Maybe there is something wrong with the messages system? For some reason my IP address is banned for over a month now. I have send a PM to a webadmin and used " the banned IP address page" to send 4 messages to the forum admins. Up till now I have had no response as to why I am being banned. Could one of the webadmins please come forward and tell me if there is something wrong with the message system and inform me about why I am being banned? THX! -
@JW Custom, "Crackling sounds? are you sure it ain't the super sonic cracks from bullets you are hearing?".... :) I am sure. It was more like a digital distortion even killing my sound alltogether. Switching mode with the creative console would give my sound back. uninstalled the asus software, re/installed the creative software, and more importantly I upgrade the Bios. The newer Bios fixes known USB instabillity issues with my Asus P6T mobo. Now all is fine!

I have the I720@3,1, No HT, Asus P6T and 6GB 1600 mem but no crashes for me so far. I do have some crackling sound issues in Arma2 (re-installed the x-fi driver, hope it helpes) and other strange things (trackir software not recognizing hardware, after a few attempts it works, X52Pro stick sudenly not working in DCS black shark, having to reconnect to make it work again, etc.., I suspect the ASUS MOBO drivers) :) but thats for another threat.

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
amfitamine replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well, I just replaced my Coreâ„¢2 Duo. I now have an I7 920@3,1Ghz P6Tmobo but with the same GTX275 card, X-fi, win7 32 bit OS and drivers. To check my performance I always take a specific spot on Utes, using the editor with now AI units, look at a specific house and watch my FPS. With my C2D I had about 43 FPS but now with the I7 (no HT) and higher graphic settings I get 73. Obviously the engine (physisc, day and night, ambiance, water..?) is verry bussy but I am just wondering with doing what?... -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
amfitamine replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
@StripesReaper, I get 30 fps in the arma2 demo benchmark. Expect playable (although low @15fps and up) fps in the camapaign. The game is CPU bound (in our case). -
@Vanchatron, the game will get better (patches) and so will you if you give it some time. Don't return it yet. You have to learn new tactics and practice them. Stick your teeth into it and you will be rewarded. We all know it can be frustrating and it has a learning curve but it's relative. Try Black Shark DS for a change (flyght Sim), that's a learning curve....but oh boy is it fun (as Arma2 is IMO) :)

I noticed the same thing. In the editor I placed soldiers about 300 meters away but when they started fireing in my direction I could hear the gunshot at the same time as I saw the mussle flash and only later i heared the supersonic bullet crack....I know BIS uses the speed of sound so I was wondering if any of you do not have this "problem"?

A lot of people have problems with the AI skill level. For one it's to hard, for the other to easy. Asside from the menu you can further tune these setting by editing the cfg files but for a lot of people that's just to technical. So I was wondering if it would be an idea to add a dynamic or auto skill level to the menu. This would dynamicly set, for example, the AI's grouping en accuracy based on your own skills during gameplay. It should be possible for the system to determine what the players accuracy and grouping is. The AI doesn't have to exactly match yours but can't deviate to much. Maybe this way the hardcore and beginner alike can be challenged at their own skill level. Just a thought.

Alarming frames consumption from AA
amfitamine replied to POTS's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Using the benchmark scenario in the demo I get a 7fps penalty (GTX275, 20fps) for using AA (any setting) with Shadows on high or verry high. Using AA (any setting) with Shadows on normal or lower doesn't result in any fps loss what so ever (27fps). If I disable AA I can turn shadows beyond normal without fps loss. Hope this helps you too
