    Oof at what noob?. AGEIA used their hardware PPU but it's no good without software code chappy, the same with GeForce or any gpu for that matter. PC Hardware such as GPU's are basically useless/redundant for their purpose without software code, lol at you noobhead.

    Pettka quite clearly stated that he/she? had tried PhysX in A3 on an ATI, lol. He/she never said physX was running on the CPU and the "ATI" GPU was doing the rest.

    ArmA 3 PhysX is used on CPU's and not GPU's. Why not make use of GeForce cards to do this?, or maybe they have?, it would make sense to use geForce GPU's and not CPU's doh!.

    Yeah i know that mate. Nvidia use hardware (GeForce) for software based PhysX.     Obviously misleading quote from pettka then. Of course radeon gpu's will be at a disadvantage, PhysX runs off GeForce cards and not the cpu's.

    Most physX games on the PC using just the cpu struggle. PhysX is nvidia's technology, i have read nowhere that AMD have licenced physX from nvidia, so how did bi get physX running on a Radeon gpu?. I'm aware of software physX, the xbox360 games have used physX for many years. This will be interesting to see what makes use of physX in arma3 and how bi used physX with radeon gpu's. ---------- Post added at 12:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 PM ---------- physX has allways been software based, but nvidia make their own ppu's built onto their GeForce cards. I presume GeForce cards will run better with physX enabled in arma3?.
  11. A tidbit about Arma3's assets once in a while would be cool. There is a long way to go yet before any sort of commercial release to the public, i would of thought more intel on the game will be incoming early 2012?.

    Exactly, and causing slow downs no doubt?, well from my experience cpu's struggle with PhysX. Something has changed then because a bi dev said framerates were ok in arma3 with physX and Radeon gpu's. Maybe i misunderstood what was actually being discussed?.

    Then how is it possible for PhysX to run on a Radeon gpu?, as far as i am aware Radeon gpu's don't have a physX chip built into any of amd's graphic cards. Unless of course it has all changed just recently?. I know my Radeon 5970 can not do physX without using modified radeon drivers in windows 7. Maybe someone could give me some pointers?, i could probably make use of the spare 5970 just sitting in its box doing nothing (except aging away :). Cheers

    I'm really interested to know more from BI about the PhysX revamped animations. I wonder if the devs have managed to utilise the PhysX with soldier movement, death animation and gear and cloth movement?.

Hello all My PC Win Vista 64-bit + sp1 and all updates Phenom 9950 BE @3GHz (overclocked) ATI 4870x2 + Drivers = CCC 9.4 4GB - 2 x 2GB DDR2 - PC2-8500 C5 @1066MHz 5.5.5.15.22.2T SB X-Fi em soundcard - SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0008 500GB sataII hdd I followed the advice from the original post and it works ok, infact i get slightly better frame rates in vista 64-bit compared to xp 32-bit. I can get the game to start up and play using the shortcut, but i use kegetys ArmA Launcher most of the time because of the mods. I have experienced several bsod's unfortunatley, and i'm not quite sure why?. But i seem to have smoother game with vista x64. ArmA-505 games, 1.16beta, vsync off in ccc 9.4.
