ACR DLC not appearing with missions or maps.
WisemanRAX replied to Whenchy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I also bought ACR on Steam and the new campaign does not appear. I've tried adding the @acr text on the setup launch for Armed Assault 2 Operation Arrowhead in Steam and all that did was it removed my Harvest Red Campaign. Update: As someone suggested starting Steam as an admin in Win 7 helped. I actually saw the install window for ACR this time and the ACR logo is displayed with the Arrowhead,PMC, BAF labels. -
These are are all guerrilla leaders that "changed the world" in the theater of war they were in. Some of them died during the conflict to inspire others and others were unsung heros in secret wars. I think these lists of leaders and the places they fought suggests that the next ArmA game will involve a type of guerrilla leader that will lead some movement,in Europe ( if you take the map as a clue ), that will play a role in a life changing event in that specific area, sometimes risking his/her life.

I think for one, to make the characters more believable is to actually get rid of the cliche sayings heard in the game and as NFO said, inventing crazy characters as well would not be realistic. I think first, they should get good voice actors and actually talk with current members of the US Army and just interact with them, hell maybe if they permit, kind of shadow an active duty officer through day to day duties on and off the battlefield to give the writers a more solid and believable inspiration to create dialogue. -
A graduate student in the university I go to has designed this vest as part of his research. http://www.seas.upenn.edu/media/feature-gaming-vest.php I think this would add to the experience of future BI military simulations.

"The gaming vest created by Palan demonstrates the growing importance of haptics in creating realistic computer simulations that may lead to improvements in human-computer interaction ranging from surgery to the military to the neighborhood movie theater." From the article itself and the youtube video

Maybe there is some problem with the Steam version? It would be nice to get some feedback from the developers.

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
WisemanRAX replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The requirements on Steam say that you need : OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster Memory: 2GB Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c Hard Drive: 10 GB free space Sound: Standard So I'm wondering if these are the minimum or the recommended requirements for Operation Arrowhead? I run ARMA 2 on high settings with my Quad Core 2.5 GHZ processor Geforce 9800 GX2 1 GB video card 4GB of ram -
In the Army it's called buddy rushes but your buddy has to provide covering fire while you move, and not just rush with you. At least that is what I remember.

I'm thinking of a mission where the player is hit by an AA missile and has to perform a crash landing. I don't really want it to be a scripted sequence but I want the player to control the outcome. The only thing is that I've tested it out in the editor and I've been able to do it successfully but at slower speed and lower altitude. However, I have not been successful at higher speeds and altitude. I don't really want to frustrate the person playing my mission but I also want to make it hard. The only thing I don't know is whether it is actually feasible to do a safe crash landing if lets say the player is way up there.

I always find it interesting that BIS uses real life names of towns that actually exist. This resort town near St.Petersburg is also near the sea just like in the game. I went there as a kid in the late 80s early 90s and it was a fun place. There is actually a famous song in Russia about it performed by Igor Sklyar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiioW5tcowo and here is the official site for the town http://www.komarovo.spb.ru/ I just thought it would be interesting for you guys to know.

I'm trying to capture Chernogorsk in the Dogs of War mission. All the of the enemy soldiers have been eliminated at the enemy strongpoints and in the town yet I can't seem to capture the city. What needs to be done? Usually when capturing a town, there is a horizontal red bar on the screen that decreases with time as I stand next to an enemy depot and after the bar is no longer there I successfully capture the city/town.
-
Thanks I managed to capture it. However, since I downloaded the 1.05 patch I had to revert because my previous save games were incompatible.

Real OPORDs, not just a mission statement in the game. I want to see all of the five paragraphs with timelines and all that good shit enclosed. All of this has to be done to US Army standard.

I have the GOTY edition and downloaded the GOTY patch so now it sits at 1.91. When I try to make the officers surrender a cutscene plays and then the game crashes back to desktop. Is there a way to fix this?
-
I don't think sys specs have anything to do with it. Anyone else who has this problem? I'll probably send them the files that Suma designated to determine the problem. Can't they fix this in 1.92 ?

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/download/patches_90redham.html It says you don't need the compatibility patch if you have the GOTY Edition.
