CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
[GLT] Legislator replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
What exactly was the target audience? The Cold War Crisis players? -
Dude, it has been mentioned hundreds of times. The guys creating on the DLC are not the same guys working on the patches, fixes and improvements. So instead of kicking them out because Arrowhead is finished they got new projects.

GLT FLC (FLIR & Countermeasures) (requires A2 + AO content)
[GLT] Legislator replied to [GLT] Legislator's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hmm I need to discuss this with my team first because I'm not the only one who signs addons with this key. Besides, one day the road will lead to an GLT mod all inclusive package having lots of missions using and required the content. But I can understand the problem you're facing. -

Sorry, I couldn't resist but .... :p I call it "The Facepalm Dance". Those are my feelings towards the Red River ... the more I read this name, the more I'm thinking of menstruation. -

And Blizzard Interactive that might be added. It's amazing that they released an official patch for Diablo 2 even after 10 years! It's all about support in the software industry. I can't imagine the ArmA series without the long term support. Most people weren't here anymore I guess, including myself. I can't imagine the Bohemia Saga being a corridor or arena-type first person shooter. After 10 years spending time with the B. Saga I wouldn't get along anyway with other shooters :p -

I guess that's one of the greatest **** I've ever heard of. And it's a dangerous double-moral too. So war is "good" if you don't kill americans, at least that's the understanding I get from the CM point of view. As if there's something good in war at all  Guess they can't relate between reality and gaming realities. Hell, it's a game. If you kill a soldier ingame it has nothing to do with political, social or ethnic backgrounds. It's just a matter of ingame survival. I guess they just don't want to invest more ressources in the mp mode. Running out of money maybe? It reminds me to the release of C&C Generals as well when the 3rd Iraq War started. The game had been banned in germany until the game had been refit to enjoy the "publicity". The funny thing was, in Red Alert 2 you could destroy the WTC and nobody cared about that. Double-moral again. It's always happening again. -

Quoting from pcgames.de: "We plan to go into a new direction with the series without scaring off Operation Flashpoint veterans." Mr. Lenton doesn't get it, doesn't he? 4 player coop mode ... again. How could any clan/squad could play this mess? US Marines and Chinese Army are going to be recycled. They loved to hate it. Seriously ... they should stop using the title Operation Flashpoint for that game and nobody would complain. Maybe we should donate and buy the name back :p So BIS could create Cold War Crisis II - The Revenge of the Dentist :D -
@Darkhorse 1-6: True, that's actually a very important point. I'd like to support BIS by buying the DLC having more of BIS of the next X years. That doesn't mean I'm blind buying everything :p At the end I need to create missions with it so it has to fit together somehow. @ruebe: You're right, that would make more sense. Well maybe we're getting a new island including new animals, civilians and cars and a mini campaign having already published BIS units.
-
I hope this thread is not just for discussing only but BI having an eye on it and making a list that helps them to decide which things to create for DLC. The following points are not meant to be discussed. I'm fully aware that everyone has it's own favourites. Here's what I'd like to have in the A2/OA series: - the whole ArmA I + Queens Gambit completly updated to technical A2/AO standards (although this would be more an idea for a standalone package than for DLC) / I'm fully aware of the CAA1 mod but I'm just saying I'd like to pay for it if BIS is trying to recreate it) - Takistani National Army (The re-established royal powers of Takistan having a mixture of western and eastern equipment). I could imagine a small campaign about the planned assassination of the newly formed government in Takistan. - More landscape parts of the Chernarus or Takistan. As we've seen on several maps the combat zones delivered with A2/OA are just small parts. I'm sure it's possible to stick into the established design and offering new exciting locations. - Iraqi Army (Saddam era / modern era). Maybe having a small campaign of Operation Desert Storm or Operation Iraqi Freedom from Iraqi point of view. I'm sure it'll be interesting to create a story around an army who will actually lose a campaign. It would be something really new and a nice challenge. - Animal Package having at least 20 different new animals included. I know it's not important  But sometimes it's the small parts that make things interesting. Coming along with an update of the animal module it would be a good extension to the game series. But the more exotic the animals become, the more important is the adjustment of the animal module. I'm sure nobody wants elephants or giraffe in the middle of a city in Chernarus. I'm not talking about blacklisting areas but excluding specific animal types which isn't possible right now as far as I know. - Civilian Car Package having at least 10 different civilian cars + different variations. I'm not talking about reskins of already avaible vehicles. I'm more thinking of exotic vehicles like a hearse, a fire brigade truck, construction vehicles. I'm fine with it if some of them are just reskins as Ural-4320 and KAMAZ-4310 trucks are used in different scales. There's only one requirement I'd like to have: they must fit into the ArmA worlds extending the missions in an organic way. - More Editor Modules. The idea of the modules is brilliant - as long as they work and they are documented, but that's another story. Making mission editing easier for everyone should be a high goal as it could convice newcommers into staying within the game series. Placing stuff around and creating fancy scenarios is the most adicting part of the game series from my point of view. Just do a brainstorming and ask yourself what could be made easier?! There are hundreds of possible script solutions, however especially newcommers often are afraid to stick into them, no matter how good or bad they're documented. Well, I'm no newcommer :o But I approve everything that makes missiong editing faster and easier for everyone - just taking the new town construction module of OA as an example, or the weather modules. Some things I might add. The price of each package must fit to the content. That's the most important part I guess. Taking other games as an example, I'm not willing to pay 5 € for a simple weapon or outfit, or even a single tank. 5 € for a minor addon package is ok I guess (having mostly reskins and no new models at all). 10 € for a huge package including new models, a lot of variations, weapons, objects, missions is fair. 5 € - 15 € for a new island / combat zone depending on the size. I'm not willing to pay 10 € for an island like Utes, but Chernarus-size (including details in the landscape) on the other hand would be worth 10-15 €. Basicly the DLC must convice me not to use free community made alternatives or I'm out. What advantages do I get? How far will the DLC supported afterwards? How will it fit into the future developement of the game? How can an "I must buy this at all costs!"-feeling be achieved without milking the community dry and becomming greedy.

