Just testing the engine, this time with lots and lots of T72s No lag whatsoever. I love this game **edit** Before everyone starts shouting at me for not posting specs :P AMD 64 X2 4200+ GeForce FX7600GT 2gb 667MHz DDR2 RAM (2x 1gb)
  3. @USSRSniper Because they're just simple grey boxes, they don't look too great. But then, i've gotten used to it already and now prefer it over the OFP editor. I guess most of these complaints will die down in the next few weeks when people start getting used to the changes and accept them. @EvilNate Here's some pics of a guy at 65m
  4. Thanks for the mirror Mr Burns

    ARMA DISSAPOINTMENT

The game cannot suit everyone's taste from the start, that's what modding is for. So like I said, you either have to make a new set of animations, or find a new game.

    ARMA DISSAPOINTMENT

I have played CTF when I first started getting into OFP Multiplayer, and I can say without a doubt, the play style is similar to CS (which I have also played), it's all about twitch kills, fast mouse movement and getting to the objective as fast as possible. Tactics are almost non existent as the maps are so cramped and linear. For twitch gaming I would much rather play the latest Unreal Tournament in instagib mode than OFP. Flashpoint and ArmA simply are not suited to this type of gameplay, and never will be. Sure, it's possible to play like this, but not to the same degree as games actually designd for these game types (ie: UT and Quake). Of course, as with almsot every aspect of ArmA, this can be modded, as demonstrated by the Ninja addon for OFP (check ofp.info to see what I mean). The speed of movement is controlled directly by the animations being used, modding these changes the entire feel of the game. So, if you don' like the stock animation in ArmA, there are two options. 1- Find a new game 2- Create a set of animation specifically designed for fast paced CTF/DM

with camera.sqs, I belive the button to press was "command fire", CTRL as default in ArmA. The mission files are in MyDocuments/ArmA/Missions and MyDocuments/Arma Other Profiles/User/Missions

    Armed Assault is -AMAZING-

Have you heard americas army? First game that I've heard where the effects really makes the game sound real... video I was looking for a musicless vid for over 15 mins but found nothing but this, but even in this clip you can hear the difference... And yes, the sound in BF2 is lightyears ahead of arma, I for one is not ok with that... Yes, I have played America's Army, but still prefer Armed Assault's sound. The thing I like about the sound in this game, is that, in a battle with multiple people firing, it actually sounds like multiple people firing, rather than a collection of amples from single weapons. It gives a much more realistic simulation of a battlefield experience, in my opinion. But then, sounds will always be down to opinion, as completely unrealistic sounds can feel more immersive to some people than totally realistic ones. It' all about what feels right, rather than what is actually 100% on the spot, and I think ArmA has done very well with sounds.

    Armed Assault is -AMAZING-

I'm no soldier, but from watching war videos taken by the guys over in Afghanistan, they sound pretty authentic to me. Perhaps they're not 100% as they should be, but, they are good enough and get the job done. The overall sound of a battle is amazing with muffled shots from afar, high pitched snaps from up close, and a crack everytime a bullet passes your head. It does it's job in immersing me in the game, in my opinion, it's perfect.

I haven't experiened any of the issues you describe ethne, and the sound is certainly not tinny and low quality, they are some of the best sounds I have heard in a game. Perhaps it a problem with the way your sound card handles the game, or processor load, rather than the game itself.

    Armed Assault is -AMAZING-

I upgraded my computer specifically for this game last week, although I was on a tight budget of Å450 for a complete overhaul. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ GeForce FX 7600GT PCI-E 2x 1gb 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM The game runs perfectly one the default settings (medium in textueres and object detail, high on postprocessing and a few other things. The game is absolutely amazing, I made a quick mission in Bagango with 6 enemy squads on guard mode, three t72s, 2BMPs and a BDRM ATGM against three US squads, 4 abrams and an AH1 Cobra. The sense of immersion and realism was astonishing, the battles lasting longer, the sounds pulling you into the game like never before, and the animation, pure perfection. I simply cannot understand all the complaints made by the majority of game owners. Yes, there are some bugs, but they are definately not showstoppers, and barely detract from the enjoyment of the game at all. The only problems I've had in game are the first person view in a BRDM, a few LOD problems when moving fast in vehicles or disembarking, and the lighting inside the Stryker being way too strong. Other than that, I cannot complain at all. This game has better graphics than Oblivion, more realism than Resistance, and better sounds than any game I've ever played. Armed Assault is most definately the best game I have ever played. It has everything, great sound, great AI, great graphics, great environment, realism and best of all, modability. The only thing lacking in this game is the physics system, but that I've gotten used to in OFP. Overall, great game.

With animation packs such as the ones released by Sanctuary, the whole feel of the game can be changed.....

    ARMA DISSAPOINTMENT

As with any new control system you are obviously going to move slower when you start out, in a few days, or perhaps weeks, you will be more used to the new control system and erhaps even prefer it over the old one. If not, it just means a change in tactics.

    STARFORCE??? NOOOOOO!!

PLacebo has stated before that he, personally doesn't wish Starforce to be in any other version, and Morphicon (german publisher) have already decided on using Securom instead of Starforce. With 505 asking users what they would like to see in the special editoion, I doubt they wil be using Starforce either. I'm actually thankful that ArmA is being published by several, localised publishers for this reason. I doubt any other publishers will make the same mistake we saw in the Czech release... hopefully

Run and gun may ork i sme situations, but a stable firing position, suppressive fire and leapfrog manouveres work much better if you actually want to stay alive
