  1. Hello all,

Some of may have seen my post in the Addon Discussion forum, but now here's the first Beta of our Fokker Vintage Series.

This initial release features three types of aircraft, all from the World War 1 era.

    - E3

    - Dr1

    - D7

All models come in numerous variants, and since this is the first release I will create some more, if you have requests, don't hesitate to ask.

The definitive pack will also feature a mission pack and aircraft from other era's.

    Download it:

Download link temporarily removed due to owner right issues

    (17,5 mb)

To use this pack you need the BIS Camel which can be found:

    Here

    (4,53 mb)

There is some extra information in the readme.

Any comments, hints, tips or help is always appreciated!

  2. To get some things clear, here's a little biography of Fokker:

Anton Fokker was born in 1890 in the Dutch colonies.

The family moved back to Holland for his education when he was 11, but he was not a very ardent student, and he only made it through his high school exams by means of a self invented crabbing-machine.

The one plane he and his class built was crashed by a pilot that couldn't fly and the course crashed with it. Instead of going back he built his own plane with money his father sent him.

In 1910 he flew it for the first time; in 1911 he was giving demonstrations and joy-rides in it to make a living. In 1912 he established a small aircraft factory at Johannisthal near Berlin. He became an aeroplane manufacturer and show pilot, constantly worried by financial difficulties.

World War I broke out and Fokker came into his own. Fokker planes became loved and feared.

During the war he introduced the gear system that made it possible to fire a machine gun through the propeller arc without hitting the blades; the propeller itself, by means of levers and gears, operated the gun at properly timed intervals.

After the war the Dutch government still hesitated to buy aircraft from Fokker, so he sold the salvaged (German) surplus war production to Russia. His first factory opened in Amsterdam in the hangars of the ELTA exibition of 1919.

A second main Fokker factory opened in America and Fokker became the largest civil aircraft manufacturer of the twenties.

In the early 1920s Fokker sold an increasing number of planes to the U.S. military, and in 1922 he established the Atlantic Aircraft Corp. in New Jersey. He also maintained a succesfull large aircraft factory in The Netherlands. The first nonstop flight across the United States was made in the Fokker T-2 transport. Richard Byrd and Floyd Bennett flew over the North Pole (May 9, 1926) in one of Fokker's trimotor planes.

During the 1920s and the 1930s Fokker concentrated on the design and development of commercial aircraft that were widely used in the fledgling U.S. commercial aviation industry.

The all-metal Douglas DC1 of 1933 meant an end to the Fokker supremacy. A last brilliant stroke was the beautiful twin-tailed G-1 fighter of 1936, nicknamed the Reaper.

Fokker died in America in 1939. The cause of his death were complications from sinus surgery and pneumococcus meningitis. He was cremated in the United States and his ashes were brought back to the Netherlands for burial.

  3. So, you like to fly just for fun? You like to shoot down other planes? Or always wanted a decent oppenent for the Sopwith Camel? Well guess what, it's your lucky day!

Lowlands Warrior presents the Fokker Vintage Military aircraft series which will provide you with a whole load of new planes to play with. Since Fokker made most of his military planes between 1915 and 1940 this will also be the era covered. So expect planes like the E3, Dr1 Triplane, D7, D21 and G1. All planes will come in several different variants/color scheme. PSD files ar set up to create a new type of texture in a matter of hours.

As always you can expect good quality addons from LLW. All models will have at least 5 to 7 lod's depending on their size. Textures sizes are kept to a basic 1024x1024 for smaller models, bigger ones will probably feature 2048x2048.

So for now I will present you some pictures, the initial release will feature the planes from World War 1, namely the E3, DR1 and D7.

Ideas and help are always welcome!

  4. Hi all,

since i'm not really into animating and stuff, I thought, let me post my question here. I want to rotate the wheels on my plane. I read through some topics about it, but I still can't figure it out really.

My plane has a fixed gear, so it should be really something simple I guess.

Mayby it's more a scripting question, but that's my weak point to, so if someone could help me out...

  5. Bonaire island... once went scuba diving there...

I'm assuming you'll be making the runway be right at the edge of the beach as per real life? I was always curious why no1 would sunbathe on a certain part of the beach untill the plane started landing  biggrin_o.gif

also the salt flats to the north/east and who can forget 'Pink Beach' (awesome beach, stunning) - and the national park to the west.

great idea for an island. I shall see if i can find any of my holiday photo's for you, although they're likely to be of me in my scuba gear  biggrin_o.gif

I'll make Bonaire as close as possible to the real life island, although it's a scaled down to 1:2 due to engine limitations, but still as big as Nogova.

