    Island Panthera for ArmA 2

Icebreakr, Would you be prepared to release the satmap to help mission makers who are using this island?

    Stupid question

Perhaps the question you should be asking yourself is Should I use a descriptive thread title? How about "help with using satchel charges after saving Valetine"

    terrain overhead view?

Excellent. I'll ask him. Many, many thanks.

    terrain overhead view?

Right, now I see. And is a satmap used in the creation of the island? Will Icebreakr, the maker of Panthera have one of these?

CRCTI Warfare ( cti ) MP

Muecke, Unusual request time. :) I'm not a warfare player, but I have an interest in this mission. I have messed with the satcam script and wondered if it's possible to use the overhead view functionality on other islands? Basically, I want to be able to get a good overhead view of Panthera. Close enough to see buildings, but distant enough to use it as a mission planning tool. Not in a mission, as such. What do you think? ---------- Post added at 05:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:29 PM ---------- Aha. I see it's an addon from Armed Assault.

    terrain overhead view?

That sounds like the fella, but it's for Chernarus. I want to do this on Panthera. I'll investigate and report back. ---------- Post added at 04:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:53 PM ---------- OK. It's part of the warfare script that only works after getting some monies. I've never played warfare so it's a bit difficult for me to earn enough money to buy the satcom. I think I'll contact the author to see if he is prepared to adapt the script for other uses. Meantime, all other suggestions gratefully received.

I don't know what the satmap is. What will it show?

You'd expect him to say that, though wouldn't you?

    Who here uses XFIRE?

Ah, I see. I've changed the keys so that it uses a different key to make it easier on my logitech. When xfire is running and you start the game, do you get a little xfire window in the bottom right of the screen saying "Xfire enabled"?

    Who here uses XFIRE?

Yes, but does the ingame stuff work, like video and screen capture?

Resize those images, fella. You'll break the internet posting more than 100k pics!
  14. The thing about the USB solution, or indeed, any non rotational disk, is that the seek times are negligible. Yes, average transfer times are slow with USB. If you want lots of small files and not to write much, USB does begin to make sense.

    Island Panthera for ArmA 2

Put shadow detail to high or above. That might clear that. ---------- Post added at 11:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:03 AM ---------- Me too! ---------- Post added at 11:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 AM ---------- Ice, have you thought about setting up shop over at http://dev-heaven.net/home? I reckon that this project is going to get so big and popular, it might be easier to manage it there instead of in this one thread.

Thanks, I'll mention that to him. Any chance you have a detailed map available? ---------- Post added at 10:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:05 PM ---------- And here so you can appreciate the loveliness, apart from that error is a nice screenshot and fly vid.

    Island Panthera for ArmA 2

Mr Ice, sir. We like this a lot. Do you have any hires maps of the entire island? I'm planning a couple of big missions here and having a paper map down to 'zoomed in map level' would be really useful for me and others. :) ---------- Post added at 10:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 PM ---------- Hmm. Error report. I knocked up a small tourism mission and put it on my dedi server so me and a mate could have a fly around. I joined first and admin up and started the mission, he joined and got an error. He clicked through and we began exploring. We touched down at Ramons Villa. I say to him... did you have to land quite so close to that building... He replies.. what building? He says they show up on his map, but not on main view. Most odd. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t16/pauleden/gaming/pantheramissingbuilding.gif

My pleasure. :) ---------- Post added at 12:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 AM ---------- Xeno, Are you doing anything sneaky with the flag texture at the airbase? I'm trying to use SetFlagTexture on it and whatever I do, it shows the US flag. I even changed it to a FlagCarrierRU, but it still shows the stars and stripes.

You need to de PBO (extract) the files first. I use kegetys cPBO utility. http://www.kegetys.net/arma/ This creates a folder with all the mission files in it. Move it to (on my machine). C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\My Documents\ArmA 2 Other Profiles\Tanky\MPMissions You can then edit it in the game editor and edit the sqf files directly. For this, I use armaedit http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1455

2 ways. You could add the tanks to the array that lists the vehicles the lift choppers are allowed to lift. That's easy. Or you could generate a new 'heavy lift' chopper, maybe chopper #3 , that was able to lift these. This could be complex, but doable, I think. By the way, I use gachopins '53 as a wreck chopper because it looks less weird having it lift a smokin 70 tonne battle tank than having a UH60 do it!
  23. Some real progress here, guys. I'm sure there's a lot of people reading this with anticipation. Keep up the good work!
  24. Got as far as choosing a nice USB stick, a Corsair Voyager GT 16GB before the missus said no on funding grounds :( Now rummaging around the house to put some junk on eBay to pay for it.
