Any new ArmA II only betas or patches coming ?
-
I use that one too but I like the look of the X one above as the throttle is in the wrong place for me on the Evo. Will check out the X maybe as a replacement.
-
It will always come back to 'you don't have to use them' and they are compatible with older versions until the major release so no harm done. The cavalier way BI releases games and beta patches is something the community have put up with till now, can't see them changing their ways and performing pre beta release QC that is why they are released here to provide them free man power to test.

What's the difference between the two OA 1.54 update files?
thr0tt replied to msy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Does one need this if I didn't come up with the error during install ? Should I download the 'newer' 1.54 or just the mission_e pbo from the link or both ? I do enjoy cryptic BIS releases. -
ArmA 2: OA Beta Build 72967
thr0tt replied to MavericK96's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Has it fixed the massive drop in frames the latest patch has brought to the game ? -
problem after patch to 1,54 OA standalone
thr0tt replied to d4914fh's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Don't use the beta patch as it won't work with 1.54. Did you download a 187Mb patch from ArmA2 main page and run it ? If you did then that is all you need to do. Make sure you dont have any shortcuts pointing at the beta and its just running the normal game using the default shortcuts. -
problem after patch to 1,54 OA standalone
thr0tt replied to d4914fh's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You sound like you are running Yoma Tools or a 'launcher' program which is not looking at the correct path and still the beta to start the game. If its Yoma's Tool just go into settings and find the correct ArmA2OA.exe not the beta one. -
Added a horrible stutter for me ! Was happy with all the beta's yet the patch release adds a stutter, how annoying. Ok, will wait a few weeks for the next 'beta' and hope I can play again. Great work.

AddonSync2009 (downloader, launcher)
thr0tt replied to Yoma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Have you unchecked the Arma (1) is installed as you will always get that until you say its not installed. -

Import http://www.kellys-heroes.eu/Server.yas which will give you the Kellys Heroes repositry servers, you can then check the items you wish to download i.e. go to 'Download Addons' the 'Check for Addons', theres around 6+gb of data there so make sure you know what you want. -
New ARMA2 OA Beta Patch 72291 Available!
thr0tt replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Report back please as the LOD issue is a showstopper for me too. -
Wow, first time I have had such a bad LOD switching problem in a beta. Actually I find some of the buildings only stick to very low detail LOD and never switch out. Going to have to go back to previous beta. I do hope others report this problem otherwise it will stay in the next beta.

Vanilla aint bad and thats all I'm running until ACE2 for OA gets smoothed out. Stick with vanilla tbh as it sounds you are yet to really play that much so to form an opinion of sounds may be a bit premature. I am sure someone will come in here and recommend some additional mods but... may be better posted in the mod section ? Welcome btw. :)

Does OA AI walk through walls / fences still?
thr0tt replied to zeep's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Not only AI, if you go to a warehouse and stand next to it the 'v' to step over you actually step through... this only occurs with a warehouse with a raised running the length outside, well the only one I did it to plus u need to be on the raised area. Very minor issue and not a problem for me tbh. -
ARMA 2 OA: Post Process Settings Decoded
thr0tt replied to maruk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I like the implementation here, I run it on very high and it makes the game look and feel great. I think having the options separated would help folk who cannot run it but lets not break it for others who actually like it how it is please... -
Bring back the OLD Compass from ArmA 2
thr0tt replied to wolf[173rd]'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
You mean that glowing object is a compass ? I can never read it as it just appears as white light from a circular object - would be nice to have this object not reflect light as much would then be a useful tool. -
AddonSync2009 (downloader, launcher)
thr0tt replied to Yoma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Can't launch the beta says warning directory does not exist. Launches game ok but not beta. Edit: Ok sorted it. You need to create an 'addons' directory in both Expansion and Expansion\Beta\Expansion to stop the tool complaining. Addon directories just need to be valid and contain nothing from what I can tell (only loaded beta and cant test the KH pack as svr full atm). -
AddonSync2009 (downloader, launcher)
thr0tt replied to Yoma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Excellant work Yoma, thank you for this greatest and only tool that should be used to launch ArmA/2/OA. Was wondering how long it would take for you to get it working with OA. :D Cheers. -
Same as, mine says shipped 30th June, bunch of con artists to get our cash rather than shops. Play.com is reliable at delivering late, not be using them again even if they are cheaper.

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
thr0tt replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Listenning to the new videos and watching of course the speech I assume uses the same phrases from ArmA/II ? Why, when calling for a medic you would sound bored ? There appears to be no urgency apart from a few certain phrases which just stick out. Would have been good for some doubled up recordings for in action and stand down type scenarios, I mean, if I was injured in the field of combat I would be shouting a little more urgently for a medic or backup etc. I guess we are not in it for the speech though so it will pass. Shame...it...never...changes...and....the...whole...audio....speech...thing...never...improves... -
Do I need Arma 2 to play operation arrowhead?
thr0tt replied to kingneptune117's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Welcome to the ArmA2 forums, above are FAQ's which are sticky, they answer questions on ArmA2 as well as the up coming 'stand alone' expansion OA. -
Zipper5, the reason for the thread is for BIS to guage what people feel about paid DLC, this is why the MOD created it so not really that dumb is it ? Yes they have stated free DLC (patches / fixes) and paid for but the community are helping BIS decide how to release / charge etc. for future stuff. Speculative statements on our behalf will show how folk really feel about it, BIS can then view these responses and act on or ignore as they feel fit, there is no harm done here giving opinion or speculation as to how the DLC will be delivered, what it potentially could do to community etc. Cheers,
-
Which is my worry. They could potentially have it as a client side mod so MP would sstill work and only those who bought it can use or see the features, not sure how it would work for vehicles... but again sounds too complex and community splitter.

You have showed your forum worth, saves the rest of us doing our 'research', please carry on helping as it also saves the mods that job too. Let me know if there is anything else that may be incorrect or maybe gramatically wrong, thats always a refreshing reply to hear.
