Holand - i am in shock

That makes it worse. I personally dispise any attempt at manipulation. If that is the case then this certainly did not have the desired effect on me. My disgust at the concept and then at the fact it was a hoax completely nullifies any compassion that may have been gained for the issue. Disgraceful.

climatic changes, what do you think about that?

I mentioned a movie based on the topic. Â Yes, the movie was "made" by someone involved in *censored*. Nobody was making this a *censored* discussion. Some replies were simply making the point that the two have become intertwined and that it can bee seen as a negative to rationally dealing with the issue I understand that you don't want this thread to become a *censored* disscussion, but it's a bit silly to get so worked up over the use of a word. Â Especially in the manner it was used.

    SUGGESTION: Ranks

As far as using points for gaining global rank, I think this would take away from many of the elements i like about ArmedA rather than add to them. I remember a while back many OFP servers started keeping point rankings. It lead to point hogging and a decrease in team play. It even became often that I would find one person on a server late at night just blowing stuff up to pad their stats. And thus tracking points went by the wayside. Not that its a bad concept, it's just not practicle in use.

    Military Humor

While interviewing a US Army Special Forces soldier  in Afghanistan, a Reuters News reporter asked the soldier what he felt when killing an Al Qaeda with a sniper rifle. The soldier thought for a moment and replied, "Recoil." I thought this couldn't be real...but the address says it is. Army now has a new coloring book on its website to try to lure potential recruits. Other..."cool stuff"..pfft HaHa hahaha...ahh..uhg

climatic changes, what do you think about that?

While scientits don't agree on what is causing the warming, they agree its occuring to some extent. Â Another point from our friends in thick glasses is that we cannot do anything do stop it. Â Al didn't mention that part... Yes politics has become an unfortunate part of this issue...and frankly has ensured there will be no rational or decisive debate on it. My favorite example is how legislators want to outlaw the old fashioned light bulbs and force the use of the new, "energy saving" CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) bulbs. Â Only problem is they take more energy to produce and make sure you check the disposal warnings on the packaging. Â They contain levels of mercury powder that are hazardous. Â A broken bulb in the home could cost you $2,000 for environmental cleanup to remove contamination. Â Not to mention what this means for landfills. Yay eco-green-itarianism!

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

In response to vilas comment, it was not done in "secret."  It was as if nobody was paying attention.  Interesting analysis shinRaiden.  You approach it from from an angle that is very informative, and seemingly much more trusting. However it dose not alleviate my concern.  These new powers granted far exceed anything previously held by a president in a time of war.  This is a giant leap past FDR's War Powers Act during WWII or Lincoln's suspension of Habeas Corpus in 1861 and 1862.  Again I see this as far more than simple consolidation, which may be practical in business, but goes completely against separation of powers in American government.  Regardless of the intent of NSPD-51, of which an adequate explanation has yet to be given, the language and power granted is quite startling. The simple fact is that this president, and those that follow, now hold power that the office was not intended to have.  The founding fathers would clearly have a fit if they knew that the office of the President had the powers of king. I know the response to this is that I’m overstating it.  The simple fact is…I’m not.  This does give supreme power for any reason the President sees fit.  That is NOT over simplifying it.  The language is that broad, and the power that far reaching. Of course that dose not mean it will be used with ill intent.  But can anyone guarantee that any successive president will also not misuse this?  We are talking about elitist politicians here….

