    I'm guessing it doesn't work if the repaired vehicle is destroyed *again* Maybe it's because I teamkilled the vehicle? Could that be relevant?

    Just an observation that we made using West A1 3.12 and ArmA Beta 1.15. While testing, I dropped RKSL's excellent Tiger Stripe Puma (all you have to do is name it ch4 and it *just works!* brilliant!) into the game to use as a wreck chopper and won an MG Hummvee from a side mission. I then destroyed the Humvve with a 136 to test the lift capabilities of my wreck Puma. As the helo approached the wreck, the pilot reported getting a hint message about distance to the wreck which was nice. He the grabbed the humvee and dropped it on the vehicle repair spot and it got fixed. I then destroyed it AGAIN with a M136 but this time, the Puma pilot didn't get the distance hints. It's a minor thing and not worthy of real attention, but I thought I'd drop a note in here in case it's symptomatic of anything else, or if you can say it's to do with the addon rather than the mission.

  8. Guys, A quickie for you all. I've making up the desktop shortcut for my dedicated server having successfully upgraded it to 1.15 beta. Now, the old 114 shortcut called some addons, namely vegetation fix, the smoke viewblock thingy and the tank flip one, all server side addons. So, the question is, addons that are to be used with the 115 server, do they have to be in the addon folder *in the beta addons directory* or can they remain in their own @folders in the game root directory and be called from the shortcut in the old way? Will that still work?

    For example; I notice the 115beta server shortcut doesn't call DBE, but the old 114 one does.

  12. I run the 1.15 installer on my server installation. It stopped with the error message "Game version required 1.14. You have 1.07" Which I don't. I have 1.14 with QG. I decided to humour it and tried to apply the 1.08 euro patch and it stopped with the error message " The version of ArmA is 1.14 which is more recent that this patch, 1.08" I'm a little confused. Any help gratefully accepted.

    Because it's still a very good game indeed, but like all good things, it's imperfect. It's BI spent some much time and effort on making things like warfare, while ignoring the many serious bug that have been there since OFP. Such potential gone to waste. I paid for this game, twice in fact. I downloaded the very first version from one of the online providers and later bought a 505 boxed version and I'd quite like the game I paid for. If my comments here contribute in some tiny way to get some of these problems fixed, then my time is well spent. Before you pidgeonhole me, I've been a fanboi and a bihater a number of times. Right now I feel a little abandoned by the developers although I hope for some good news in the coming days.

    Maybe there'll be an Christmas patch? Who knows? Either way, most of the bugs will still be there. BI will slap some other useless gimmick on it like warfare in order to get an extra sale or two. This game is about as fixed as it's ever going to get.

    Deep down we all know there will be no more patches for this game and even if there are, they won't be any fixes to many bugs. Let's be honest, many of the problems we are seeing now first saw the light of day in 2001. Given all that, there's no reason to suspect these legions of bugs will be squashed in ArmA2. Codemasters, here we come.

    Hehehe great fun! Reminds me of some unremembered SCi Fi flick. Could major landmarks be shown on the model too? It's great being able to see the vehicles, but without roads/ buildings as a reference point, it's lacking a little maybe?

    The AI spawns at Paraiso airfield and thinks; "WTF, M113's, UH60's and so on and so forth" but he soon settles down.

    I can help you with a workaround for recruiting AA soldier. Recruit a couple of blokes, then gather then all round an ammo cache. Through the command system, you can make them 'gear' at the ammo cache. Give then a pistol for self protection and a tube and two AA missiles, then put them somewhere in between the runway and the taxi way, and put them on alert and fireat will. They'll do a decent job of shooting down any enemy aircraft. Also, if you can have a MG dude with them, he'll cut down any enemy paratroopers that surviving the helo being shot down. Furthermore, if you can win a Vulcan from a sidemission, pop an AI in the guners seat and drive it out into the middle. If you park an ammo truck next to it, it'll never run out of ammo. A nearby repair truck should make it, to all intents and purposes, invincible. Just one thing to remember. If a side mission requires you to bring an enemy officer back to the base, you'll need to dismiss all your AI, or they'll cut him to shreds.
