    Realism mod.

Nice to have more realism projects. Would you consider implementing other mods (if permission is given) such as THIS one and definitely NWD's realistic ballistics mod. I remember for instance he made the RPG fire a lot faster and the 5m/s (?) BIS did was far, far too slow. If you made it only slightly faster who is right?
  2. Nice work indeed! Would it be possible to angle the rain drops the way they are dropping? In the vid they were angled one way and dropped the other way.

    ArmA 2

I saw how the sight "escaped" from the rest of the gun, yes and at first I thought it's not right. But then I realised that such sights are meant to be used with two eyes open. So although you only see one "camera" view you still see the aimpoint outside the sight window as if your other eye is looking through correctly. Still, I might be talking sh*te.

Hope the AI is indeed smart. It's great they lean and do hand signals, now. One other thing I'd like to see is sidestepping round corners. Always going forwards looks unnatural. EDIT: Looked again and there is sidestepping- great! Now just for some less lethal shots at long distances, suppressive fire etc.

    Resting your weapon

    Would be a nice addition.

    Rumours on Troops movement.

    I'm certainly curious about this.

    O2 for dummies

Thanks for the O2 advice above posters, and I do hope that tutorials are made by some people

Still you know it means something the name's fine and apt. A name doesn't make a game crap.

ArmA isn't really an abbreviation. Armed Assault was fully named "ArmA: Armed Assault". Arma is like "weapon" in latin:

We were "promised" so much with Game 2, which sounded impressive to anyone at the time that we're not going (as a whole community) to ever be totally pleased with ArmA2 100%. I'm just happy BIS are adding more to ArmA in ArmA2. If BIS are leaving the games market I've just thought- will they even consider releasing the source code to the community, so that they can make their own additions. That would be amazing.

Thanks for uploading the vids but I'm getting ~2-3 kb a second :/

Thanks so much for the info, Forrestal! Greatly appreciated. It's sad to hear BIS may make ArmA2 their last game, though I'll keep hope for the future that once new technology is out and the engine has been revamped by DirectX 14 or something, that they'll decide to make a retail version of whatever military simulator they're making at the time, for us lowly fans

    ARMA 2 Aircraft wishes

Nice ideas but shouldn't this be in "Suggestions"?

All they mention is minimal details about the Eastern setting. There's so much room for manoeuvre so you can't say the story's bad already- there are no details. Yes the story may turn out to be bad but you cannot tell at this stage. The inclusion of the US forces is obligatory, unfortunately.

    Fixing ArmA

Indeed. I think BIS should continue fixing small things in ArmA1 as they have been doing but put their main focus on ArmA2. I say this because I think to drastically change ArmA1 as we all want, a totally new campaign would be needed as the AI, among other things, wouldn't be compatible. Make ArmA2 amazing and I'll forgive ArmA1.

BIS are in the perfect place for an Eastern storyline/setting. They won't have to travel miles for research and although the Americans are in it again, it won't harm the gameplay

You may agree BF2 had a whole new engine to BF1942, right? Wrong! BF2 engine was an advancement of the BF1942 engine. Every engine is based on other engines. Source was based on Quake3 engine, Q3 engine was based on Q2...etc. So At this stage ArmA2 is bound to look like ArmA It shouldn't later on, though.

Ah yes I assume it will be delayed like most games. If it is out 2008, little will be done graphically (hopefully) so you shouldn't have to have a total upgrade...perhaps just a bit of RAM or something. Still, I don't know, again it's an assumption. Remember, it might not even be good enough to buy

It's not that he has to, that's not his problem. It's just a figure of speech. It is annoying that computers outdate so quickly but BIS aren't the only culprits. Every 2 years there's another generation of computing technology so if ArmA2 comes out in 2009/2010 then you can't blame them any more than every other developer around. If you don't want to spend thousands on a new PC to play a game, don't but if you do, don't expect it'll last you years

D007, you do seem to like the word "crap" I read reviews before I bought ArmA and I decided it was worth the plunge... what's 20 or so quid for a game? I advise all gamers to read reviews before they buy...perhaps then we wouldn't get colossal amounts of unsatisfied customers on these forums. What is constructive is to point out bugs, what isn't is to simple complain and complain and complain, say you hate BIS yet never actually leave... Why? I suggest it's because you want to have faith in BIS. You want a good game from them, like OFP and Resistance. You want them to do it right next time around. If you really had no faith you wouldn't be here, unless you admit to being a miserable detractor who just likes spreading hate around. I think all the complaints are truthful and how the players feel. Some are somewhat short-sighted in their arguments but the concerns are still there. We all want BIS to make an amazing game, with all the "Game 2" features but we can't just demand to get it- I demand all countries disarm their nukes BIS released ArmA with some bugs, yes, but it works well for me now, despite game problems that aren't true bugs. You got what you bought and if it wasn't what you expected then I'm sorry but it's hardly going to bankrupt you. Disappointment shows its face a lot more often that praise around here, I guess it's human nature, but we can all hope for a better game. Can we find unity in that?

I think a moderator should make a post putting everyone in their place and then lock the thread. Everything's been said and it seems the BIS community has little faith, on the whole.
