    New beta 71900 is up!(OA)

ArmA is really a special game, no matter how good your PC is, it's no guarantee the game will run well. It's all luck :/

    New beta 71900 is up!(OA)

Small gain in terms of performance, 1920x1200, everything on Very High, AF on Normal and AA on Disabled, View Distance is 5400 ( Making Terrain Detail High ). Vanilla without renamed .exe in the OA Benchmark; 31 With renamed .exe 41 Beta vanilla .exe 32 Beta renamed .exe 45 EDIT: Apparently, running the Beta has ruined the LOD system somehow. Fired up the game as a US Rifleman, the SCAR was basically a 2D drawing and it didn't improve .... Great -.- EDIT2: Zargabad is COMPLETELY unplayable now.

    Windows 7 -64 Bit

    Re-install windows.
  4. -cpuCount=4 on my i7 940 killed my performace :/
  5. I think it depends on the hyper-threading.
  6. Whoa, really appreciate the heads-up man :O Will definitely give the thread a read.
  7. So I was bored, decided to order a few hardware parts to see how the game performs 4870X2 Upgraded to 5970 + Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Samsung Spinpoint F1 "Upgraded" ( Added to the system ofc. ) to WD 64GB SSD 250MB/s Read / 170MB/s Write Let's see that amazing 3 FPS boost for the price of a jetfighter, haha. Then again, I have 2 x 24" Screens, should enjoy a bit of Eyefinity as well.
  8. Yes, I know what I'm doing and the 10.6 ARE problematic drivers, which many people can report. You just have to remember there's more than one generation of ATI cards out there and chances are it'll wreck havoc with some older generations, which it did with me ( 4870X2 ).
  9. Stay FAR away from the 10.6 drivers, even the 10.5s, they are rubbish. I rolled back to 10.4 and got rid of a ton of problems and BSODs.
  10. Would be nice with some official feedback, though I'd like to add the problem also seems to be very closely tied in with the Core i7 users, as 90% of the users having major stuttering and micro-freeze problems have a CPU in this class. Do we really have to go back to square one, performance wise every time?
  11. Hmmm, it's actually 'funny' how many people experiencing this exact issue, also has Core i7s. Question for the i7 folk, do you all have HT disabled? I'm thinking with the recent changes to the game engine, it might try to take advantage of the hyper-threading but can't find it ... Perhaps I'm just talking out of my ass here. I can however happily report, going back to Catalyst 10.4 has given me a nice boost. Apparently, the 10.6s are broken beyond words with tons of BSODs, 10.5a ( Hotfixed ) were a bit better, same stuttering but still a heap of BSODs when exiting and alt + tabbing but the 10.4s are fast, bug free and gave me an FPS boost, even Zargabad is playable now!
  12. Well, As I said in the impression / discussion threads for Operation Arrowhead, I'm one of the lucky few to suffer some problems with the game, despite having ArmA II run butter-smooth without any issues. My settings for the game I've tried to closely match ArmA IIs settings, View distance of about 3000, everything on Very High except for PP, which is on low due to its changes, AA on Disabled and AF on Normal. Running the benchmark gives me a 35FPS result, which isn't bad but far from acceptable and nothing like the performance in A2. It isn't just low performance, game seems to suffer from constant micro-stutters that just trickles down and have an adverse effect on everything. In Zargabad it's especially bad, performance is also abysmal - Feels like the computer is struggling bad and sometimes the walk / run animation on the soldier won't even play, he'll just float because the game is too busy trying to render / deal with other issues, it's that bad! I tried a different driver set ( ATi ) with no effect, I tried defragmenting my drive with 0 effect whatsoever, I tried renaming my .exe to both arma2 and crysis with no effect and now I'm lost for things to try, except waiting for a patch or something. My specs are following; Windows 7 64Bit Core i7 940 ATi 4870X2 6GB DDR3 I solved all my stuttering problems in ArmA II by disabling HT and it's still disabled, with no effect. I'm running the game without extensions, so no -maxmem etc.
  13. No need to be so condescending with the snide remarks, is it really too much to ask to have game that is playable? Especially considering its an expansion, then having to go from a smooth experience to stutters and whatnot is really depressing.
  14. Why does the SCAR Silenced and unsilenced sound EXACTLY the same? EDIT: And some of the silenced versions are silenced
  15. i7 940 6GB DDR3 4870X2 Windows 7 64bit. ArmA II ran butter-smooth, so perfect and then I fire up this and it's nothing but microstutters, low frame-rate and texture popping.
  16. I can run ArmA II perfectly at Very High settings at 1920x1200, it will easily go well over 60FPS and even average that but I fire up OA and it runs like complete ass, micro-stuttering all over the place, fairly low FPS that goes up and down like a rollercoaster and textures popping from hell :|
  17. You obviously haven't heard of an internet meme before :)

Dragon Rising only 5 dollars at steam

If you want a poor rip-off made for the Battlefield tards, then by all means go ahead.
  19. Definitely fake, you can spot that 2D backdrop instantly :P
  20. Now that's how you release digital copies, at midnight - I just have to give some major kudos right there!
  21. Okay, though I'm in the same timezone as the Czech Republic ( Denmark, CET / GMT+1 ) so it's all the same, just had to make sure they unlocked at midnight and not the usual Valve'ish BS where they unlock 12-18 hours later.
  22. So the game unlocks at midnight Czech time, am I correct?

    Where/how/when to buy ARMA2:OA?

I'm not talking about downloading, just purely buying the product, which took ages. Download took less than 40 minutes.
