Many thanks for this campaign that seems to be really nice, BUT I got two issues on the Owl mission :

Was the campain even bug tested?
Moktar replied to OddballWDI's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Indeed, everybody has their own expect of this type of game/simulation BUT if I have a look to the back of the DVD box I can read 4 different paragraphs to define what is ArmA II : A campaign A lot a real weapons Massive multiplayers conflicts An editor Unfortunately, that's not we got. -
Got the same behavior except that I can buy a VBS ($400). It's a truck for troups transport ... waooow  You know what ? Put the ArmA DVD in its box and throw all of them in the trash, that's my guide :681:

Archamedes, no there not "only" 3 missions that have bugs. From my point of view, each of them from Manhattan are strongly bugged. I'm still sticked in Badlands without any solution to pass through. Nothing to do and I have been bored for several days  Awaiting for (another) patches ? mmmm why not but I'm pessimistic. Everything have to be fixed, also the "training" is buggy... I'm sooooo disappointed...

Anyone knows how to report my position when I am the squad leader?
Moktar replied to weapon3000's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
You can just ask them "to regroup" or "return in formation" (select all + menu 1-1) Your question makes me wondering how can a leader gives his position ? The AI can do that when the leader ask them (select the AI and then menu 5-5). The leader position may be useful in some veteran situations -

I'm exactly in the same case, except that the 4 towns are green :D I do not know the assassination mission you mentionned (??) As I can't do anything but driving an lost UAZ or killing my mates to improve my skills :p or whatever else to avoid an annoying spend of time, I get back to the insertion point and I was surprised to meet some civilians... ohhhhh something will happened !? A civilian spoke to me but immediatly stop. I had to fire on them to unlock the dialog  Ok, lets go guys, I will help you. I drived to the destination told by the civilians and .... and ... I get sticked again. -
In an captured town or strongpoint, the action menu (roll the mouse wheel ) let appear some new menus. You can buy weapons, but only for you. Then, have a look to the previous thread of hyperact to have a tip how to transfer your ammos to your mates
-
Hahaha so simple... :p I made the choice to rearm my mates with russian ammos because every thing else was not possible. Ok thx hyperact for this tips. NOTE: When we just take a town or a strongpoint, in the action menu we can select something like "rearm + heal + repair" ... but nothing seems to happen. What this action is supposed to do ?
-
Really strange. I do not encounter this bug (oouffff :D ) to end mission but may be you should try to walk away to see if a trigger raises. I don't think so. THE_REVEREND> This is not the right thread and there is no console as you can expect. Anyway, see the spoiler above ;)
-
It worked for me BUT I had to avoid the hostiles at the bottom of the FOB. If I tried to kill them before climbing the hill, I was totally sticked in this position. Each time I tried to go further on, I was "auto killed" (death trigger). So, avoid the hostiles at the bottom of the FOB

Moktar replied to OddballWDI's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Totally agree with you. I'm a fan of Arma series (playing all OFP series too) and I'm also a software engineer (C/C++). The buggy campaign is unacceptable. Nothing have been tested. I don't know how the team can tell us the opposite ? I've NEVER heard about someone that succeed in the campaign (upto to Manhattan). I bought ArmA II (50€ in France) and the campaign is totally unplayable, even after the 1.02 patch. I'm really disappointed with BIS team, only the Engine of ArmA has been tested, not the Campaign. I well know the constraints of deadlines, delivery and so on but I also know that my company would not have accept to deliver this junk campaign. Unacceptable. -
Hi all, this is my first message and I must say that I'm a newbie in editing/scripting with ArmA. I read a lot of threads and of course the BI wiki's pages but I still wonder how I can land an Heli without stopping its engine Is there no others possibilities than let the heli stay about 1 (meter ? ) above the landing point ? It's not really nice I ever tried to chain the "commands" below but it seems not to work : <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">heli_name land "land"; heli_name EngineOn true; I suppose there is another method but I can't find it. I would enjoy seeing my heli land with its engine ON for extracting my group, for example Thanks for any help.