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

@Damu: Is there any chance we will be able to buy the DLC from places like Amazon shortly after releases? I'm asking because I don't have a sprocket or a steam account. -

I bet the publishers were a major part why the ArmA series had a bad start each time BIS released a game (excluding Operation Arrowhead as a positive example ;) ). Just imagine "It's judgement day for the golden disc, now deliver us (the publisher) something we can sell even it's unfinished - we don't care". As for CM beeing publisher and developer in one person it should make things better - in theory. Why didn't they deliver what they showed us in the first rendering videos? It was awesome so to say. The final product was a joke to everyone who admired/admires the Cold War Crisis campaign of the original Operation Flashpoint and although I'm not actively playing CWC anymore I still admire the depth of the game, the basics, the road as it began to develop into what we got now. Ever heard of the Outerra Project? I'm getting very very wet pants if I imagine ArmA-like missions included in something like this new virtual world. But that's another story :o Edit: By the way ... I've spotted FPDR today in the game section of an electronic market - 45 € :p You should have seen my face in that moment. I was frozen to shock state. -

This maybe allowing 120 fps - enough power will be left for the new feature - up to 120 AI soldiers at the same time  And this time they will fire and hit! Nah seriously, anyone thinks they'll show new render videos this time that'll be considered ingame footage? Somehow I think this time we'll have US Army and Insurgents in FPDR II. I just don't know how it came into my mind :D Must be a random thought sticking in my head just like an arrow. -

Has anyone counted the amount of facepalm smilies in this thread? :) FPDR <-- Now I'm with facepalm :D Guess I missed a nice game :o -
While creating an mission having USMC force recons I noticed that they weren't able to carry the backpacks included in Operation Arrowhead. I was not satisfied with this situation so I had a look at the config values. Now here it is: the ability to use the Operation Arrowhead backpacks for every ArmA II unit! Please be aware that this mod doesn't add any new backpacks to certain units. It only adds a config value to the infantry baseclass so the units which are NOT included in Operation Arrowhead will have the ability to pick up and use the backpacks. Known issues: - the backpacks don't appear on the back of the old units Requirements: - ArmA II - ArmA II Operation Arrowhead Sadly the old models aren't capable of showing the backpacks, but of course they appear in the inventory. Because of this config fix other community made soldiers will get the additional config value too. I've tested it with several other addons. PvP server admins should take of allowing / disallowing this addon because of the additional inventory space it may be considered cheating in matches. Coop players have less to worry :) If you want to see this mod working, go to the editor, place a non-Arrowhead unit (USMC soldier for example) and several backpacks of Arrowhead. You will notice that you can add them to your inventory. It works with male civilians too! Sorry girls, but female inventories aren't capable of using the backpacks :p GLT OPA Backpacks4All 1.0 - Download @megaupload.com GLT OPA Backpacks4All 1.0 - Download @armedassault.info GLT OPA Backpacks4All 1.0 - Download @armaholic.com GLT OPA Backpacks4All 1.0 - Download @arma2base.de Thanks to anyone who wants to host it :)

Do you want upgraded Arma 2 content?
[GLT] Legislator replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
True ... the whole ArmA I upgraded to Arrowhead-standards would be very cool. Sadly I don't think that's gonna happen in the near future, even maybe as DLC. It's too much work and there's plenty of more important stuff to fix / develop first. But if BIS is going to keep the backward compatibility with new standalone addons I hope they're going officially to recreate the good Cold War Crisis and the Sahrani Conflict. -
ARMA 2 (OA) : DLC discussion thread
[GLT] Legislator replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Well ... what if BIS sells ... let's say 100.000 DLC downloads? And what if ... well, there'll only be 10 servers using missions having DLC content? Would that be so bad? Let's face it ... most public servers are running the same missions all over again so it might be easy to filter servers without DLC. I'm sure BIS will take of a proper filter function so it'll be up to the player to hide servers running DLC. I don't think vanilla A2/AO servers or ace2 servers will disappear the moment DLC got released. Private servers are different anyway as they usually got their core players. On ther other hand I can image map packages made by the community tributing only the DLC content. -

Ambient Combat Module
[GLT] Legislator replied to mechastalin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Yeah there might really be something wrong with the ACM module in Arrowhead. As for the other 2 animation warnings. Guess nobody but BIS can fix that. That's their construction place. Both animations refer to the soldier sitting inside the UAZ, dead or alive. -
Ambient Combat Module
[GLT] Legislator replied to mechastalin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Sorry, but I can't spot the error :( It's but using my own code I can hardly spawn any enemies with the ACM module ... even using every OA faction and intensity 1 I got only a few troops. All I can say is ... try to leave the removeGroupClassesFunc part and see if it works. Basicly rip every setting apart until you find the error. -
Do you want upgraded Arma 2 content?
[GLT] Legislator replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I'd like to see the features mentioned in the 1st post as free DLC for everyone who owns Operation Arrowhead. Free, because those are basic features IMHO. However the list should be extended to working BTR-90 interior ... just for comparison the following pictures (left BTR-60 of Arrowhead, right BTR-90 of A2). The BTR-90 is useless! Right now A2 content in Arrowhead feels incomplete and sometimes out of place. -

Ambient Combat Module

Ambient Combat Module
[GLT] Legislator replied to mechastalin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Not according to the code within the module. BIS factions are hardcoded I'm afraid. For spawning civilians use the Civilian Ambient Module instead.
