    Final Countdown

If your an American you must have gone to public school. If your not, then it just amazing the way history is being re-written. If Cuba is so free, then why do thousands risk their lives on homemade rafts to reach Florida? However your view on how we care about certain dictatorships, yet give others a pass is spot on. On topic: While the ideas in the campaign were inventive, they were under-developed and the bugs just ruined the intrigue.

    Final Countdown

I was perturbed by all the bugs and issues with this game. The campaign however has set me over the edge. I struggled through a garbage campaign to get to a last mission that was utterly trash? What should I have expected... I know its useless to get my shorts all in a bunch, but I have nearly lost faith in BIS and the future on this franchise.

    OFP Vs Arma SP Campaign

The campaign was pathetic. -To get to the end I had to use the old ofp cheats to end the mission when I had killed everyone/completed all the objectives and the triggers didnt' work. -Muchos bugos. -Storyline. Was it written on a cocktail napkin? And near the end what was that twist that goes nowhere? Half-ass, the hole thing.

    Crash to desktop

Same deal Koala. I have Sprocket version patched to 1.02 as well, and crash in most games in MP. However I have NO crashes in editor/SP. Sproket version issue? That figures with my luck.

    Performance Tweaking Experiences

After playing with my settings I have settled on what I have found optimal. Unless I'm in a forest, its at least playable. Now if I can only figure out the random crashes that ONLY occur in MP

    official complaint to BIS

Wow I sure see alot of people making excuses for BIS. Â The fact remains that the game was released as a product that many feel was sub-standard for sale. We can keep guessing why and point blame to everyone other than those who sold it to us, but that gets us nowhere. I personally would like to have faith that Armed Assault has a concrete future. Â My faith in the abilities of the community remain strong, but the success or failure of Armed Assault as a game in the long run is not in our hands at this point. What I would like is some no-BS answers from BIS. Â They seem content to let others answer for them. Â But I want to hear from the people who have my money. Some direct answers would do far more for PR than searching for information and answers on threads like this.

    Helicopter - Rearming

I have been able to rearm without being completly still, but I cannot for the life of me do it again. I can't figure out the "sweet-spot" or exactly where you should be in relation to the rearm vehicle. Half the time the icon pops up and then just disappears before I can begin. Also in the campaign I had the trouble of not being able to reload weapons that were empty in the Cobra.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Great posts! Thank you for your well thought replies. I'm glad to see people are really thinking about these concepts and not spouting off with something they saw on CNN. Heres more food for thought. A core value in America is the freedom of religion. Mind you that is freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Wow..that last post was tough to follow. So in a slight change of direction, but in keeping with religion, the Government, and "control" I would like to put this forth: 1.) The other day I saw a bumper sticker that said "Don't pray in my school and I won't think in your church." Witty, but who is really up in arms worried about religion in schools? Â Other than right-wing fanatics wanting it back in school, or left-wing hippies angry that the Pledge of Alliegence has the word "God" in it...who is losing sleep over this? 2.) Why is one Religion something we need to be more "sensitive too," while another Religion is offensive? Example: Â A New York Supreme court will be hearing a case regarding schools allowing displays for Hanukka and Ramadan, but banning any display of the Nativity sceen. Â The "Holiday" Tree was permitted. Please refrain from getting tempy in your responses. Â These are issues to provoke thought and discussion.

    Arma online distribution by SPROCKET

Not to mention Steam is not meant for so limited a use...unlike Sprocket: "We make no claims, nor apply any assertion that this site is suitable or configured for access for anyone outside of the Czech Republic."

    Helicopters in AA

It's an improvement, that I can say. Feels like a compromise between the ease of flying in OFP and the ArmedA 1.01 version. Maybe I am just too used to the OFP flight controls, but I agree that many flight characteristics still need work. I am happy to see results and eagerly (yet patiently) await more.

Artillery in Arma, how to use?

I'd imagine that you're the only one who finds you funny, in that case. Â I was simply saying that artillery isn't typically equipped to deal with tanks because their fire is not accurate enough for it. Â Tanks and aircraft are better at it because they are more accurate. Â Giving an artillery battery HEAT shells would be wasteful. Â This is not knowledge that you need to look up on google. Â It's simple and conceptual. Â You're attacking my conceptual description with a laundry list of unrelated facts. Â I'm not quite sure why that is- I think it must be a personality trait that you have. Â Either way, you're putting a lot of restrictions on what I was saying that have nothing to do with what I was talking about. Â I specified 105mm because the screens look like 105mm guns, and because, perhaps, HE shells of a coastal defense calibre might be effective in destroying tanks- I don't know. Â At any rate, what you're talking about doesn't seem to be what I'm talking about. Â Thanks for delineating your point- that point being to mock me, but maybe there are better places for it? Â Kthnx. If you really get this worked up and bent out of shape over a video game forum to the point of personal attacks then maybe you should do some self reflection. Your the all-knowing genuis on military facts, you win, gold metal...heres a cookie. Â Do you feel better now? Â Hopefully you can let it rest.

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

so err doest that mean they wont even try to help us? Ug..did I say that. As I mentioned before the problem was quickly fixed and I have my game to play. My point is that had I read the "fine print", including the copy protection, I would have rather had the DVD in my hand. Just less to go wrong in my experience.

