  1. I hope no one takes this in the wrong way. But, try and look at some of Norrin's "attachTo" scripts. Take a peek at how he did it, play around with it, make friends on the side and try things out (IE-get a few guys that are good in scripting, a few that have Oxygen installed correctly, and things like that). I am a big proponent of learning how to do stuff on my own instead of asking others. Though, tbh, I do have to ask alot of people. I've even had to ask Norrin for help. Which leads me to this, don't be afraid to ask the well known people in the community for help. I am a total noob to this scripting stuff, but the experts seem more than willing to lend a hand. I beleive that if it's in VBS2, then some how or another, we can get a version of our own into ArmA 2 to make it the same. If you need, I'll try and help out some too, just let me know who's picking this idea up, and we'll look at it together

    9 Line Medical CASEVAC Script help

    Thanks alot Norrin, Now, I would like to ask all of you...what version of dialog do you like better? Seeing as how I don't have ArmA with me to get a dialog ingame as of today, would you like having to type all information in as they do in VBS2? Or map click to pick the location for the lz, and drop down menus for the other options? Also, I would give like up to 6 patient slots for lines 3 & 5, if you don't have that many wounded, you'd just leave them blank or select "N/A". With T-Rex's suggestions, I would use the find nearest road or lz to let the AI pick the closest, appropriate LZ to land at or drive up to. The only thing I don't think I'll implement at this time, is the fast roping onto a building to secure the LZ, with our luck, the AI in ArmA 2 would just fall off creating the need for yet another CASEVAC. Again, more suggestions and help is appreciated. And if anyone knows how to animate two soldiers carrying a litter, that'd be awesome, lol. j/k.

    Thx Meatball, and btw, have you actually ever heard the 9-Line request being called in? If so, talk to me on MSN pls. It'd be a lot of help to make sure the proper sequence is being scripted in. IM me at [email protected] As far as the scripting goes and the project, I'm away from ArmA 2 for the next week or so while doing Xmas stuff with the family. I have been doing some research and looking at other scripts that have already been made to help cut down on some of the work load, but I need to contact some of the authors. Right now, I have in mind using USMC vehicles for the CASEVAC versions, but the script will be setup to allow for the changing of any aircraft a mission maker wants. For example, when OA comes out, I'm sure people that use Binkowski's ACU units would like the medical version of a CH-47 coming to their rescue. I guess it's all to preference. So, anyways, it's all being planned out atm, I'm looking at adding stuff, and eventually will have to ask for some help from other more gifted scripters, but hope to not take too long on coming up with a playable beta ASAP. When I first started, it was just an idea to allow a person to get a dialog to formulate all of the correct answers needed for the nine line, but then Norrin mentioned the fact that he always thought of a plan like this, but for a single map click for medical help to arrive. My plan is a bit more involved, but will add to the realism aspect of the game. Thanks for the interest guys, talk to you soon.

    Actually TRexian, thx to you, I will now implement that. I hadn't even thought about the problem of AI not knowing where to land...especially if the enemy is nearby. I will probably talk to Mandoble about implementing his Helo script. Thx again, I will definitely look into what you posted as possibilities.

Update: So far, I was just trying to get some ideas from people and to make sure that some of the other aspects have been lined up. I am currently working on just the MP part of it. Which is, one player entering the information via dropboxes and then formulating a response that will be read out to a live commander controlling the HMLA or air wing. But don't worry single players, I am still laying out the plans for both SP and MP capabilities so that, as explained above in my first post, when you finish entering in the needed information, a certain "hidden" score will be tallied and depending upon the total, will spawn one of a few options: 1) Unescorted Airborn CASEVAC 2) Escorted Airborn CASEVAC (maybe an AH-1Y) 3) Unescorted Land MEDEVAC (M997 Medical HMMWV) 4) Escorted Land MEDEVAC (Med. HMMWV w/ Light Armor) It all factors in whether the distance from the wounded to the Battalion Aid Station (BAS) is near or far. Whether you have one or more casualities, what their precedence is, the fact of whether they are US or Enemy or Civilian, whether the LZ is safe or hot, and finally, whether there has been NBC usage. This will all be figured "behind the scenes" via the script, then you will automatically receive the appropriate response...hopefully :P Keep tuned in guys.
  6. I have searched yahoo, google, and the forums here and can't find the d/l link for the ACEX_SM file. Plus, after updating via SIX updater, I can't locate any sound folder as such in my directory anywhere. I can play ACE 2, but I no longer have rifle sounds ingame. All I have now is just the sound of the bullet impact down range. Hopefully, once I get the SM folder, I can hear sounds again. I went back and deleted the SIX updater.pib file or something of the sorts, and then made sure to run the updater as Administrator and finally got my sounds back when it updated to version 189 on ACE_Core. And the latest update to ACEX. I still don't have the SM folder, but i'm just happy to have my weapon sounds again. Hope this gives someone else a clue where to start if all else fails.

