Should Roadways be texture or object?
raptor 6 actual replied to raptor 6 actual's topic in OFP : MAP EDITING (VISITOR)
Heh, well, first off, I used GlobalSecurity.org which had about eight satellite photos. I just used the scale that was posted in the lower left hand corner. I also printed out the pics, and went to a local printing company that made transparent overlays for me. But the main thing I've used, is the knowledge (and I could be sadly mistaken) that I am using a road piece that I think is 25m in length. So, I measure how far a road is, and use the roadway in WRPTool as a ruler. It may not be really pretty, but so far, it looks pretty good. Though I've just started. I can post some pics of the sat pic I'm currently using and show you the progress. Maybe you will be able to see the way they look the same. -
Any news on the textures or the units. Nobody answered to Evenlease44's query. So I thought I'd bring this thread to the fore front.

I have this .dem file and it's labeled like this (8699_75m.dem) and I forgot where I downloaded it from. Anyways, I've tried to find tutorials, and read the manuals for Wilbur and for WRPTool, but nothing helps me correctly convert the dem to a Lat/Long mesh.txt file in Wilbur. Everytime I follow the instructions, it actually saves the dem into some sort of .PNG file. Do I have the wrong .dem file, or what? I mean, Wilbur opens the file, it shows the land features, but wtf and I doing wrong. Before I get hammered for this question, please note that I did honestly put in some effort to researching answers before posting. Thanks for any help.

I don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread, as I only skimmed over each post, but Scud from CSJ has just released a PACV that is able to deflate/inflate the skirt, go on land (though he admits that AI acts a little wierd). Anyways, my point being that all of you are doing great. If we/I/someone gets permission from PhilCommando and Scud, do you think it's possible to remodel the skirts on the PCLCAC and make it work like Scuds PCAV (whew, so many acronyms)

That sounds cool XSparky, if i knew what you are talking about. LOL. I'm sure it will help alot of noob's, but doesn't anyone use WRPTool anymore? I'm still trying to get my Parris Island .dem into WRPTool and I swear nothing is working. Got any suggestions on it. Cuz i don't know if I'm ready to convert to Visitor just yet. But, I'm open to trying it.

Grr, stupid internet service. Anyways, I was asking you if you could try and convert it on your computer for me. It's a 75m.dem of Parris Island, SC which is the Marine Corps Recruit Depot.

Yeah, I've paid very close attention to the file extension that I am trying to save to. When it starts to save, it even says that it's implementiong Lat/Long mesh .txt and shows an indicator bar with progress slider. I thought, "What if it's just my specific computer that's causing the problem?" IE: does my version of windows maybe associate these Lat/Long mesh .txt files as some .PNG (microscam picture viewer) file? Anyways, I'm just wondering if the .dem file is the wrong size? Or if I should just introduce my computer to the wonderful world of flight. -

@Pablo, Yeah, thanks for the tut link, but I'm having trouble getting it into WRPTool, not WRPEdit, not sure if there is a big difference, but I'm suspecting there is something that separates the two. Also, this topic is in here, because the other link you posted is for Visitor. I'm sure wherever I posted it, it would bring complaints. So I figured here. Cheers mate. -

I was just reading what Jay wrote up above, and was wondering if we could get permission to edit the weight distribution on your models FK? A few of my squad mates want to stick to an all USMC loadout and feel weird sitting in Army equipment. IE: M113 that says US Army on it, or was it the CH-47, who knows, but I think you know what I mean. I'm still learning O2, but I have plenty of people to help. I'll even see about putting out a patch if it works. Thx for all of the hard work.

Thanks a bunch RKSL, that'll help lots. Cheers mate!

yeah, so I've searched the forums and have found a few posts about stretchers, but none of them have produced anything. I saw a post just the other day where a guy made a baseball bat in just a short time. Anyways, I'm no good at O2, trust me I've tried to make one. Please help. I will texture and make all of the animations for the crew, I just need the basic model.

Oops, sorry about that, but thanks USCG pilot. I don't know how to go back and delete that portion of the intro. But I'll put that in my memory banks, lol. Anyways, I looked in MapFact's pack and I'm declaring "No Joy!" I'll keep looking. -

Ha, trust me, even the guys in Safety's squad (IE: Me) can't wait any longer, but you certainly wouldn't want any less of a great addon, so Safety is still hard at work on them. Hopefully, soon _X.. <--- fingers crossed for you noob's, lol SSgt DocRptr USMCsquad -
I know that in OFPAnim I can make like three different animations of swinging bodies that are strung up on the gallows. But, is it possible in the OFP engine to make a body swing in response to a gunshot. Yes, I know that someone will post that it was done in Brothers in Arms. I'm just wondering if I should even attempt it. Will I have to make multiple animations and tie them into scripts that detect where the bullet impacts so that the body will swing in the right direction? (IE: you shoot the guy in the stomach, he needs to swing away, etc, etc.) Thanks for the input.

Obviously, I can't speak for Safety, but let it be known that he's probably hard at work on finishing these delicious troops. Keep up the good work SafetyCatch, can't wait for them. -
Heh, perish the thought that no one else cares about WWII. Just kidding! Yeah, I have to say, seeing all of the great work you guys are doing has sparked my interest in the WWII campaign in OFP. Keep up the good work. DocRptr

Yeah Fragster, but to be honest, I agree with Wa Va Voom, in the fact that it would be cramming it into an old engine. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love OFP just as much as anyone, and I'll stay with it until the end, but that's alot of work to edit every addon. Anyhows, good luck with the idea, I'm sure there are addon makers out there that will scoop this idea right up.
