  1. Read the thread. You will be able to download and use the ACE "core" features without all the extra units and weapons. As to the number of servers that will actually choose to use ACE without the extra goodies, that's of course another story. To be able to join as many servers as possibly I'd think most of us will end up downloading the whole thing anyway. dunedain: That's what was believed for some time, but apparently the ACE team found a way to deal with it (again, I think it has something to do with there being multiple mags with different velocity for each weapon, and that the weapon automatically chooses the right one of those). I agree with your thoughts concerning attachments, but then again I'm sure I've read discussions about it before and it seems the engine simply wont allow it to work the way we want it to. I wouldn't say that means there's no possibility to work around it some way though. I guess we can only wait and hope.

I think you missed one of the cool features with ACE, that make each weapon have its own velocity, even though it uses the "same" mags (I think it in reality uses different mags, just that it does this automatically, to adjust velocity based on the weapon). However, something I've been wondering about related to this is if the collision boxes in ACE are the same as vanilla ArmA. This would mean that a large sniper rifle would have the same collision box as a MP5 for example, which kinda defeats the purpose of offering both M4 and M16, for example, since the M16 have higher velocity but the same "size". Maybe ACE dealed with this too, and/or will do so in A2. Then it would of course be a different story. :) I don't think the engine allows attachments to be added separately, which is the reason of the huge weapon lists instead. Some people like the amount of weapons, other don't. Those of us who don't (I'm one of them, atleast to a certain degree) can just download the core package in A2 and then the weapons we want to use separately, I guess. :)

  10. My guess is your 8gb of RAM may cause some problems, have you tried limiting to 3gb or so?

    I'd start off by unbinding those keys in your controls, so that the player won't perform any other actions when pressing them.

  14. I want to change the scope on a weapon for personal use. I don't really wanna go into the modelling itself, just change scope that appears when I press the sights button, with crosshair, zoom level and everything, to let's say Arma stock ACOG. (I am very well aware of how wrong and ugly this would be, I don't really care in this case, thank you). How would I do this? I think the actual crosshair is just an image file, while the zoom level should be in some kind of config, so it should be pretty quick to put together? Would be interesting to know what needs to be done to get a complete "conversion" to ACOG, with the 3d model and all that, for that matter. Just in case. ;)

  16. Thanks, I did manage to get it to work now, just copied those config lines from the stock M16 with ACOG, seems to work fine. :)

I've recently started using this addon for my own little missions and it's great, rather than placing tons of units at random locations with about 50% chance of presence, DAC does it for me in a much nicer way. I ran into some slow down problems earlier today though. I'm creating a mission in Afghan village where I basically have four zones: Insurgents and civilians inside the village, USMC outside + WP-zone for them inside. I'm using ACE units. There's about 70 units total, which is less than I've played with in DAC before without any significant slowdowns, but with this particular setup I get, about half a minute AFTER the units have finished loading, around 1 fps. So, first I get the usual lag when everything is loading, then everything runs fine, units start to move etc, and then suddenly FPS drops to 1. I tried to isolate the problem, and I get the same whenever I 1. spawn vehicles, and/or 2. use the WP zone. Spawning infantry in a single zone is fine. Like I said, I've handled more units than this with DAC before, it shouldn't be related to slow computer or whatever. Could there be some kind of interference, maybe with the units config?   18. Suggestion/request: The sound when turning the turret in the various Abrams-variants, I think that's not altered at the moment? In any way, I'd suggest toning that down a bit, it would make quite a significant difference when gunning for longer periods of time. I enjoy your mod and prefer it when playing infantry, and that little tweak would probably make me use it for armour as well, since that's the biggest turn-off at the moment. Anyways, keep it up! (I know that thanks to your wonderful modular setup I can use other mods for vehicle weapon sounds, but I'm sure you're always open for feedback and suggestions :) )
  19. I'm getting some "can't find file oxplants\****.p3d" errors. I can still play the map just fine, but the errors are annoying. I was under the impression that the p3d-files only were for those that wanted to take a look at them, they shouldn't be loaded by the map itself (since their included in the pbo's already), am I right? I didn't experience this before I recently redownloaded/reinstalled the map because I thought I had some problems with it when joining a server (which turns out I didn't, btw). edit: Nevermind, I don't seem to get those anymore.

    Can't enable AA

    Like the topic says. I've run with AA before, disabled it to increase performance and left it at that for awhile, but now I want to do some more tweaking with my settings and I notice that I can't enable AA ingame. There's simply no other option than "Disabled". The only thing I could think of was that I had write protected the Arma.cfg (to keep my HDR settings intact), but I've tried unprotecting it and manually editing the FSAA-parameter to values between 1 and 4 (it was set to 0 and resets to that if I start the game without protecting the file), with the same results, no option to enable AA in game and no apparent AA effects either. Any clues? Specs: Pentium D 3ghz 1,5gb RAM GeForce 7800 GTX 256mb XP Home Tried with ArmA 1.14 and 1.16b I've also checked my nvidia control panel, AA is set to "application controlled" or whatever, and even forcing it on doesn't give me any noticable effect ingame (I wouldn't want to do this anyway since there are other games I want to run with AA disabled).

  24. Tried to join your server during an Afghan village mission tonight but I get a missing files error, "bk12_NET_hangers" something. I have the latest version of ACE and Avgani-Afghan (tried redownloading and reinstalling the latter just a minute ago to be sure, same thing). What am I missing? edit: Nevermind, I activated ACE islands and now I got in.

    Have you tried redownloading the patch? It might be corrupt.