    WOW!!!! Outstanding job there. I love the detail on the interior of the chopper. Am anticipatingly waiting to try it ingame and setup some casevacs using the ACE revival stuff with it. Will make for some epic missions. I'm not requesting...just trying to find out...but will there be any medical litter setups for the Sea Knights? If not, no biggy, like them just as they are already.

  11. Didn't the Stryker in ArmA 1 have that kind of idea? I mean, when you got in as driver, didn't it show you a representation of the IR monitor that the drivers use in RL? Maybe you could build off of that idea, just aiming the camera to different sections. But, obviously, if I'm even remembering correctly, it was only one shot, and you all are talking about 2-4 camera angles. Nevermind, I just went back to A1, and see now that it is only a .paa file with a small alpha channel window allowing the driver to see directly infront of him/her that they'd normally see. Not a "different" angle as I hoped. Good luck on finding a solution.

    The LHD in utles

    There are two posts I'll find and put up here in a minute or so, but one is Mando's Heliroute, which will help AI get to the LHD and I believe even land on an pre-defined area, the second is a thread about carrier landing problems, which may have some solutions for you. I also remember a thread that discusses the fact that BIS used invisible walls to keep AI from falling off the deck. Might be a good idea to keep the LHD carrier crew from walking off the plank.   13. I believe it is possible, though I don't know every step in making it happen. I would think that you need to make the image into .tga format after maybe making an alpha channel for it. Follow the instructions from this link on making your image into an alpha channel in Photoshop http://www.ofpec.com/tutorials/index.php?action=show&id=157 From that point, someone else can possibly help you pull the image up once the trigger is activated. Good luck, and I'll keep checking back to see what is posted as far as a solution goes.

  16. I may be missing the point exactly, but why not just learn how to port addons over, if they can be......or, ask the creator to help out, ......or wait for someone else to pick up the project? I DO however understand that alot of people don't understand all of the BIS tools and things, and some people don't feel like downloading a hellacious amount of specific addons just to join a specific server. This probably doesn't help, but I'm right in the middle kinda. Just my thoughts, always good to see different ideas pop up.

    FlexiAI (WIP) discussion

    Love the work mate, just love it. The reason is because, in real life, not everyone just runs straight out and engages the enemy. Sometimes you have to use your brain housing group to realize the best way to win is to avoid detection. Your work, along with many others here, are finally putting the intelligence into Artificial Intelligence. Good luck with the progress.
  18. I voted for more realistic. Though there are players in our community that make flying BIS helos ingame look like an art, right now, anyone can just jump in and take off. Alot of squads I've seen, are trying to base their teams on realism, and would probably love to have a dedicated Flight section that is "trained" to operate the more realistic aircraft. I always wanted to do a more complex idea of the OH-58D Kiowa, whereas you can operate the different switches and utilize the capabilities of that helicopter. Good initiative mate, keep up the hard work.

    Since I am still relatively new here, can we not just email BIS, asking permission to release the MLOD? So as to either modify the LHD or create a new one? By "can WE not just email" I mean someone like myself or any other? Just a thought. Thanks Sgt_Flyer for doing the test though.

    Well, thanks for the update, and sorry to hear that you don't have much time anymore to devote to ArmA II.     I agree, I think this will be totally awesome, and as mentioned, it will actually lend itself to making the Warfare building UI more of a necessity. In future versions of ArmA, I hope this is a pre-included part of the programming. To the whole community- keep up the great work in making this the best game ever.

    @Kremator Sorry, I've been busy with some minor issues elsewhere. I do have another MFD that comes from the SU-34. I just need to get the RGB values for that Russian rust proof blue paint. With Mandoble's configurable script now, you should be able to implement all of the buttons. I'll try to PM you later today or tomorrow and let you see the alpha version of it so you can compare the RL photo to the one I made in CS4

    WIP JTD Fire And Smoke

    So seriously....Is there a way to extinquish the fires if they become too close to valued property (IE-a base, vehicle, etc.)? Or do you just have to sit back and watch 'er burn to the ground? I know this might be an issue for some other addon maker, but since you're doing such hard work, I was just finding out if you also had plans to battle the blazes. Love the work.