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

This thread is NOT to be used for Bush or America bashing. Â There are plenty of places to do that. The intent of this thread is to discuss a very specific topic. Â If you can't stay on target or resist the urge to make dimwitted comments...then refrain from posting anything. Topic: Â National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 51 (or NSPD-51). Do a search of this topic and you will find a distinct lack of coverage by the "mainstream" press. Â Bush has few fans remaining, and yet this nugget has been completely ignored by all of his foes. Â You would think that such a seemingly diabolical event would ignite furious debate, and provide those eager to furthur damage the administration with evidence of their lofty claims. Â And yet ....there is nothing to be said? I can find some discussion on nut-job web sites...but they always have some Haliburton/UFO/satan conspiracy to talk about. Â There has even been some talk about it in major US newspapers, yet with a satirical twist that robs it of any serious contemplation. Â So why is it that an actual news source deemed "right wing" is the only one voicing sober concern? Â I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but this really has my brain working hard trying to sort all of the possibilities, both simple and complex. Â I hope that conservatives, libertarian's, and those in the middle not blinded by a partistan inflexibility will not let this go. Â This may indeed get ugly. I'm sorry this thread requires research, but I think you will be glad that you did. Power Grab George W. Bush Is GOP's Bill Clinton Whitehouse.gov Have you figured out why this guy is pissed? building class list

The building class list has been a great asset, thanks. However I am having trouble finding a certain one. What i am looking for is the panel walls that are usually used to surround military bases. On the class list I see three, the woodland camo, civi, and desert camo listed as: Land_zed_dira Land_zed_dira_civil Land_zed_dira_desert These are the type of wall I want to use, but each is a section with a hole in it, not ideal for creating an enclosed wall. I have tried removing the zed, or dira part hoping that was in reference to the hole part...but no luck. I really just want the intact wall segment. Any help is appreciated.

Holand - i am in shock

When I first heard of this I thought it was a rather vulgar concept. Â Then I read the news line posted. Â The fact that people wait for organs is vulgar, thus justifying a vulgar TV show? Which makes more sense: A.) Programming in the form of trendy "reality-tv" that will earn money for the company broadcasting it by commercializing the tradgedy of others and selling ad time. B.) A documentary or investigative journalist report that sheds a light onto a tragic issue in a compassionate manner. Sadly I'm not even that suprised. Â With the growing popularity of "Ultimate fighting," I'm waiting for the show where strangers have to hunt down and kill other common folks until there is one left...for ALL NEW APPLIANCES! "LAST CITIZEN STANDING...brought to you by Whirlpool."

    ArmA is just ... awesome!

I originally bought the game through Sprocket which was a nightmare because the MP simply didn't work. Now I have the Atari version wich works perfectly, and there are no reinstalation, reactivation, MP issues at all. Best of all, after getting my refund for the bad Sprocket version I was able to give most of my money to support Atari.

As far as the "will not use an activation," doubt it. Theres only one answer to sprocket problems.

    ArmA is just ... disappointing

Got the sprocket version. MP didn't work. Spent 4 months getting a refund. Bought an Atari version. (less $ to BIS, well done! Now there are 3 different versions, and I'm here posting because I dont want to play Evolution 1.5a....... What began in 2001 was a revalation for me in gaming. Greatest game I ever played, best people I ever played with. I remember the first MP maps for OFP...I'll buy into that "give it time thing." But the decisions made by BIS astound me. It is as if they are truly TRYING to fail. One word Sprocket...my god do you hear the sucking sound. Even these forums have become an unfriendly place. My theory is that we are all spending too much time in the FORUMS, and not enough time in the GAME. Thankfully there are other decent games that have come out out to kill my 3 hours of free time per night...better than TV!

    Bi forum for life?

Well put shinraiden. Â However, there are many with legitimate gripes. Â These concerns could very well be drowned out by the "hater" noise. Quote Tovarish: "and some of us look for creative ways to earn the next WL, slowly comitting suicide by moderator." After my Sprocket experience I REALLY tried this, and not slowly. Â Yet because those concerns are totally ignored, so was I. Â I calmed down when a refund was finally agreed to...funny thing is I got my "ding" for a minor nothing at the same time.

    Bi forum for life?

I pop in when I get bored or feel like pretending to work. If your worried about censorship then post in this thread.  Its like the plague to moderators and BIS so you can pretty much say anything.  If they read it I would be banned by now. Speaking of banned...are you serious about Blackdog? ...there goes the comic relief...pretty much just another blog now then  PS hmm not locked yet...

