  4. I figured I would rejuvenate an old thread regarding BIS's scripting language, . I think it still needs an 'official' name. I believe the general consensus from our last poll was 'BIScript'. Here's an updated poll with our final selections.

    ArmA Scripting Language

Sorry, I had to go off topic for a second for this. Sat down at my workstation, opened my editor of choice,

    ArmA Scripting Language

Bjarne Stroustrup called it 'c++' because it's basically c with the OO extras. The BIS langauge may include cpp config files, but this language is an incarnation of it's own. Don't let the 'cpp' extension misguide you. If anything, you could probably call it 'sq++'.

    ArmA Scripting Language

That's true. In fact, we discussed it previously in the old ArmA thread. I forget, but for some reason, there were devs that didn't want to refer to the language as such anymore. Although, this was originally discussed a year ago so I could be wrong.

Yes, there will be MP support. Taking note of this, we'll check it out as we get further into the port.

    chain of command

Well, since a few of you have already started discussing this, I figured I'd go ahead and show a few WIP screenshots of of CEX in ArmA2. As you can see there are quite a few tweaks that still need to be made, but the port is transitioning much smoother than initially expected. Hopefully, we can have a beta out soon for you guys to play with. Here a few screenies:

You should be able to cook the bacon on the barrel after firing off several rounds. Although, the enemy might be able to spot you from then on, and the wildlife.

  16. Network Services 3.0 Public Beta -------------------------------------------------------- The Chain of Command is proud to present our first public beta release, Network Services 3.0 for ArmA. What is it For? -------------------------------------------------------- Many of you may already be aware of NS from our previous ancestor, OFP. Â We took this addon and made significant updates, optimizations, and enhancements to support ArmA. Â For our old-school players, there should be little explaining to do, and you can look foward to porting your NS supported addons over to ArmA. Â Otherwise, you may find NS 3.0 helpful for creating in depth missions like Capture The Island (CTI), Real Time Strategy (RTS), possibly CE3 for command control , and many other missions/addons that require an advance networking solution. Â NS 3.0 can also aid in minimizing network traffic and synchronizing JIP Clients. Resources -------------------------------------------------------- NS 3.0 provides many resources you can depend on like CoC_isServer, CoC_isClient, CoC_isServerClient, CoC_isServerDedicated. Â In addition, the arrays CoC_ClientList and CoC_PeerList which contain a list of all the conencted users, their objects, names and prefixes. NS 3.0 can also provide many a working solution for synchronizing JIP Clients. Â A new flag has also been added to represent JIP Clients, CoC_isJIPClient. Â All lists and flags are updated upon respawn and JIP. Â Index 0 represents the server and is always guaranteed. Supported send data types are: * Boolean * Null Group * Null Object * Side * String(strings must be 4000 chars or less) * Number * Object * Group * Array (filled with nothing or any of the above in any combination) * Multi-Dimensional Array (filled with nothing or any of the above in any combination) Special Notes -------------------------------------------------------- Please understand there is currently a handshaking process completed on each machine at the beginning of every mission. Â The is currently at most a 25 sec delay upon mission start, before NS 3.0 completely intializes. Â We are working to minimize and prevent this wait in our final release. Â This wait can significantly be reduced by adding the following at the top of your init.sqf: CoC_ConnectTimeout = 10; CoC_MaxRetry = 2; Special Thanks -------------------------------------------------------- First of all, I'd like to thank bn880 for the awesome addon! Â I'd also like to thank Spinor for helping test, listen to my sacrastic remarks, being the nice guy that he is, and providing input when I'm completely lost or wacked out of my gord. Â HudsonTPF for orignally getting me interested with making addons for OFP and shooting me down in them. Â Scatter and Leopard2 for helping me test. The 506th for the good games, http://www.506th-pir.org. I'd also like to thank Zeus Community, Killswitch, ViperMaul, and lwlooz for assisting with testing and bug fixes! ArmA on Iphone

snafu, is that a cellphone with a screenshot of Poseidon overlaid on top?

    ArmA on Iphone

Actually, iPhones have quite impressive hardware and a superior OS. Â The iPhone boasts a 650 Mhz Samsung processor and has a min of 8GB of RAM. Â Plus the phone is sporting a port of Mac OS X's hybrid kernel. Â I would hardly call this 'complete shit'.

    Facebook ArmA

Just wanted to provide a quick update, we are keeping both pages. The initial Armed Assault page is going to remain to cover all general ArmA news and updates. The new ArmA2 fanpage will provide exclusive ArmA2 updates straight from the devs

    Facebook ArmA

Actually there are now 2 official groups, some of us from CWR created an initial group with Placebo's consent a few weeks back. Â It's located here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Armed-Assault/129631890374 Gaia, created an additional fan page for Arma2 exclusives unaware of ours here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/ARMA-2/72200346016 We'll probably consolidate or just make one ArmA1 and the other ArmA2. Â We'll see, sorry for the confusion guys.

Fk Andersson, you should watch the HD version of that footage and pause on the editing tools part. It's really not that impressive. You can do the same in the BIS tools already.
