New Beta Build 70709 is up!
Zipper5 replied to WillaCHilla's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Wow, don't be such asses. We're trying to figure out what exactly is different about our systems so that we can determine why the more recent betas cause Fraps to screw up for us. I have the game working 100%, and I have Fraps working 100%, but combining the two causes issues. It can't be Fraps' fault either, as it is so obviously a change in the beta patches that is causing this (if you took the time to read what we're on about, which I doubt you did). Tell me smart guys - how does one record footage of the game then? I love making movies or gameplay clips using Arma 2, and will especially want to do it when OA comes out, but if these issues persist, I won't be able to. Less PR from the community, therefore. I'm not the only one having these issues either, so that means more than just us will be complaining about this Fraps issue, just like with "that other game". No, BIS shouldn't have to undo the optimizations, no one said that. But they can at least tell us why Fraps won't work on some systems, be it due to not having more than 2 cores in your processor or what-have-you. That way we can try to work our way around it. Just because you're not interested in using Fraps for the game, doesn't mean others aren't. There's a whole machinima-making part of this community and if Fraps stops working for them then we have to resort to using lower-quality, worse programs which still might not work. So don't be such jerks to us, trolls. Kthx. -
Wow... I mean, I always knew BC2's hit detection was horrible (I stopped playing because of it) but... I didn't know it was as bad as that video demonstrates. :butbut: I may reinstall BC2 to try this fix, but also because that new Onslaught mode is coming soon, which looks like it has the potential to be great.

How well will this run with these specs?

Use this thread next time. However, I think it will run just fine for you. -

Seems to be working for some and not others. There must be something in common with our setups to make it not work... My specs: Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz nVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 1GB 2GB DDR2 RAM -
A GUID is a ID code generated by BattlEye that is unique to your IP or your copy of Arma 2 (not really sure here, $able can probably tell us) but essentially it means that even if you change your serial key, if your GUID has been banned you'll remain banned. You can't get around it as far as I know.

just got arma 2, tell me some cool stuff to do !!!
Zipper5 replied to longers2010's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Do this: 1) Place down the Ambient Combat, Ambient Civilians, Ambient Civilian Vehicles, Ambient Animals, First Aid (all 3), and Weather Modules in the editor in Chernarus. 2) Put yourself as either a single unit, or part of a group, whatever you want to be. 3) Hit Preview and enjoy. This is what amazed me in Arma 2 when I first got it. All of the Ambient Modules listed above dynamically generate either friendly or opposing forces, along with civilians and animals across Chernarus. Give it a few seconds to start and you'll begin to see towns populated, animals roaming the farmland and, eventually, all hell breaking loose when two or more factions confront each other. It's simply stunning. You can also look into the SecOps Module if you want randomly generated tasks for you to complete in said mission as well. When that happens, you actually give yourself a goal of the mission rather than just watching it all unfold. It's very impressive, and that would be what I recommend you do first. ;) Not recommended for low-range PCs, though. :p -

If it's something on our end it's very odd how it only appeared after using one of the latest betas, and how it disappears when going back to previous ones, what with the substantial changes to the engine... -

Why are those ugly moving 2D clouds from OFP and ArmA back? :butbut: I guess that's what that meant. Please BIS don't add these things again. The skies always looked so much better with these removed in OFP and ArmA, and it's no different in Arma 2. I think they look just as ugly as ever. :( -
Music system broken? Not same stereo as file.
Zipper5 replied to CarlGustaffa's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I believe all of BIS' games play sound files in mono, not stereo. Or should I say convert them to mono ingame. -

I just realized this, but... The German version of the OA boxart looks 1) a lot like OFP's, therefore 2) a lot better than the other version. -
Troubled mind, want to buy ArmA 2
Zipper5 replied to Gorgi Knootewoot's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I did the same, and the very first thing I did with it was burn it to a DVD. :p -

You're still able to apply all the patches after and including v1.05 onto the Steam version. You just have to download and run the patch yourself rather than doing it through Steam. There have been quite a few performance tweaks since release, so you can expect to gain some FPS in the full, up-to-date version compared to what you get in the demo. Your PC should run Arma 2 fine, so long as you're not expecting to get crazy framerates of always above 40 FPS. ;) I'd say go for it, especially if you like ArmA and OFP. -

I am talking about the British voice actor, Laqueesha. He put on a fake American accent to play Berghoff in OFP:E. It was cringe-worthy. :butbut: To me, Cooper's voice sounds naturally American in all the BIS games he's done voice acting for. -

That changes nothing. Believe me, I've tried many different things and the issue still persists. The only way to fix for me it is going back to 1.05, and it works completely fine when I do so. -

I don't mind Cooper's voice actor. He's been in BIS' games since OFP:E (he replaced Colonel Blake's old voice actor). He's actually a good voice actor, probably the best out of the new ones. It's that goddamn British voice actor who you can hear on the radio, who absolutely murdered Berghoff in OFP:E (seriously, you should have heard him. If you played CWR for ArmA, you would have), and seems to have returned to do the same in OA... -

Is the problem you're experiencing like this? tGuXltJAmtM If so I reported it a while ago but nothing was said about it. Glad to know I'm not the only one facing this problem. -

I'm sorry but... Why... Why does this Terry Graves character (the Delta Force TL) sound like Cooper when he's talking but then when the player starts to call out stuff he's got that British accent on the radio? Why is there even a British one? It sounds like it's the same voice actor who did that terrible job at doing the "white" Berghoff in OFP:E... And is it just me, or does everyone in his team have the same radio voice actor, which is actually Cooper's voice actor? -

No, I was responding to the fact he doesn't want to be reminded that he's playing a game. ;) -

That's just... I dunno what to say... Sad? :( -
No, it just seems that servicemen have an inclination to hate this movie. I've yet to meet one who disregarded the realism discrepancies and reviewed the movie on it being just that - a movie. Not that I'm saying it's a good movie, nor that it isn't understandable for them to have said inclination.

To be honest, I want to be reminded that I'm playing a game. If I wanted reality I'd join the army. But I don't mean to sound like one of those trollfags who say that about simulators, I just don't want uber-realism nor an overly-arcady experience. -
ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
Zipper5 replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
It was just massively slowed-down in parts, probably using setAccTime, and then either left as it was or sped up a bit to mask the FPS. That's probably why there was no in-game volume. ;) -

Lol, so many spelling mistakes... Zarbadag. :p It also lists Reforger and Ghost Waltz as being in the same song... And doesn't list the use of Logistics... And lol @ the tank getting stuck behind the flaming wreck... I just... BIS - do you realize the kind of awesome videos some machinima-making members of the community would make if they got their hands on the preview version of OA? At least, compared to what the press is pumping out... Seriously... :j:
