climatic changes, what do you think about that?
Sc@tterbrain replied to Sennacherib's topic in OFFTOPIC
Do you always need to alter the meaning of my posts, have trouble with english, or just have no grasp of satire? Clearly it's not a "green" solution. Â It is ironic that our spurious attempts at "saving the environment" are leading third world countries to ruin their own. Gisen before responding to my posts, read carefully. Â Better yet just don't. -

Sc@tterbrain replied to Sennacherib's topic in OFFTOPIC
Apparently going green even has its costs for the environment. <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2007/08/14/eaorang114.xml" target="_blank">destroyed for bio-diesel </a> Whats the answer...less humans? -
Looks like someone has. I don't think it has them using cars, but might be what your looking for. ARMA Script: CSL populate island v1

Speaking of accuracy at distance, is it just me or has the G36 become FAR less accurate since OFP? I just don't ever use it now. I have some issues with the AGOG, but find it usable. Â The G36 seems to go wide right...then wide left...while the stupid at stands there oblivious. That or he's just laughing at me...

Ambience, immersion, and realism are all buzzwords I like to hear. Â The countless little touches, that many are missed, are what combine to really make the experience. Looking forward to your project. Â First because I am bored of MP. Â Secondly because I am getting burned out on my own project and the resulting hair loss. Can't wait for some inspiration! Â

What about a 500 million dollar embassy and the super-airbase in the works (Bigger than Ramstein). Look into it and adjust your viewpoint. Â It should't chage your views on the war or the players...but will throw a curveball at your view of the near future of "Coallition" forces in Iraq. PS ~Great find on that Cheney vid. VERY interesting that he used the term "quagmire." Of course the Saudis also told us an occupation of Iraq in '94 was not a good idea due to the fact it would enrage Muslims (not mentioned in list of reasons in the vid).

I wish I was a more patient person...not to mention had more freetime. That is truely impressive.

Not sure where that comes rom or where it pertains to the conversation. Â I hope for your sake it was some lame joke because it's insulting. Hitler is responsible for the genocide of some six million Jews, and add to that what ever number you please of Russians and other Allied forces and civillians. Stalin's purges and ongoing campaigns of political repression killed an estimated 4-9 million people. (add another 6 to 8 million victims if you count the 1932-33 famine.) GW will have to put in some overtime if he wants to compete with those all-stars before his term is up. People of your line of thinking count GW as some sort of idiot, and I tend to agree. Â But dose a moron have the capacity to kill with the same sort of evil genius? Â Pick one, moron...or Dr. Evil. Before regurgitating the remarks of an ignoramus, try enhancing your own knowledge first. .........interesting point on the lack of a first Amendment right of free speech in the UK. Â I have looked and found nothing to contradict you. Â Right or wrong, this censorship of military personal makes makes sense in terms of an information war. Â Yet the part on MP gaming still seems to stick out. Â I still wonder what the big issue is with MP games durring offtime....

Many of your complaints are valid. However many seem to pertain specificly to user created maps such as Evolution. Seperate your dissapointment of BIS issues and Evo issues into the 2 threads that deal with each topic. Mixing them takes away from the good points you make.

Lets break this paragraph from the article into 2 parts. The second reads: "(No)...sending text messages, photographs and audio or video material without permission if they relate to defence matters." Purpose makes sense, aggree with it or not. No public discussion of military matters. But the first part just doesn't fit in there: "Personnel will also be barred from playing multi-player computer games and sending text messages, photographs and audio or video material without permission if they relate to defence matters." Maybe because they have a hard time monitoring chat that occurs in a game? More likely they just don't want a bunch of WoW zombies eating up all the bandwith. No rule against SP gaming in there so I guess they are free to rot their brains offline.

Premise: Base fulla baddies, kill the officer. One trigger is set to unleash hell if Blufor is detected upon their approach. The other is set to do the same once the officer is killed. My problem is having the either or situation. I can link the same units to both triggers, but that still requires that they both be true. How do I get it so when one is activated, the other is no longer valid...or null or something? Couldn't find this addressed anywhere, thanks for any input.

Or whatever you named your officer. Couldn't get any simpler. And that will fix the problem with the 2 triggers? My issue is not with the trigger recognizing the dead officer, that works fine. The problem is having the option of 2 triggers and setting one off. Â (This or that u see.) Indeed, why use 2 triggers when you only need one? You can use a single trigger to detect if one of two conditions have been met, triggers aren't limited to just a single condition you know. Forgive me, I may have been a bit too tired and burnt out when I read your first post. Â I just seemed to miss that was what you were getting at. Â Apparently Longbow194 posted almost the same question at almost the same time as I did. Â Thanks all for the help. Special thanks to Kyle and fasad for having patience with amatures like me, its apprecaited. Heres a link to the other thread for those searching this later. Activating a Trigger with a trigger On it fasad posted this: If you just want either of the two conditions to set off some reinforcements arriving, you'll only need one trigger. Set it to <playerSide> detected by <enemySide>. and in the condition box: "this OR !(alive officerName)"

Activating a Trigger with a trigger
Sc@tterbrain replied to Longbow194's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
That is wonderful fasad! Â I had a feeling I was overcomplicating things. Â I had wanted 2 different messages: "enemy alerted to your presence." or "Officer killed." but I am perfectly happy with just having a working trigger. That was a big help, hope I can repay the favor some time. Big Thanks! Â -
AI targetable/destroyable objects?
Sc@tterbrain replied to Otter's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
It may be possible to put targetable objects inside houses to get ai to fire at them. Would only look right if you place it in an "unopen" house or area of one. Will try and test to see if they can see it thru the house...but since the ai seems to have x-ray vision thru most objects I don't see why not. -
Nothing to look at really. They basicly look like overlayed loading screens with voice acting writen by Macho Man Randi Savage. Not sure why they didn't just voice over the reporter scenes. I have had both versions (English and Czech), and I'm not sure one can be a clear winner as "better." Will post a pic if I can ever force myself to click on SP again...

Hmm. Poking around Geraldo I found something quite odd. Why would a house in a town surrounded by dessert have...a sand box. Is this neccessary? Walk another 15m and there is all the sand you could want. Lazy children I guess...mm wait...there are no children...or women...just flip-flop clad males. (ok theres one woman, if your jinky enough to know how to put her in.)

Activating a Trigger with a trigger
Sc@tterbrain replied to Longbow194's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
This is very similar to my current dilema. Fasad you seem to have a good solution, would it work in my case...am I makeing things overly complicated? Premise: Base fulla baddies, kill the officer. One trigger is set to unleash hell if Blufor is detected upon their approach. The other is set to do the same once the officer is killed. My problem is having the either or situation. I can link the same units to both triggers, but that still requires that they both be true. How do I get it so when one is activated, the other is no longer valid...or null or something? In one trigger I have: Condition: !(Alive hos1) and this and (not var1) onactivation: var2=true The second trigger: Condition: this and (not var2) onactivation: var1=true -
Or whatever you named your officer. Couldn't get any simpler. And that will fix the problem with the 2 triggers? My issue is not with the trigger recognizing the dead officer, that works fine. The problem is having the option of 2 triggers and setting one off. Â (This or that u see.)

This is not a silly question at all. Â Consider that the news stations DO get that kind of information from the DoD AFIS on a daily basis and more when specific attacks and operations take place. (On a side note, if your a real junky you can get RSS feeds from AFIS on a whole lot of mostly boring reading.) And yet very specific information is filtered down through the US news networks and news broadcasts to represent what is seen by Americans everyday. Â After the initial spirt of patriotism, coverage of the war has clearly not been supportive as of late. Â It remains propaganda as always, and the message is quite clear. Â Im not sure what is so clear, and what your contention is Chops: US news SUPPORTIVE, Al-Jezeera UNSUPPORTIVE or US news UNSUPPORTIVE, Al-Jezeera SUPPORTIVE Chops, is it your contention that US news coverage of the war in Iraq is supportive of the war, and the Bush administration? Â If so, what channel are you watching? Â If thats what you mean then surely Al-Jezeera doesn't look at daily AFIS briefs to show its viewers their might be some progress by Coallition Forces. ("progress" loosely defined of course. ) Hmmm. Â Interesting how Muslims keep moving to these evil western countries to relish in their oppression that MUST be so much worse then what they left behind. Â Maybe they should just forsake all of their "tangible commodities" and not move to western countries in the first place...wouldn't that truly show "obedience to the one true God and following the footsteps of the final prophet messenger." Lighting your self on fire and crashing into a building with saftey constructed propane tanks...and failing by living through the ordeal... Â Truly the sign of a "enlightened" and sane individual.

Thanks for the recomendations. Unfortunately I'm still having some problems getting it working. So far I have only tried theunknown's way, but I may have to try smoke's if I can't get it working. In one trigger I have: Condition: !(Alive hos1) and this and (not var1) onactivation: var2=true The second trigger: Condition: this and (not var2) onactivation: var1=true Dosen't seem to be working, but it may be because of they way I have the triggers linked to the units. Right now I have both triggers linked to the units first move order. This of course works with each trigger attached individually, but not with both. Any input appreciated.

Hmm. Â 1. If your speaking of something like the FDF sound pack, then add this to your Arma launcher " -mod=@FDFsounds". (Assuming your mod folder is named @FDFsounds and is placed in the Arma directory.) 2. If you mean custom radio sounds... they may be in the right format, but there is a limit to the file size. Â So, if you don't see them on the radio menue, thats' probably it. Keep in mind that too many custom radio sounds make it take longer for others to join. Â Also some servers do not allow mod folders or custom radio sounds. ~Hope that helps.

Will using this addon require that all players have it when playing the maps as well. sorry, didnt see it mentioned. *******question answered, thanks Dead. -
I find it odd one can say they don't watch news channels, yet have such an informed opinion of them. Since you don't watch them, let me inform you of your error. In America it is quite clear that "News Channels" and News on public broadcast stations are very much not of the mind of the Right. Fox news gained it's initial success due to this, because people desired news from a right or centrist point of view (depending on your opinion). It remains the only channel that is centrist or right. This explains the high ratings. Some other stations have now hired "conservative" hosts just so they can compete. You can get liberal news anywhere, but some Americans are smart enough to try and suppliment their information with other sources. After it's almost blatant backing of Bush durring his first election, FOX news channel has backed off slightly from its Right leanings. Yet it still slaughters all other news broadcasts and channels in ratings. Today the only place your going to find "Right Wing" broadcasts in the US is on the radio. But that may not be the case for long as elements are trying to censor those shows. As far as Fox and the upcoming election, things may get weird. Rupert Murdoch is now dumping money into the Clinton Campaign. If Fox pulls the crap it did with the first Bush campaign, by strictly regulating information and news on certain candidates, I hope Fox will just become another CNN..toilet ratings. What dose this have to do with Iraq? In the case of Iraq, most news broadcasts and stations have been playing the same game. Telling the news in accordance to the views of the producers and execs. If anyone really claims to have a handle on exactly whats going on in Iraq, and some idea as to how it can be fixed, make sure you quote the source you heard it from too. (No, just leave is not a solution. You must detail the execution, time frame, and possible ramifications to be taken seriously.)

Norrin, Thank you for adding that extended revive ability! Thanks again for your SQF revive scripts, and the great ease of use they have with the included directions. A real bonus for a novice like me.