I'm still not ready. I still have to check differents scenario

Hi all, I wonder if it's possible to insert an UH-60 (for example) without any crew. I insist, I want to do that through the Editing UI I'm really surprised not being able to find out this feature Thx for your help

I've never seen before that Empty choice allow the Air selection Thx

Arma: Mission Editing FAQ
Moktar replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I read several times that the BI wiki is unefficient and I want to repeat that I totally agree with that. The BI Wiki is an huge DB of functions/commands features without any structure. Where is the BI tutorial or real presentation ? Is there any links between the differents subjects described in the BI Wiki ? We are in front of a package of functions/commands that are mixed with the old methods of OFP and no attention have been taken to organize and drop the deprecated features. BI says "sqs syntax is deprecated". Really ? Each text written refer to this syntax. WTF ? I agree with people that complain about the time "we" spent in browsing all categories of the function to eventually find out the feature we are looking for. It's abnormal. But is this thread a solution ? I don't think so. I only find out another list of features and functions similar to the BI wiki, adding some special cases. Why not, but in several days this "DB" will become as unreadable as the BI wiki is . I am sure that all the contributors of this thread want to share their experience and are animated with good intentions. May be we should concentrate our energy in contributing to each try of drawing a tutorial. My opinion -
Not sure to understand correctly the issue. Have a look to my post (with a screenshot) here. You probably omit a WP UNLOAD synchronized with the GET OUT of the group.

Land, unload, wait, load, extract

Indeed. More over, why using the commandGetOut for each member whereas it can be ordered to all a group ? -
Heli "land" without stopping engine
Moktar replied to Moktar's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
"fixing" is not really the correct word Have a look to the screenshot above (clic to enlarge ). The use of multiple and seperated H (H1, H2 & H3) "fix" the chopper landing issues. -
Totally agree with Op4 BuhBye. I read a lot of scripts and in 80% of cases, I wonder why the guy wrote a awful, unstructured and uncommented script whereas the use of two mouse clic would have done the same thing The efficiency of scripts vs triggers (for example) is a BAD reason, I think. Even if a script detects an "event" (seized by, or whatever), all the players MUST be informed of that, like triggers does it in automatic. In OFP, I keep in memory some actions that were totally desynchronized between players due to scripts usage... I think script should be avoided and reserved for local usage. In some case, scripts are useful but the first thing we should NOT do is starting with scripts. The design of a mission should be done with the mission editor, in my opinion.

Heli "land" without stopping engine
Moktar replied to Moktar's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Yes, of course in real life this scene wouldn't be played in the same way but I MUST consider that it's possible in the game. I can't suppose the leader will wait the chopper landing before asking his group to board. I'm training some small and different scene "combo" to be able drawing and designing a bugless mission NOTE : I noticed that the lift off of a chopper can occurs when no H are placed. If there is one (or several, but in case of UNLOAD there is no real issue), the chopper behavior is not hesitant. To conclude, I always think that a non landing of a chopper when some men are present on the H, is not a bug, BUT flying to another WP without any cares of the next WP asking to "wait until a condition always false" IS a bug IMHO. Anyway, I found a pretty elegant solution to "fixe" this. Thanks all for your help -
Heli "land" without stopping engine
Moktar replied to Moktar's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Ok, I think I found why this f*$$cking heli does not do what I want. The aim of this small mission is to embark my group in the heli, then fly to the land zone and then disembark. Clic to enlarge Have a look to the screenshot. My problem is that if a man stay on the H (previously I had only ONE H , ie H1), the heli does not land and go straight to the landing zone (H4) without my group . This seems to be the behavior developped by BI. If someone is on a H, the heli will try to find the close to H... that's why my heli flies straight to the H4 (if I do not add H2, H3). One solution is to place several H on the landing zone (H1, H2, H3). If someone is on the H1, the heli will try to land on the close to next H .. here H2. Again, if someone is on the H2 AND H1, it will try the H3... and so on. This is a poor solution but nothing else seems to work. I tried to force the heli waiting for a cleared H1 (without H2 and H3) BUT nothing worked ! It goes straight to the H4 even if I add a MOVE with condition "player in heli_name" or different WP/Trigger/Scripts/Functions Notice I synchronised GET IN and LOAD to avoid the fly of the heli without ALL my group (and me). Same thing with the GET OUT and UNLOAD TRANSPORT (avoiding the heli fly before all my group get out). My TRIGGER is only here to send a radio message (DISEMBARK) when the heli high is inferior to 2 meters. With that, all my group disembark without a manual intervention (it's automatic). TRIGGER condition : this && ((getpos uh1 select 2) < 2) TRIGGER On Act : commandGetOut units MyGroup ; (MyGroup as been affected with all the members). (uh1 is the heli's name). Cheers -
In general, I use SciTE for all my small developments. Nice tool and many language syntax highlighting.
