    i have ati x1600 256mb AGP, also had this prob before. had to set texture detail to low, oterwise will get that gfx glitch thing. then someone in other thread (cant remember which, sorry...) suggested to check your bios setting and set the video aperture to your video card ram (default was 64 mb, so i reset it to 256mb) and the problem gone. maybe it's because AGP thing? is your vidcard AGP?

    @bravo 6 yes i agree... it lag so much then, no tracer coming out... right now i played with v1.13, put loads and loads of infantry rushing to each other in open plains, at 1830H, played as a civvie, when the bullet starts flying, hit the dirt ( you dont want to get caught in the crossfire :P ) and watch the tracers flying over your head, over the side, everywhere. it was beautiful, and yet scary... played as one of the soldier, it was nerve wrecking... tend to shoot every flash i saw in front of me... to bad ARMA does not simulate suppressing fire very well...

    god bless the OP. now i no longer have that smashed glass gfx (or whatever it was called) when moving around cities and i can also set my texture settings higher than normal never messed aroung with bios before. once again, thank you to OP

    i just updated to v1.14 to fix the bug bravo6 reported. though later i found out the script lag so much if in big firefight. so i suggest to stick to v1.13. v1.14 just add something like 2 unit can have different parameters as bravo6 suggested. i dont know much about scripting, so i dont actually know how to optimize the script. to sauron: first, put trigger on map. then, make it big (the blue round thing) by putting axis a and b to 5000 or whatever. thirly, select activated by anybody (default to none, i guess thats where your problem was) finally put the script on activation line that is all

    @bravo6, i'll look into it... thanks for the report now v1.13 ready to download no bug fixes as yet, just add new features like snkman suggested, where only certain weapon will fire tracer round. rifles wont have the tracer. thanks man. if you still want to have tracer on all weapons, u can still do so. more details in the readme. hope no new bugs emerges http://centipede.4shared.com

    thanks people... especially on activating the script via a trigger, never tried that before. will certainly reduce time to put all those text in the init fields. @snkman i think it can be done. will see how it turns out. i started this project because i love to see the colourfull night these tracer made, thats why i nver thought about which weapon will usually have tracers so i'll see what i can do about it. though rite now im on holiday and my ARMA comp is not here..heheh. so have to wait. problems: i have problems that maybe u guys can help me out. currently, the tracer version that i uploaded that have ricochet, i drop particle(the ball tracer) every 0.01 secs. so if u fired through bushes, trees, forests, at certain angle sometimes u wont see the tracer. so i made another version, without rico effect, and the tracer will be visible at any angle even if i fired thru bushes or trees or whatever. though no ricochet effect. so my question is how do i detect if a bullet has hit the ground or not? then i can use the "if alive" thingy to determine if the bullet has ricocheted or not and drop particle again if necessary. thank you. hope u can understand

    on problem tracer not appearing: i think i can confirm tracers not appearing is caused by FPS/video settings my settings: view distance 1200m everything on max except AA disabled and terrain detail very low(no grass) tracer is visible tried other settings everything on normal, except AA(disabled) and postprocessing on low tracer is visible. so if u cannot see the tracer, try lower the settings one by one and try fire away and see if the tracer is visible.

    this is mine Cpu = Intel p4 3.0ghz GFX = Saphire ati X1600 256mb AGP Memory = 1gig Kingston PC3200 Sound = SB XFI xtreme music VD 1200m Reso 1024x768 Terrain detail = very low (cant have grass, or i'll lag when view scope, prone) Objects Detail = v High Shading = v High Postprocess = v High Antistropic Filtering = v High Shadow Detail = v High Antialiasing = disabled (also FPS killer) Blood = High Texture Detail = Normal, Low when entering cities, because i will have texture artifacts (smashed gfx) i love the grass, but i find a compromise to disable it and still play with pretty gfx. AA seems does nothing for me, except in forest, i will lag so much even i set AA to low. so i just disable it. still wondering why i cant set texture detail higher than normal. maybe because of my RAM or Gfx memory

