Potatomasher replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
What are the changes in this new patch. The log seems to be from old version. It's much bigger so i'm hoping for something worth. -

ScreenShots of all the different graphic settings for ARMA 2 (1920 x 1080, Big Pics)
Potatomasher replied to koroush47's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Quite the opposite IMO. Without HDR the gfx looks so jagged and the immersion vanishes. But with high HDR setting the image is almost like photorealistic at times. No more jaggies and everything in the scenery blends perfectly. -
Now i'm quite happy how the mission flows so i decided to declare new version 1.0 and is final. Link updated in first post.

Strange. You didn't had the radio in map screen to call artillery guys ? Try the 0.3 version. It's gives more challenge and there's one nasty "thing" that can wipe all tanks before they even reach town gates. It happened to me. ;) It just seems this mission plays differently every time so it's really hard to adjust things. Guess this is the best part of BIS engine. But i'll try something... I'll be improving the mission whenever i have time. I'm just learning the capabilities of Arma 2 editor. Thanks all, for the feedback. ---------- Post added at 06:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:10 PM ---------- Once again i updated mission. See first post for links.

I just updated the mission so it's now a little harder if you don't use artillery massively.

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx
Potatomasher replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Check your version number in the main menu to make sure you really have launched the game with the beta patch. Because me and many other guys have reported that the smoke works now like it should. It lasts couple of minutes now. -
You're right, there's something wrong with your setup obviously. Try changing memory timings and see if that helps. I have similar setup than yours (you have slightly faster cpu & mem ) and i got 1860 arma mark score. I even used PP high setting.

ArmaHolic ArmA 2 Optimization
Potatomasher replied to Fox '09's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You can hear your HDD crunching almost all the time when moving around. Only time it's quiet is when your completely still and all the textures are loaded, but as soon you start to move crunching begins. What about Arma1 ? Does it load as much from HDD aswell. I don't remember my HDD was so frigging noisy when i last time played it. -
Boot Camp: How to target tank?
Potatomasher replied to Yapab's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You must first drag then change to carry body from action menu. -
Is NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT + Intel Core Duo 2 T7300 2.00Ghz good enough for ArmAII?
Potatomasher replied to giu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You can run it fine with that GPU. Also memory is enough for arma as long as it runs in dual channel, otherwise you may get lot's of slow texture loadings. But i suggest moving on to that other similar thread. There's probably someone already posted similar specs than yours. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=72181 -
I was surprised how smoothly my rig can handle the big smoke clouds from smoke grenades and explosions. In that village sweep scenario where you call the airstrike and 2 bombs fall in to the heart of the village my fps stayed above 18 (usually around 25 ) all the time even with old rig like mine. Walking in big cities/villages is much more fatal fps killer. There my fps may go down to 10 at times. Guess my GPU is still powerful enough. Also i can keep PP high and no degrade on fps, as a matter of fact fraps shows 2 fps increase if i use high and not off setting. Also i get more arma mark score if i use PP high instead off. Tried multiple times and results were always the same.

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Potatomasher replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Buy a new GPU definetly and 3 gb more mem. 1 gb atleast. Your resolution is hidious. 1280 x 1024 res is minimum these days. Here's my detail levels: Res - 1280 x 1024 Texture Detail - High Video Memory - High Anisotropic Filtering - High AA - Normal Terrain Detail - Normal Objects Detail - Normal Shadow Detail - High PostProcess Effects - High VD - 2000 http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/4468/arma22009060921111383.jpg -

Is NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT + Intel Core Duo 2 T7300 2.00Ghz good enough for ArmAII?
Potatomasher replied to giu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hard to tell before knowing your graphics card. -
Really. I was surprised how many old gamers there are on the forums here. I don't feel so childish anymore even though my wife tries to convince it. ;)

Potatomasher replied to giu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
My specs are in my sig. Here's my detail levels that run the game in scenarios about 20-30 fps. So if you have similar powered GPU you should run fine the game medium/high settings. Res - 1280 x 1024 Texture Detail - High Video Memory - High Anisotropic Filtering - High AA - Normal Terrain Detail - Normal Objects Detail - Normal Shadow Detail - High PostProcess Effects - High VD - 2000 -
Animations could look ok, but gfx... no way. :) http://www.combatsim.com/htm/apr00/jpg/fp_infantry.jpg But we should stop this conversation on this thread before Placebo or Wolle drops a bomb. ;)

OFP definetly looks like *hit nowadays. You don't even need to be so called "gfx whore" to see that. But on topic i think the server where Relemar has played maybe forced low details to game. Otherwise MP should look exactly like SP.
-
Why ? It doesn't sound bug to me. If you glide to a tree IRL you probably hurt yourself and maybe get stuck in it. This is great if this really happens in game too. I haven't tried myself yet. I have always founded field for landing. ;)

You do know that the beta patch fixed that ?