Artillery in Arma, how to use?

I AGREED with your original premise that 105mm's don't kill tanks in my last post. I was just making fun of your post by pointing out the fact that anyone can spout-off military facts/data after a few mins and a google search. And yet you do it again..and again do it badly. The Bofors/Saab Strix, for example, is a 120mm dedicated anti-armor MORTAR round. The SADARM is a submunition for use in 155mm and larger systems at this time, NOT the 105mm. Give it a rest Jr! Nobody Cares!

Online meeting of all ArmA players

Wow...sounds fun. That sounds worse than an Everquest wedding. ...A whole bunch of guys hanging out at the beach in shorts and flip flops...

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

Ok so they are a new site and working out the bugs...sounds familiar. They did fix the problem and I did get the game. However it is really a "use at your own risk" deal From the Sprocket "Terms" "We make no claims, nor apply any assertion that this site is suitable or configured for access for anyone outside of the Czech Republic."

Artillery in Arma, how to use?

I thank you for your service Marine! As someone with real knowledge of this stuff maybe you can tell us a better way to target using the artillary. Assuming with some work or a mod that it can be done, what is a practicle/realistic way to target the artillary for longer distances? Using the targeting sight with elevation, clicking on the map where you want your fire to fall, or the CTI (mortar) style of grid coordinates? I too would love to have some "real" arty support. Maybe I can talk some people smarter than me into helping me make it happen.

Artillery in Arma, how to use?

Well I guess your partly right. Â The M119A1 105mm Lightweight Towed Howitzer is not designed to be a tank killer. Â Most rounds are HE/Framgmentation and anti-personel (primarily used against personnel and materiel targets). Â However your way off on the "molten copper" thing. Â Cluster bombs do use an explosive shaped charge (a formed molten copper jet slug) as the primary antiarmor weapon. Â These can be the of the type dropped by aircraft or delivered by surface artillery or rockets (including155mm and 203mm artillery projectiles and Multiple-Launch Rocket System rockets) Spend a few mins searching on google and you can learn alot. anyway........... Thank You Balschiow! Â Your post was great! Â Your instructions were most helpful. Â I will go and give that a try immediately! Thanks again for the assist!

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

I used Sprocket to dl my game and while it has resulted in no problems regarding the ArmedA software, I had numorous issues with the buy-download-play process. I am trying to do this without "trash-talking" Sprocket. This is simply my experience and advice. First my advice is to CAREFULLY read their "Terms" witch includes the following: "We make no claims, nor apply any assertion that this site is suitable or configured for access for anyone outside of the Czech Republic." Second click on the "About" icon and again CAREFULLY read the section titled "The protection" so you understand what the copy protection is and to answer any ...what if I need to reformat?... questions. As far as my experience with Sprocket...the order process/security scared me. I registered with the site, yet that seemed to be pointless because my order info was not in my profile. I was unable to download immediately after my purchase. The auto responses from Sprocket/IDEA games were in Czech, however the next day I got an email in english basiclly telling me to try again. This time I was successful. I also received a follow up email 2 days later, but it was again in Czech so I have no idea what it says. So my advice is take a moment to read the parts of their web page noted above, and consider your options before you decide. Personally I think I should have waited. My experience with downloadng games has not been a good one.(ie STEAM, Sprocket) I will only purchase software that arrives on something tangible like a CD/DVD in the future.

    official complaint to BIS

Oh yea forgot to mention this before, but I think its worthy of a complaint. What the hell is the M163 Vulcan Air Defense vehicle doing in this game! That thing was deemed obsolete in the 1980's! We have hummers, we have Stingers...Avenger Air Defense system anyone!?

    Geforce4 too old?

I am currently running ArmedA with a BFG G-Force 6600 GT OC (PCI-E) and have to run it on low settings to get a half-decent frame rate. Â Considering this is on the LOW end of the system specs I would not reccomend it. Â I didn't buy this game to run it on LOW settings. So I'm going to sac-up and buy something a bit more beefy, all dependent on how much cash I can scrape up. Then again after playing a little, I might just wait until the game is FINISHED.

    official complaint to BIS

Duke this is not the only time I have heard this complaint about that same card. Your not alone. And unfortuneately they have no real solution at this time. I let them know that others are having this issue so hopefully if they come up with anything they will pass it on. Can't be just the card.

    official complaint to BIS

I'm not really concerned with whats in VBS2 or "Game 2." I'm concerned with whats NOT in, and what's wrong with ArmedA. I have not paid for VBS2 or "Game 2." I HAVE paid money for ArmedA. I am stupified by this "Cold War Rearmed" thing. Rather than encourage the community to help fix and add elements to ArmedA, they asked to import the old campaign...? Wouldn't time be better spent bringing the community together to create NEW content instead of converting and debugging OLD content. Hello BIS PR department!? Sounds like they want the community to import all the stuff from OFP thats missing in ArmedA for them while they work out the bugs. So in other words I waitied 5 years and bought a buggy game missing alot of vehicles only to be asked to create playble content for the game?

    official complaint to BIS

Finnaly an original gripe! For pages now it's been the same ole whining. That's kind of why I did't attempt to repeat any of them in my post. I'm just as whiney as many, but no need to be repedative. Back to my point. Dieangel can you please elaborate on what you mean. What are we being deprived of?