    yes, i know i can alter bis tracer transperancy in the weapon config, just dont like the hassle.. hehehe about camcreated tracer, i'll try about it during weekends. i think i figured out why some people didnt see this tracer. my arma settings, terrain setting i set to very low, to disable grass. then i try to enable it, my tracer then cannot be seen. maybe it's framerate or, my tracer just crap. not flexible enuff... hope someone can help

    thanks for the idea about example mission... why i didnt think of that how do u think i should do it? pbo'ed mission or mission that u can load up in the editor? maybe i'll just upload them both? hehehe... btw i'm donloding the vbs2 trailer... 1hr to go <edit> yeah.. vbs2 tracer does look awesome...

    @fireship, i agree with u, about the old tracer still visible. during OFP days, we can disable bis tracer in difficulty setting. but in arma disabling that does not do anything. sure bis will fix that someday @overkill, i try to make a video last nite, but it seems when i made a video using fraps, the tracer will be invisible. a bug i suppose on my end. another bug i just noticed is that the tracer wont be visible if we shoot in low FPS environment like bushes, forests and at the sea... so rite now, i think it is pointless to continue. i'll try and post some screenshot i'll released my final version in a few. hope someone will pick it up and continue. or maybe someone could port bn880 amazing tracer. that one use camcreate, so wont have invisible tracer in low FPS environment i think... my only gripe over bn880 tracer is that bn880 tracer doesnt glow.. hehehe

    hmm... thanks for the report... i forgot to delete that line in cent_tracer.sqs i guess. but i never had that problem. try download the v1.1. it should be there. the reason i delete the file because that file does the same thing as cent_rico_effect.sqf, so i just delete the tracer_effect. no worry, download v1.1 and you should be fine. tomorrow i'll upload the fixed v1.11 still, funny because i never had that problem

    in the game, this tracer will follow the ARMA bullet trajectory. i dont change that, just add in some visual effects. so yes, this is merely eye candy only. personally i like every round is tracer round. love to see tracer flying over your head at night. that is until they actually hit you as for other Qs, i'll see what i can do... but for the 762 tracer burns out further then then 556, i think the tracer burn instantly exactly after u press the trigger. but only see it after 800m because, the bullet is very fast right? just like u slingshot a stone, u dont necessarily see the stone right away, only further down you can see where it went... then again, that is my personal thoughts

    basically, it start like this 1. put the init script in the unit init field 2. then the init run the script, adding eventhandler "FIRED" and setting up the tracers ammo 3. then after it all have been set up, the unit fired its weapon, the event handler script kicks in 4. the EH script will check wheter the ammo fired was in the tracer ammo array (in step 2). then it check what kind of ammo (small arms, HMG, MBT, also in step 2) 5. then putting the particle effect script kicks in, checking wheter the projectile is still alive and drop the particle as long as it is alive. end i hope this helps

    How to implement tracers?

    i think you can have 2 different magazine for a weapon. but you cannot shoot from both of the magazine at the same time eg: the m4 uses 30rnd_556x45_stanag and 30rnd_556x45_stanagSD mags. both can be put into the m4 but only 1 is fired at a time. so i think it cannot simulate the 3 round ball then tracer round is fired thing... correct me if im wrong

    my scripting ability is still very limited but i'll see what i can do about it. as for tracer in the weapons config, as far as i know there are only RGBA(red, green, blue, alpha) value there. not sure about size... maybe u can elaborate more? another question, how do i put this script into a unit config? so that i dont have to put [this] exec .... on every unit init field?

    x2 EDIT: err i'm not seeing any difference in the tracers. yeah tried it at night, ect. wtf? @novusurdo, try using bmp or vulcan... you should see it clearer. i assume u were using small arms? the tracer a bit small. try at night n put NVG on, you should see it 'glow' @griff, i dont know how to make it elongated... i'm using drop particle command, just as wolfbane's does. im not sure it's possible. if it is possible, can someone point to the right direction?
