Should ARMA III have a better ranking system?

The best would be that BIS makes A3 3D-compatible, and later on figure out a solution for the "blind" Rift players. If A3 would be truly 3D compatible (smoke, shadows, UI, sight alignment) then we could use shutter glasses or whatever tech we have. For Oculus Rift users the interface (not visible keyboard) will be a potential challenge, and I'm sure good solutions will come. So please BIS, regardless of Rift or not, make A3 truly 3D compatible. Personally I will buy a Rift asap if A3 can be played in 3D without any artifacts or problems. Even if I have to learn braille....

I dont see a problem with difficult helicopters ingame. It's always been people who say "nah, I only crash it, you fly" and thats it. If you want to fly, then learn. I do see the point in having an easier mode in addition to TOH FM as some do not want to spend too much time practicing, but to make the helicopter nerfed so anyone, without any practice, can fly is a bad decision imho. I would love to get TOH expert into A3.

Sometimes its good to have control of what's happening local and global, so a local/global version can be useful. Regarding the different additem/addweapon/addmagazine/cargo, good question. Probably some good answers out there too? If not I guess backwards compatibility.

Warning!! Developers read this post ...
andersson replied to Alcaran's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Its hard to avoid them, and I guess BIS prio is to get the game into beta. Hopefully by then the game will be more secure, and as RuecanOnRails wrote, then the players want to continue to play. Then the easiest way is to buy the full game, if not you will sooner or later end up in the land of FADE. The first time is for free... -
I'm happy as it is. I dont want "beefcake 2000" soldiers. Standard size men is most useful when it comes to mods and different scenarios too. It's not all about stomping CQB. http://www.sovietrussianspetsnaz.com/spetsnaz_pictures_images_pix_photos_pics_photographs_galleries_gallery/spetsnaz_soviet_spetsnaz_russian_spetnaz_1.jpg (111 kB)

Please make "actions" more accesible ! i.e. open doors , climb ladders etc
andersson replied to DanD123's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I so agree. 1 - so many times people have blown up satchels by mistake when trying to board a vehicle or whatnot 2 - to be able to set off satchels as one see fit, not necessarily all at once 3 - to be able to pick up the detonator from a dead friend (always a bummer when the guy that should blow up something dies and you cant use the explosives anymore) -
I heard arguments why 3d person and crosshair should be enabled, so I can understand that viewpoint even if I dont want it. What is of bigger concern is: - permanent HUD WP info - HUD show group - auto report Right now in veteran the map is a big console game of info. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?149062-Everyone-gets-a-trophy-syndrome-has-come-to-ARMA&p=2327511&viewfull=1#post2327511 Regarding crosshair. I would like to have a local setting that overrides the server setting for them who have turned off their crosshairs. That way I could play on crosshair servers without having a silent rage :) That shouldnt apply the other way around imho.

-nosplash is working for me, but it takes about the same time to load the game.

What has annoyed me since armed assault is the default action icon hovering at the center of the screen. Apart from ruining my immersion it is also an annoyance when an action pops up straight in my sights, blocking it.. It's also, imho, to helpful to remind me to reload. In OFP I had some occasions that I got the dreaded *click* because I forgot to change mag. Even if its not a good thing to happen I miss it. And so many times I have to click back space to get rid of mission specific user actions... It's annoying/frustrating to get a text popping up now and then. If it pops up in the corner I wont bother me as it will not be forced to my attention. I will still get the information and can choose to act upon it. I suggest that BIS will move that default action icon to a corner so its less intrusive. Let our sights and view stay uncluttered.

The poll, so far, looks relatively close. Maybe too early to say how it will end, but if it ends in a "draw" I wish that BIS will wave their magic wand over the game and give us an UI we can modify. For me its not such a big deal as I can fix it with an addon, and I only play on private servers anyway. BUT I thought I might not be alone so I better check to see what people think.
-
Yes, bottom center is nice. So as I cant change the poll read the first one as "move it away from the center".

It worked just fine in OFP where the action menu popped up when you were close to an action. In armed assault they introduced this default action, which is very good, but they put that intrusive icon right in the middle of your sights. So I figured as it worked ok in OFP with the scroll menu popup it could work with an icon. Maybe they can make the icon a bit bigger so we will not miss it? I also think that the peripheral vision/attention is good enough to catch an icon popping up in the corner. So when you expect a 'get in' action you will notice it when it pops up in the corner. I used an addon to move it before and it worked just fine (thank you kju). I was hoping it could be default this time. Then I could put it all on BIS to make it optional and so on, as that seems to be quite common today :P :D

Friendly Fire And You: Learn The Uniforms

We saw the same in armed assault and arma2. A lot of new guys running in creating havoc. Then it calmed down when they got bored. -

andersson replied to DanD123's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I think doors are to slow. I open, move away, wait, and then they open. Arma2 speed was good. The change of order in the action menu can be a frustration lol. So many times I been stuck in a helicopter bouncing around trying to catch the 'get out' action, going into my gear menu and what not. -
I think its all good as it is. Alpha is to invite people that dont know what the game is about, or to show them who know but plan to stick to arma2 because they dont realize it is worth to move on.

Suggestion: Give us a "Force Outfit" module
andersson replied to rasdenfasden's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I think its a good idea. This could be combined with the ability to change into enemy uniform. The more control the missionmakers have the more interesting and unique missions will be made. Its not always about realistic milsim, sometimes we want to fight it out as red santas. A way for the mission maker to force the players to keep their red santa suits on would come in handy. -

Everyone gets a trophy syndrome has come to ARMA
andersson replied to g_rider's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
You are giving G_Rider more flak than he deserves. He know what this game is all about. His point is that earlier he could filter servers using veteran. Then he knew he could jump into a server and play without crosshair and 3d person (unless they tweaked the settings). Today when you join in a veteran server the settings are equivalent to arma2's cadet. Sure it's not hard to filter the servers differently, and yes public servers are 99% hopeless running around. Still one cant argue the fact that veteran settings are not what they used to be. -
Remove the crosshair ;)

What are the game devs plans for fixing issues during alpha/beta?

hiStream, I been in BIS world for the last 12 years. Dont you worry :) -

andersson replied to hiStream's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Don't you worry, BIS is watching us. They can be very silent for longer periods but they are busy little bees. It seems like they avoid discussions and debates on the forums as people read whatever they want into what they are saying. I guess they rather spend the time doing their job than debating? -
Aiming Deadzone with TrackIR woes...
andersson replied to AbortedMan's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
It's a bug. The only way for us right now is to choose between floating zone or trackir. http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=116
