My suggestions : 1. AI driving tweaked up significantly. Vehicle colums wouldn't drive in a normal orderly fashion in Arma, which was really annoying. No convoy ambush missions, no insertions by vehicle convoy, no extractions by convoy. It really limited possibilities in Arma. 2. Units being able to keep formation. In Arma everybody ran up when there was contact. Units have to be tweaked to be a little less agressive and gung ho. First find cover and sustain a solid base of fire, then go get some. 3. Unit movement in streets and buildings has to make a next stop. If you assaulted a compound or hotel to rescue a hostage, 90% of the times the hostage didn't follow you out of the building. And offcourse, urban combat would be much better if units actually knew how to move in a town. 4. Viewranges for AI need to be more realistic. Many AI mods fixed this, but I think this should be standard issue.

Damn this look fine. Perfect addon for some great SF adventures into Sahrani. Thanks to Jonny for this great piece of work. Truly great!

The Unsung Vietnam war MOD
Stelios replied to Warrior Xâ„¢'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Well, I'm still here patiently waiting for the mod. In the meanwhile doing a bit of modern warfare on Sahrani. I'm so happy we don't have a lot cars in the Vietnam war, because those danged vehicles that can't ride in groups are really starting to piss me off. Got any screens on VC yet? Or are they gonna be a suprise untill the release? -

Got a small suggestion/question. Are the weapons gonna have some sort of High Dispersion option? In the jungle the fights are gonna be from a close range, and I don't know if sniper AK's(like normal AI has) is gonna be the best solution for optimal gameplay. -

A lot of people have already asked about further units, but got some questions about the SF. In the screenies I've spotted the M16A1(my fav), the M14 and a (shortened) M60. Is this the weapon line up we are going to see with the first release? Because some of the most used weapons in the SF was offcourse the CAR-15(some with an XM148 grenade launcher), and more or less the M3, M1A1 Thompson and the Stoner MG(SEALs). The G3 was used too, but we can use the one from the Turkish mod. How's the progress btw on VC/NVA units? Will they make it for the first release? -

Oh my god! This looks really really good! Vietnam is definitely my favourite theme, and you guys are producing some real kick ass SF teams here. The comment under the last screenie, about the island in the background not being yours, leads to the question : who's is it? and where can I find it? -

Looks brilliant. I have been waiting for a proper Vietnam SF addon & map. Do you have some areas that are less densely forested than the ones in your screenie? In OFP the Dak Saeng map had some excellent spaces with trees 1 to 2 meters apart, making the AI really come out well. Good firefights there. Well, like I said, I just can't wait! Keep up the good work lads. -
Working on a nighttime mission with FFAA MOE units on South Sahrani. What really makes me wonder is, why are the streetlights are out, and how to make them work. Searched the forums and wiki page for answers, because I can't I'm the first one to wonder, but found nothing. Can anyone help me.

Really love the mod guys! Excellent work. Especially because it's so complete. It has everything I could wish for and it looks absolutely great. Got one question though, throughout the readme I can't find the classnames of the weapons. Did I just miss a file or are the classnames not included in the mod? Well, I'm off to some Spanish adventures.
-
Looks nice. Btw, are those Dutch units with the tv reporter in the screenie?
-
With all those Marine addons around, this is a welcome addition. Looks good and I can't wait! Now all we need is a nice UH1-N and CH-53 USMC skin.

Still got a major issue with AI. Maybe it's because I got Sixth Sense mod running, but when just plan a waypoint with a 12 man squad in the settings safe-limited. Half of my squad just stops all of a sudden in groups of 3. They refuse to walk on. Terrain is easy, no trees or anything. Don't understand it, because like driving, AI could even do this simple task right in OFP.
-
Is there a script around that forces the choppers to do a proper and fast landing? We had one for OFP, that worked real well. Littlebirds would land safely in a street(if you made sure nothing was in the way) within seconds. Is there one around for Arma?
-
Biki? Not really following you. Haven't found the scripts in the comref neither, not really sure where to look.

What I would really like to see in Arma : -More SF characters like Shaw, to form an SF A-team in a terrain like Afghanistan -Taliban-like Insurgents -Afghan National Army units(could be just the SLA forces with a script only to use Arab faces) -Afghanistan type map, Southern Sahrani looks nice too, and has some parts that resemble the green zones in A-stan.

Jahve's character addons - Shaw v1.1
Stelios replied to Jahve's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
First off, best addon I've seen for Arma. Love the realistic and unconventional look it has. Top for SF/Recon mission in Sahrani. But the main, and to my idea still unanswered, question is : will there be more? What is being worked on? It would be awesome to have 4, 6 or even 8 of these different dudes walking around, forming a team. Medic(CLS), Machinegunner, Sniper, Demolitions expert, Forward Air Controller, you name it. Makes up for terrific mission potential, and even a nice and lengthy campaign in the southern part of Sahrani(love the greens out there, hard combat terrain). -
Love it. Â Not sure about the casual way the guy is operationg the light though. Â Love the idea how ever, deploying lights on a besiged town/village. <----{only with a spot ligh.} Too bad most of the guys are wearing NOD's. So the light doesn't really helps them(it blinds them more likely). But searchlights are nice for attacking an enemy prison camp somewhere in the 1980's.

Any plans for a expansion of this pack with woodland area units? And how is the progress of the dude who was making MARPAT force recon out of these fellas.
-
You can also un-pbo the config file, and change the load-outs in the config. That's what I did, packed 'em all with regular JAM HD weapons. I got this nice M4 sound too, sounds more like a toy gun, but that's what the real M4s sound like.
-
This is exactly the kind of unit I have been waiting for. Finally some SF units with civie gear. Excellent for the discrete spec ops missions in Afghanistan or Iran. Absolutely brilliant work, my compliments
-
Screenies keep getting better, but I'm wondering if we are gonna get a glimpse of the SF units that will probably be featured in ArmA. As it's usually Army Rangers or SF that use the MH-6's, regular troops on it just don't look right.
-
Oh, some marpat would look damn sweet on 'em too! These units simply rock my marbles. Excellent work. Great models, excellent variety in units. But for a next release, is there a possibility of including HD units. With the scopes on the weapons it is usually a point and click affair during firefights, meaning they don't last long.
-
Brilliant update guys! Especially the WMKII with the Milan launcher. It just gives those puppies something to defend themselves against armour. The units on the screenies look great too. The woodland units with boonies and woolen hats really smell like some nice recon action. Hope to see them soon, but like always with the UKF, they will be released when you least expect it and then make your day. Keep on truckin lads!