If you have those pictures... all reference will be of help!

  6. Ok guys, it's some time ago we posted our last news, so I thought it was time for an update. At first we are working to a new release of Dutch addons including the much wanted standard transportation truck, YPR infantry fighting vehicle and new soldier models. Depending on how things turn out we might release them as a pack or seperate. Here are some pictures of the final versions of the DAF truck. Only some minor things need to be done, such as sound and config work.

The other update is from the isle of Bonaire. Currently i'm concentrating on the airport. I made some static cars for a nice touch, more static cars will follow. I'm considering releasing the cars as a seperate addon which can be used by island makers or in missions as environmental detail. All cars have less then 300 points in the highest LOD and about 40 in the lowest LOD. So system performance hit is kept to a minimum.

I would also point out that I and the other guys from LLW will continue our work in OFP AA and Game 2 (if modelling support is given by BIS). So Bonaire island will be released in the end.

Anyway, enjoy the pics and if you have some ideas, please let us know.

  7. Very nice addons guys although I do found some flaws. But first of all, there are only 2 LOD's per model, and the lower LOD has almost the same amount off details as the other LOD. This causes enormous system lag when playing in missions.

    Some flaws:

-in the YPR pri the gunner doesn't sit on his chair, instead he floats half a meter above it. Also it's better to have the gunner position 'closed' (i mean with the fence) because otherwise you can't use the gun (in real life version).

On the outside of the turret, the shell ejection holes still have there protection covers on them.

-the YPR 12.7 mm doesn't have a commander position

-On all versions; the idler and sprocket(drive) wheel have a different texture color then the rest of the vehicle which is kind of weird.

These are minor flaws which can be easily upgraded. But please do something about the LOD's. Anyway, for the rest very nice addons which I as a Dutch guy can appreciate very much. (I served on a YPR, so this one was missing in OFP for me) tounge2.gif

  8. As allready stated, i'm working on Bonaire which is a 1:2 scalled down version. The downscalling isn't a problem, the island is still big enough to fit everything on it.

And yes, it's a hell lot of work, so far everything on the island is custom made, from the ground textures till the buildings. It requires a lot of work indeed, but it's really fun to do. I also have to bear in mind the amount of lag created by the addons and indeed the AI compatability.

Anyway, it's possible to do a real island but requires more work then an island using 'standard' objects.

  9. Sounds, and looks good those retextured buildings, wanted to do something like that myself. Anyway, if someone want's to start a mod for that, I'm happy to do some textures between my Bonaire project obligations.

After all those new packs, and berghoffs nature pack those old buildings defenitely need an upgrade. notworthy.gif

  10. Fantastic looking airport, one of the most accurately spaced I have seen in OFP. What I wanted to know is what is that plane in the second airport pic?

That's Philcommando's 757 which I borrowed for the picture. If time allows, we will create some civilian airplanes ourselves.

  11. Well,

here we are again with some update WIP pictures. Work on Bonaire is gradually progressing, but since everything is custom made it takes it's time. What you see on the next pictures is Bonaire's airport, better known as Flamingo airport. After some fiddeling I managed to created lights along the runway which doesn't need any scripting, the just turn on and off according the time  you set.

The third picture is from the catholic church in Rincon.

    That's it for know smile_o.gif

  12. Summer is finally here and in honor of it we have decided to release some images of the progress on our YPR Tank. The tank is progressing slowly, but steady. Lately details like lights and prismas have been added. The pack will feature NATO woodland pattern and NATO Green camo. Currently the "dustbin" on the back and the interior needs finishing. After that it only needs LODs and a config...and testing of course. The tank will take approximatly 40 hours of work now, but due to real life, the tank will be ready later then that, most likey will take a few months. Stay tunned for more!

    ypr_765_PRI_june_26_2005_1.sized.jpg

We are also working on some miscellenious objects. In this case some sailboats, which are low poly models (less then 1000 points) for atmosphere and eye-candy in missions. They will be featured on Bonaire isle but when it's done it comes as a separate release.
