3D Vision to actually improve gameplay
Manareth replied to Manareth's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Hopefully ATI will catch up soon, and it will become a standardized part of directx like cuda did (under a different moniker, of course). -
Aside from adding depth to the world making it easier to determine range, a few features could be programmed to make 3D a worth-while investment for gamers. Imagine flying the Apache with the I.H.A.D.S.S. (it can't be moved to the left eye in real life) system only rendering to what your right eye will see, or pulling up a scope and only having it render to your dominant eye allowing you to close one eye and see through the scope, then open the other to have better awareness of whats around you. Just a thought

Arma 2 is absolutely gorgeous, and I often just place an offroad(white) pickup and go on a drive. One of the things that really removes the feeling of immersion with the vehicles is the lack of certain sound effects like screeching wheels when you fishtail in a hard turn, or the sound of the suspension bottoming out. It shouldn't be too hard to implement, and would definitely improve the feel of the game.

It seems like a cpu issue for the forests. I have a quad core processor and if i load Armed Assault, which has little to no multi-core support, Linda(the fauna generator) kills my frame rate. In Arma 2, which has multi-core support, my frame rate holds steady. The problem with the Proper vegetation mod is that it is hideous compared to the Stock vegetation, because it replaces the procedurally generated trees and bushes with set models, which is good for performance but ruins one of the prettiest aspects of the game.

Bohemia Interactive's future ARMA 3!
Manareth replied to MulleDK19's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Personally one of my favorite things about BIS is that they try to make as many of their tools that they use to make their games in house. It is quite a feat when you think about it, but of course there is always room for improvement. I think the idea of implementing the ability to call to c++ through the .sqf files is a great idea, because it opens up endless possibilities. -
If anybody has tried the newer beta patches they will know that the texture loading has come a LONG way since 1.04. If Arma 2 had gigantic textures to load this would be useful, but I don't want to install with 4 dvd's or a blu-ray disc in order to have enough disc space for that much texture data.

WARFARE (SuperPowers, Civil War) changed in the beta?
Manareth replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Just opened up 1.04 without the beta and tried, and the artillery still didn't work. I remember it working, but like Helmut I haven't played warfare since an older version. Unfortunately I only have a Steam copy so I can't revert to an older patch to see where it broke. -

Also the support options in Warfare, like artillery, seem to not work anymore.
