WIP JTD Fire And Smoke
Tankbuster replied to dmarkwick's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I promise you, that's real in-game footage. ;) -
BI's beta testers wore rose tinted glasses all the time they worked.
-
Excellent. Are we going to have to wait for the next version for it? Paradropping is practically unusable on some missions, particularly the ones with the objective in hilly areas.
-
qft ..
-
Agreed. I added up my windows and program files directories and got 34GB so a 60GB drive should be just right.
-
Agree completely, but in the meantime? :)

Couple of things to report from this evenings games. 1.03 West AI. No addons. MHQs are reported as moving (so you cant 'port to them) long after the driver has switched the engine off and got out. Can we have an addaction for players in parachutes "Cut cords" would be so good because landing on anything less than a dead level surface results in getting stuck in silly anims and a forced respawn.

Good thinking there. My joystick needs two hands though - it skids around the desk. I'm not sure I have the hand-eye coordination to work like that. My brain would overload. Which is where TIR comes in. It very quickly becomes second nature and the muscle memory build quickly with TIR (or FT)

*CAA1* Domination A2 - Return To Sahrani
Tankbuster replied to bushlurker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
I did mention this to him on the Dev Hev page, but didn't get a reply. Like you say, he's one busy chap. -
I've got both TIR4 Pro and Freetrack. In Arma1 they both work just fine. TIR performs better but freetrack is way cheaper. For Arma II, you have to use TIR. I got mine used on eBay, but it's no problem at all. Don't regret buying it at all. I play GRID too, and it works in that game as well. There is a poll started by Placebo to see how many people want FT support in Arma2. It hovers around the 85% in favour, which is quite some margin, but I'm not convinced BI will build in support for it. For flying, it's essential, it really increases your awareness of what's around you and particularly, how close to the ground you are. If you're gunning in an aircraft, being able to zoom just by leaning towards the screen is a massive boon, likewise if you're an AT dude.

How long have you been waiting to use that smiley? :D

I've played this a bit this evening, just me on my dedi server. :) I notice that when you're in the car, you get a move to command that points to the suspect. After I'd done two arrests the third one had it's "move to" right next to the police station and I couldn't find the suspect there. Any help?
-
*reads between the lines* Does this give us any hints as to where you might be making maps for?
-
Morning chaps. My main bugbear with Chernarus is that it's so heavily wooded. I've done a little bit of addon making, but never worked on map editing. WOuld this be a straightforward undertaking? EDIT: Perhaps a little clarification. I'd like the level of forestation to be a little more than currently exists on Sahrani.

SP/COOP Mission - Operation Viper
Tankbuster replied to B-oodThorn's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Played Viper this evening with 2 mates. Overall very nice. A couple of points. The task list seems to copy itself to itself every time, so at the end of the mission, the list of tasks if all ticked, but below is the same list.. the further you look down it, the less the tasks are crossed off. I was medic and could only drag AI. Couldn't drag human players. -
Damn directx12. I want directx 69. It's my favourite.

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Tankbuster replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What we need is a thread that details system specs and settings for Arma2. If it could be stickied in the General section, that'd be useful. -
This game really isn't graphics intensive, despite what you might think. You aren't going to notice much difference between any of the current iterations of directx. It's not about the pretties, it's about immersion and tactics.

Object drawing distance tweak
Tankbuster replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Ah yes. I meant to mention that too. -
Object drawing distance tweak
Tankbuster replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
This is such a free lunch. I mean, pretty much everyone here is saying it improves the game without any real drawbacks, you have to wonder why BIS didn't have this in the day one release. I think it needs to go even further, I'd like the objects to be drawn OUTSIDE the draw distance fog ring so that they never actually pop in, the simply fade in through the fog. -
Just got my TIR4 installed. It worked straight away. No problems. The default profile is fine.

Small arms firing from vehicles. Would you like to see it implemented?
Tankbuster replied to BoxiouS's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I've played some of my best games while drunk! -
Object drawing distance tweak

Tried it ingame, really like it. I haven't tried it with a fast jet but it makes even helo flying better. -
Agree absolutely.