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

Seeing as this thread is the plague to BIS and Moderators, I guess I'm pretty safe in posting this.... In the words of...well let's just say the "authority" .... your complaints are unfounded. See here. ATTENTION BIS: Sprocket ..thread My only advice to those with Sprocket is have patience, when that runs out demand service, if that dosen't happen get a refund and buy a boxed copy.

ArmA shipped May 1st to be sold in Stores (*NOT)

Same here. Most of the EB/Gamestop's (Same company owns them) in my area got 3 copies each...May 11th. 2 stores I went to didn't even have it displayed. There is an explination though. They have a new policy about putting merchandise on the sales floor. So, they may just not have taken the disk out and put out an empty box for it yet. However...it supposed to be for stuff over $49.99 Who knows, kinda hard to get sales if nobody see's it though

    ATTENTION BIS: Sprocket

Unfortunately there are already 26 pages of these complaints deevius. Sprocket troubleshooting thread That thread is like the plague to anyone from BIS or Moderators. Â Your complaint will likely be ignored by those that can help and ridiculed by those same people that have made excuses on every "complaint" thread from the start. I was in your shoes, I "feel your pain." Â The result was that I got my refund and waited for boxed version from a publisher. Meaning...BIS went from getting most of my money through their Sprocket system to getting a small percentage from a publisher. Great way to run a business Â

    Ejection from a jet

Yes. Some of the OFP addons had good ones. The F18 Hornet had a great 2 stage ejection. If you have a copy of OFP check that out as a reference.

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

had this problem with a previous patch. They couldn't fix it and ultimately I spent the next 3 months bitching until I got a refund. Bought the Atari version..no moer crashes,no more problems. Now I can install and re-install as I please. Sprocket has not worked right fromt he start and is a drain ...someone should just pull the plug.

    The A-10

The OFP addon A-10 by I think it was Deseil, was far better in terms of balanced weapons. Â It may not have been as perty, and the cannon may have been too powerful.... But at least it carried a realistic assortment of weapons. Â No bomb's on the A-10 is like a girl with two different sized boobs. Â Having a big boob in one hand and a little boob in the other...its all out of ballance and it ruins the whole experience!

    targeting in aircraft

This is my biggest beef with the controls as well Red. The inability to select a target without scrolling through them is a step backward from OFP. I used this even more often in choppers (in ofp) then in the plane. Forget the flight controls, I just want to be able to pick MY target!

i wanted to do a screenshot

Yes this dose belong in Editing. OMG people there is a simple solution to this. Name the EAST/OPFOR soldier MAN1. Open the mission file as a text file and find MAN1. Change his side from "EAST" to "WEST" and make sure the RES/Independent side is set to friendly with west. Restart the map and the soldier should show as friendly on the map editor and will behave as a friendly. All good now?

    BI Forum Reconnaissance Game

You are correct, Republic XF-12 (XR-12) Rainbow, Giant photographer prototype. "In 1943, the USAAF had an urgent need to fly photo-reconnaissance missions over the Pacific Theater to identify Japanese positions and movements. But its airfields were far too distant for the medium-range planes to make the round trip. Its only recourse was to issue a request for a new long-range, high altitude reconnaissance plane capable of the long-endurance missions the Pacific War required. In March 1944, Republic Aircraft responded to the USAAF by proposing to modify its experimental civilian RC-2 transport to the specifications. The proposal was accepted and Republic received an order for two prototypes which designated XF-12. Its competitor was the Hughes XF-11. While the Rainbow was under development, the USAAF converted several B-29 bombers into recon aircraft, reclassifying them as F-13s. Even after the war, Republic continued to develop the Rainbow, changing its designation from the XF-12 ("F" stood for "Foto") to the XR-12 ("R" for "Reconnaissance"). The first XR-12 made its maiden flight in February 1947. Its performance was up to expectations, making it the fastest four piston-engine aircraft flying at the time. Development of the two prototypes continued until 1948 when the USAF canceled the program, choosing the newer RB-29 and RB-50 instead." Your go Scorpion.
