  1. Rick im done pal..My target line looks like this

    "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma_server.exe" -config=server.cfg

    and then after making my cfg file in proffesional file editor my cfg file looks like this.

    // comments are written with "//" in front of them.

    // server.cfg

    passwordAdmin = ""; // password to protect admin access

    password = ""; // password required to connect to server

    hostname="";

    motd[]= {"Welcome to server.","Hosted by -.",}; // Welcome message, two lines "," means 'new line'

    motdInterval=1; //

    voteThreshold=0.33; // reportingIP="armedass.master.gamespy.com"; // voteMissionPlayers=10; // start voting for missions when 3

    checkfiles[]={"HWTL\dta\data3d.pbo","dta\data3d.pbo"}; //list of files to check for identity

    kickduplicate=1; // do not allow duplicate id

    equalModRequired=1; // require equal mod

    class Missions {};

    with my password and host name filled in of course..

    it was the reporting ip i had wrong. now it says the armedass.master.gamespy line spelt correctly it is showing up online...

    woo hoo. Thanks to TankbusterSPAFF for your input

    And thank you to all who came up with suggestions, they all helped me get a touch closer. GOOD LUCK RICK.

    biggrin_o.gif Thanks again

    My pleasure. That's the first time I've given help rather than received it. I feel I've finally arrived!

    By the way, I don't use the server reporting thingy, but that's firstly because I've never looked into what it does and secondly because my server is really only a testing ground for my clans stuff and for an occasionally bit of co-op.

  2. Thanks Aussie, tried to edit the config file while the server was running and i could edit it without any problems, so it is not using it....Thanks

    Also Mosh thanks for your input, tried that and guess what still no joy

    What application did you use to make the cfg file?

    If you use notepad, it won't save the .cfg out. it will be a .cfg.txt and the server will miss it.

    It'd be nice if the there was a errior generated if the cfg file mentioned in the shortcut wasn't found.

  3. Some more questions...

    Firstly, why do we have to edit the mission in MP/new/create game rather than just in the mission editor from the main menu

    Secondly, and I suspect it's related to the first question, why do I have to save the game before I can preview it?

    Thirdly, and not really related to BAS f, this setUnitPos "Down" in the init field doesn't seem to have any affect on my civilian AI's in preview. They are up and about, not lying down.

  4. Hmm.... I don't know then. I just used grasscutters today because I put down an asphalt runway on Rahmadi and the grasscutters stopped the grass from clipping through the runway. I had to put a fuckin kajillin of them down though, and it took forever and looks horrible, but it did the trick lol. Well... I dunno what else to suggest, good luck.

    I too have seen grasscutter work well. I have the Northern Sahrani Airport addon and there, the grass cutters work fine. Nevermind, as I say, I just used a building with a much thicker floor.

  5. Empty/Objects/Grasscutter will get rid of that grass for ya. Only problem is you gotta put about a bajillion of them around for large areas. Good luck!

    Grasscutters didn't do it. I put loads of them down and they did shorten the grass, but it still clipped through the building floor. The vid I linked to in the first post has grasscutters in place.

  6. Fer, it does help, thank you very much.

    I'm more than happy to keep asking here. I'm sure the popularity of BAS f is due to the fact you aimed it at a big section of the community and as such, many people may well be asking, or at least thinking of asking, the same questions.

    I think I will follow your naming conventions, it makes more sense to do so than to not. I will also name the OPFOR groups for the same reason.

    Again, many thanks.

  7. Question (first of many)

    1. Is there a forum at the BAS site you'd rather I use to ask these questions?

    2. Group names. Page 8 of the manual mentions that each of BLUFORs players have f_GrpBLU11A = group this; I don't fully understand why we have to have the group named so explicitly, but that's not my real query;

    If I have a second player group, can you suggest a name for them?

    3. OPFOR groups. Should they be named in a similar fashion?

    Thanks guys,

    Tanky -Paul-
