  1. Well said. Just because someone can "max crysis" on their hardware they belive Arma2 is "unoptimized and suck" when they cant "max it". The "max" meaning all graphics options on their fullest witch seems the most important to some. Although Arma2 is very nice graphicaly its so much more than graphics, there is an unbelivable amount of stuff going on underneath that some fail to see.

BI, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

If you look in "ArmA 2 - TROUBLESHOOTING" im sure you are right. As been said before, most people that are not having any problems dont post about it.
  3. Glad you like the idea :). It would be interesting to see if lots of those "crash craters" creates any lag. I dont know if they disapear over time in vanilla, but if they dont create any lag it would be cool if they remained for the duration of the mission (or "fixed" by engineers). Edit: If you or anybody else can get this working it would be awesome to have as a standalone addon as well.
  4. Yeah i was only throwing in an idea i had, good point about the disappearing rubble:). My main point is that in vanilla there is just a texture for craters, if there was some kind of debris it would make it more interesting as you could do airfield denial missions and delaying groundtroops by bombing roads.
  5. Just had an idea and thought i threw it in here. When aircraft crashes there is rubble/debris in 3d model, couldnt that model be scripted where bombs impact? It would be great for runway bombing, as it would make a bombed runway inoperable. Maybe restrict it for LGB´s (maybe satchels also for sf missions) only to keep amount of debris low for lag issues. To clear the debris get enginers (or just any soldiers) within a certain radius for a certain amount of time and it gets "repaired".
  6. Its not only the latest and greatest, but also the only existing so far :p

    Default FOV too zoomed in?

Does trackir mess with fov? I have been using it for some time, and now when starting arma2 without (trackir) it seems the fov is different, more zoomed in.
  8. One problem with all snow "maps" i have played on Ofp was that the ground was like cement painted white. No objects (men/vehicles..) sinks into the snow, if it was possible to mod actual snow depth so that feet/wheels/threads would be partly covered (maybe even random depth) it would add alot to the immersion. Maybe even have a particle effect around feet/wheels when moving. All to make it look more like real snow instead of a hard white surface.

Important Fix for the next patch.

Agree. There is already a keybind to this function, no need to have it on another one (especialy not on the fire button).
  10. As far as i know the only processors that has HT is Pentium4, Atom and i7. The Core family (Core2Duo/Core2Quad) does not.
  11. Try with/without HT, some games/apps works better with HT on, others with HT off (some has no effect). As far as i know the only way to turn HT on/off is in the BIOS. Edit: HT = Hyper Threading. For those that dont know what it is :)

    Miltary Bases on Chernarus??

Hmm during one of my "tours" of the Chernarus landscape i found a fallen guardtower (metal one, same kind as in the airport) near a treeline at a small field, it had a few meters of wirefence beside it. Could be the remains of an old base :) I dont remember where i found it but it was not marked on the map, i could climb it even though it was almost horizental lol. An other "odity" is the bench witch blocks entry to an enterable barrack at NW part of the big airport.

    the cpu count thing?

You might want to try disableing HT as i read in a (Swedish) article that HT gives negative results in gaming, the only gain with HT on is in windows apps such as unpacking, video rendering and such. Link to article (Swedish): http://www.sweclockers.com/articles_show.php?id=6193&page=9 Link to article (English google translate): http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=sv&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sweclockers.com%2Farticles_show.php%3Fid%3D6193%26page%3D9&sl=sv&tl=en&history_state0= Edit: Bottom of page has 2 diagrams, "Hyperthreading Påslaget" = HT ON "Hyperthreading Avstängt" = HT OFF Edit2: The results of Core i5 is the same because it doesnt have HT.
  16. You can also just place them on the guard tower symbol in the editor, might take a few tries before getting them right but when you know the offset its easy. If you place THIS SETUNITPOS "UP" in their init they will remain standing and not lay down when the shooting starts:) Also dont put them in a group as they will climb down and regroup.

    Broken Sound

I have the same issue, this also happens with the startup sound of helicopters. The actual engine sound pans fine but the startup sound dont.

    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

It never occurred to you that "everyone" that asks own a X360 and not a PS3?
  19. Vader voice on/ I find the lack of information about the modules disturbing. /Vadervoice off I really think Bi should make a proper documentation about how the modules work. The modules was supposed to be one of the new great features in Arma2 but if you dont know how to use them properly... I know about the biki but the information is kind of short.

    Motorcycles

No the sound im talking about is a sample that plays everytime you press the accelerator key witch overlaps the actual enginesound, when using earphones its realy annoying because it has highter volume than the actual engine sound. You are right thou that the cars has them to but they work correct as they only play the "vroom" sample once your at a standstill and accelerating. ps. I know motorcycles have gears, ive riden bikes for over 20 years :)

    Motorcycles

No one else irritated of the "broom" sound everytime you press accelerator? The "broom" sound should only play when accelerating from a standstill and not if letting off for a sec and then press again while still rolling. When using the keyboard and wanting to go slowly i tend to press/release/press and it constantly "broom broom broom", very anoying.

    Squad Commands

You should use "Comunications" (spacebar menu), there you will find "Transport" and "Transportation (Active)", select that and click on the map were you want to be droped of. Be careful were you click though as the heli will land were you click, choose your LZ wisely as it some times happily lands in a forrest if you click there, with a crash of course.
  23. But it still doing that "brooom" sound every time you accelerate, even if you just let go for a sec and then accelerate again. It should only play the "brooom" sound when accelerating from a standstill.
  24. When a unit stands 1 meter from a big HE explosion it would look better if it was just deleted (maybe in a "puff" of red smoke) insead of flying 50 meters and end up (dead) with a few scratches, and rifle laying at its feet. It doesnt look very convincing.
  25. If you set yourself as a captive "West" and talk to a "East" he will say: "I will only tell you my name and number" :) Also i sneaked up on a "East" soldier in a pitch black night and tried talk to him, the response was something like: "Huh? what?"
