because it's my major point. Asides from posting on the forums; how else are players supposed to communicate with the community? Telepathy? I respect hard work and perceived ownership, no matter how feeble. I am stating that there is huge demand for a stat saving CL package that a trusted server admin can run on their server. So why not give the community what it wants?
  17. Lincoln1stFJ

    I need this statement explained.

You don't get it. Players don't have property of this code. None of it. Why won't you share the mod with the community instead of expecting everyone to play on your server which is located 1000s of miles away from a huge playerbase? Vendetta as a result of what? Think logically, and from the perspective of a common player. And think "How could we best serve & benefit of the entire ArmA II community" and not how best to serve your own interests. I started nothing that was already common talk amongst the A2 RPG playerbase. While I understand beta, bugs, and dev cycles, I yawn at your e-flex regarding a ban. I could go on and on about bugs in your mission but I know they will eventually get fixed. They would get fixed sooner if you let the community work on them, and that's a fact. Why not let the community have fun with the scenario and enable long term play for other servers? - not just your niche community of people who enjoy playing cops but the community as a whole? Great? - still doesn't help the issue. Why don't you create a poll on these forums? Should ArmA-RPG release the entire package of CL Core so the community can enjoy it? ...because right now it's enjoyable to a vary narrow playerbase, and limited to Europeans with Est US sometimes being able to play. Have you not been reading? This isn't an opportunity for you to deliver ad hominem attacks on me because you disagree with my valid opinion, which is shared by many. Your attempt to troll only reinforces my snob observation. That's pretty sad that you'd ban me for voicing my opinion on ridiculous practices. There are other, more fun places to play so I am not moved an inch. If I am banned from your Utopian (Fargo?) server then I don't mind being martyred to cast some light on the ridiculousness of your instruments of control. It's not like your server is very playable. So, since you played table tennis with the ego, it's my turn. When are you going to release the full source and let the entire ArmA II community enjoy your mission? It's about the only way you'd ever get back into my good graces and avoid pissing off the playerbase.

    Chernarus Life (RPG)

My pleasure. This should be front and center in the community. If you really want people to know about your mod, make it more available to the community. It's not rocket science. I've been all over your web site, on your server, and read most of your threads. I've also been playing SL since it first emerged. I know the history of the RPG mission, and watched the (de)evolution of it's playability // rather a skew towards the law enforcement role. It might be fine for a narrow playerbase, but not the whole entire ArmA community. Now this claim to exclusive rights is over-the-top. I was mistaken about the ads. My apologies. Still, I can't help but be offended by the audacity in claiming the code as entirely yours and keeping it proprietary; expecting the entire world to play only on your server and by your rules. That is simply impossible and makes for a poor gaming experience for the community as a whole. Your group does a great job with that mod but why not let it be free and share it with the rest of the world? If you love something, you must let it be free, otherwise you're being selfish. The rp-mods.com community looks very selfish and moldy by not sharing it's developments (server-side scripts, latest updates.) with the ArmA 2 community as a whole. If you really want to control the code, you should buy a license from BI. Otherwise, you're just shitting in the community's cereal. I am not flaming, asides from incorrectly identifying a block on your website, what was a flame? I wouldn't waste my time authoring posts to you if I didn't care. How do you really think you will service the entire ArmA community? Earlier today I saw no less than 83 people playing a varient of your RPG scenario. Most of them were playing on "unofficial" (lol) servers.

    Chernarus Life (RPG)

I have no complaints about the performance of the mission. Bugs, features, etc are all typically a work-in-progress. You only want people playing your server so they go to your website where you get money from advertising and donations? Funny, if you embraced the community instead of snubbing it, you'd have a better chance of garnering donations and more traffic as people flock to your site to download addons, manuals, etc. But that would make sense and would equate to the least amount of "copyrighted" control of a mission. What it really sounds like you are saying is that you made this mission for yourselves, not the community. ---------- Post added at 04:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:10 AM ---------- Thanks to the snob level of your community, the other servers are more popular than the "Official Copyrighted Snob 1.02" server. It will only be a matter of time before someone reverse engineers the "Official Copyrighted Snob 1.02" version. What will you do? Maybe send some more of your script kiddies to the other servers playing a CL variant to run hacks? Really, it's pathetic behavior and your logic fails the most basic tests of community gaming. ---------- Post added at 04:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:13 AM ---------- They didn't make the mission for you ryan; They appearently did for profit. Since "no one" has a "valid" complaint - just head over to rpg-mods.com and donate some cash...even though you can't play it...while you are at it, set up a monthly subscription to them or risk racing the euronerdrage. Oh and be sure to click on some advertising so they get paid some more. But remember, the mission is not for you, the community, it's for their ego & manpurses.

    I need this statement explained.

"Taking" the mission and slapping your name on it is one thing. The other is allowing the rest of the community to host the mission so people in the US can play it - so it can spread. The only different on the "official" server is $10 paychecks and pay $200,000 for a map, and wicked advantage for the cop role. As I saw on their server earlier, someone wanted to rename it "A COP LIFE 1.02." That has got to tell the devs something. Expecting the entire RPG ArmA community to play on the office (draconian) server is a kick in the face to everyone who purchased the game. Community devs are supposed to make content for the community; not wave their mission authorship in the face of people wanting to play it. That's just dick. Claiming complete ownership of open source software is stupid and is detrimental to the community. The PBO isn't "encoded" - its just arranged very sloppy to prevent THE COMMUNITY from having more fun than the original devs...that is, if you call fun $10 paychecks when every element of their prized possess costs an astronomical amount of money...or spend 4 weeks getting enough $ to buy a skoda. ...unless you're a cop. Then you're set to get awesome e-peenie paychecks.

    Chernarus Life (RPG)

I didn't mod it but I will now. Most people just want to have fun with a mission. Not worship those who made it. I will agree, credit should always been given where credit is due. But these missions belong to the community - saying someone stole your work when you didn't pay for it is kinda off. lol, illegal - It's open source software. Or do you honestly think your developers are the only ones on the face of the planet that could develop the means to put/get statistics and game values from a database server? LOL - no one really cares about how you play but it's arrogant, selfish, and silly to expect everyone to play by your rules. You guys want recognition? You got it - your community is known on server circles for being snobs. There is your recognition.

    Chernarus Life (RPG)

I disagree since anyone can assemble the code to mimic any mission that's ever been developed for this engine. BI offers us "the community" the tools to generate any scenario. CL is a unique creation; it's not a unique concept. I don't thinking people are trying to steal, mimic, or mirror your community. I think they want a less restrictive gameplay and are setting up servers of their own. It's already common knowledge that your community lined up the 1's and 0's to make such a scenario. I hear lots of complains about your parent scenario on various servers when I talk with them about CL. "Stuff is too expensive" "Too easy for cops" "Cops can sell items for more than they paid" "The people are snobs" "I got banned for killing the admin by accident in a car crash" Balance seems to be the key theme in most of the complaints. If your playerbase feels the mission in unbalanced, then that will only encourage players to create modifications of their own. If the general playerbase finds their mission more fun, and people less elitist, then that less restrictive server will garner more popularity. Throwing the RPG mission in the community's face will only backfire on you. Thank you for the invite but I will decline your offer. I don't like playing with elitists. I'd much rather play the non-password community modded version of your RPG mission.

    Bigfoot...has anyone found him?

I saw him the other night on a BeZerk server. No one was around, I was in the woods and on the right side I got the fuzzy dot that indicates something is close by. When I looked I saw a figure at 50m and walking away. I ran after him but he ran off and disappeared behind some brush. I wanted to shoot it.
