  1. Thanx, got it to work. I found out that you have to 'script' them in your island config, and then it works just fine.

(the lamps were placed in wrptool btw).

Could you give some light tounge_o.gif on the values for colordiffuse and colorambient?

  2. Hi all,

Is it possible to make custom streetlights that are lit during night, just as the original BIS ones without scripting?

You know, the BIS lights go on and of according to the time of the day, I wan't that for my own lights, is that possible or do you have to script custom lights?

And those someone have an config example for streetlights?

    Thanks in advance

  3. there is no way around the limit of 512 different texture types per island. You could make a very small island (32x32) which means you need 1024 textures or (16x16) which means 256 textures. Just remember that all those different textures have to be loaded ingame, which could effect gameplay.

  4. not to complain but, the ground textures dont really fit...

    they just look wierd imho...

All I can say about those ground textures, is that they are the best I could find for representing the ground on real-life Bonaire. Just notice that the ones on the pictures are just one kind, there are about 10 different types of ground textures and this one is indeed a bit blurry, but looks good ingame.

As for the objects, they are indeed all custom made, because nothing from RES or CWC seems to fit on Bonaire.

  5. thnx for the comments all! I know there are some texture issues, that's because they are in .paa format, Pac will ruine the cloud effect. But I will try the canocclude effect, I never knew what it was for, but I allready used it in my forest's indeed. I also experimented with round clouds, but it's very hard to achieve a realistic effect.

Anyway I thought of the idea to use the 'drop' effect to generate clouds with particles, but i'm an absolutely noob at scripting so if anyone wishes to help....

  6. Hi Phil,

I think your ideas are awesome, I always looked up to the sky in OFP and thought that it is a shame there are only flat layers of cloud's.

So I took your idea end put my own's in to it. It's ready to be released so if you are allright with using a part of your code, I will. This one is also lag-free, but the clouds ar not really 3d, just gives you the impression.

I put some screens in the General forum:

  7. I tried this new driver, at first I was very enthousiastic. I got a framerate-boost of 5 to 20 frames above my normal rate which was very fine with my old P3 1ghz. But somehow after playing like 2 minutes on large maps like nogova, the game crashes and comes to a complete halt. At one moment I got a bleu screen saying 'fatal error' in nv4-dll or something like that and windows was shut down. So I backed up to 61.77 again which works fine for me. So my advice stay away untill officially released.

    btw, I run a geforce fx5200

  8. I hope i'm don't bore you guys with my next update. I remoddeled the height model of Bonaire island to a more accurate size. You can see this in the first picture a comparison between a real-life picture and the in-game version. I cranked up the viewdistance to a staggering 5 km for this, so sadly you need an enormous pc to play with this setting, but it's just to show you how a part of the island looks.

The second change is that I created new ground textures for the isle, based on textures from flightsim 2004. The colors of the island not only look better now, also in flight the island looks more realistic. (picture 2)

The third change is the addition of a mangrove type forest and the first building, appearent in shot 3 and 4.

I'm sorry, the filesizes are a little over 100 kb limit, but that only happend after uploading

Al shots are uneddited except for resizing.

  9. Hi,

thanks for the kind reactions. As for some questions:

    1. Bonaire island has indeed a similar vegetation like the state of Arizona, so when released you can make your own Arizona island. tounge_o.gif

    2. The AI indeed behaves like it's a normal forest, so they will zigzag, and tanks drive around it. I'll see if I cn find a solution to that.

  10. Hi all,

A small update on the isle of Bonaire. I created a new forest type and optimized it together with the 'old' one. Thanks to Midship I got them follow the terrain nicely, which is always the problem with forest type objects. One thing about OFP what annoy's me a little is the very empty spaces on islands. So with forest type objects I tried to get the illusion of vast spaces filled with objects. The pictures look like laggin hell, but actually it's pretty well playable. Well, let the pictures do the talking:

  11. It's very strange, I didn't had any problems untill recently but I'm working at an object and some of my textures have a different color then before.

By example; I have a bush with some faces which all have the same texture but on some faces the texture appears lighter then on others... anything on that?

    Cheers,

  12. Well as some of you might know, we from Lowland Warriors finally started a real mod, featuring a large single player campaign, lot's of new addon's and some other goodies. We are in a very early stage at the moment, and we have room for addonmakers end texturers.

Anyway, after creating the Leusderheide I focused on a new island, in this case Bonaire. I felt that I needed some new foliage and so I dived into the world of O2 editing. Here are some early Alpha screenies of the new trees and forest type's which are found on the isle of Bonaire. These are my first addons so be gentle with me smile_o.gif .

  13. Show her pics of the latest addons and then ask her if OFP is outdated.

Show her pics of the old BIS units and I'd agree that OFP is outdated.

I agree.. There's really no newer game that could replace OFP. It won't get old until there's something better to replace it.

Benu: OFP is considered an outdated game except by a small stubborn community who has been around since the start. So unless you haven't played this game from the beginning I doubt anyone would find it good with games like Far Cry and Doom 3 on the market. OFP has so many ugly and terrible parts which the new players will notice far before they realize how good it really is. Those negative parts of the game only get's more obvious as time goes by.

Personally, I started to play this game only six months ago for the first time. This was because of the fact I was eager to play it before but never had a fast computer. Anyway, if you take some time indeed you will notice the beaty inside. And with all those addons it would be a shame to uninstall this game. This fast community keeps the ofp soul allive, since evry now and then, new discovery's within the game are made (dxdll, trains, etc...)

  14. well guys,

I'm trying to create this island as realistic as I can, because I have never been on Bonaire. A lot of credits go to Fischkopp, who created the forests. But everything is still in a very early stage so doen't expect this island on a short notice.

The real Bonaire features two major towns which will be represented on the isle and we will propably created new custom houses for this.

We will keep you guys updated on this one. smile_o.gif

  15. Thanks for your reply, indeed some textures are better then others. Indeed, not all the textures are on the Island. The Grass texture is not really my favorite, it's a bit to much 'pixel' like. And also the problem with the sand/desert texture is not very easy to solve, from the ground it looks ok, but from the air you can see the repetition, because one way or the other it still is a repetition tounge_o.gif .

Anyway if I don't get more feedback from you guys, then I'm not going to change it. So please if you have any comments let me know so it's worth to update it, because its a lot of work to make them.

    Cheers,

    Wouter
