To each his own. I honestly don't see the attraction. RW doesn't sound half as good as ingame voice (a purely subjective statement). I obviously don't play in the same places as most of you folks; I don't run into these annoyances (Well, I do, but nothing close to the number of incidents needed to warrant using something different). Nothing to setup, everything is already there and ready to go, and I don't care how many sessions RW has -- you still can't be the global, side, vehicle, group channels. The game automaticly sorts it all out. You don't have to cordinate the switching between the various elements.

Heh. I haven't noticed any problems with spammers or music players lately. Most of the servers I play on have a good number of them banned. Heh. IMHO, RW is an extremely poor replacement for ingame voice. I can't imagine using it with OFP.
-
We spoke about your efforts with dismay. The concensus then was that RW was substandard in comparison to ingame voice, and that anyone who would attempt to enlist others in his cause of using RW with OFP, must not be fully aware of the game's intrinsic capabilities.
-
Heh. It was the WKK map with the aircraft that would respawn.
-
Heh. You know there is ingame voice. You were a point of fierce discussion awhile back on a server I saw you on. Of course you didn't hear any of it, we were using ingame voice. Whats wrong with ingame voice anyways? IMHO, it sounds better than roger wilco. Roger wilco can't use the various channels either, and as you have seen, it's not terribly easy to cordinate a game using a RW server. With ingame voice all the work is done for you. All you have to do is connect and toggle the voice key. It couldn't be simpler.

Starting mission in a boat

I think I was. Was that the map where you had to drive like 20km in a jeep? If so, that was pretty bad. I spent the whole time balancing on top of a machinegun. I think we ended up rounding a turn too quickly, slamming into a jeep. Boy, that was a pain. We had to drive all the way back.
-
Thats happened to me a couple of times. I shoot the pilot, the vehicle continues on its path, usually winding up slamming right into me (Unfortunately, standing right in front of a vehicle awards you the best view of the occupant).
-
I think you misread my comments. I am for logs. The second comment was in reply to the question of, "how best to approach BIS to get this done." Heh. I said it as a joke.

I'm not sure how OFP handles the config. If it is loaded into memory at bootup or before the mission, stored without removal for the duration, you would have to check the memory itself. This is no easy task, it's even harder when you have no knowledge of where it's being held. You would have to invest the same amount of time and effort as any cheat developer. Infact, you would probably have dedicate more time and effort. Besides, BIS seems to be in a better position to handle all of this. They possess the knowledge, tools, and ability to do all of this. Without reverse engineering the game and breaking the EULA. All the above is speculation anyways. Another reason why they are in a better position to handle all of this. They already know the answers to most of these questions.

Hashing, stirring in a challenge as the seed works well (it's far from infallible though). Server side checks work well also. "Does everything seem to appear fine? Any unusual behavior?" There are many options which can be tried. I don't think digital signatures on all the mods is very practical or workable, that is, if you want to have a very bustling or free mod community. Nothing is impossible, or close to. You just have to try your best to counter any sort of attack which could be performed. It's unfortunate that there are elements in our community who wouldn't think twice about investing time in developing such horrible things.

Screaming profanities while calling them horrible names seems to work.

Great! I always wanted to play a peace keeper. Handing out sacks of grain... giving small children injections... creating sources of safe drinking water for the elderly and frail... This OFP mission is going to be extremely unique! I bet we will see a whole bunch of other missions based around the same concept. You could do a mission set just after ww2, 'The Berlin Airlift'. The possibilities are endless!
