    P:UKF Challenger 2.

I've just been having a fiddle, and I reckon the bailing problem is a result of the tracks being very easily damaged (i.e. two mags of 5.56 will render one useless). Once one goes, the crew go "fuck, we're immobile" and dive out, even though the turret and hull are still tip-top.
  2. I'm made up with the new beta patches, especially with the window toggle. Also, the hand position/reload fix cheered me up no end. I know it's a minor fix for a minor bug, but I like that BIS are paying attention to the little things too.
  3. Nice, looking good. The only problem is that Prydain's probably going to demand that you leave the NVG mount in that rather fetching shade of electric pink :D
  4. Mega work Orson, as always.

    Need new Tank-Game

    Probably a T54/55.
  6. Just looks like faded temperate DPM.
  7. Pistolfied's tracer addon does/can be set up to do that, so it's definitely possible.
  8. Didn't make a bit of difference for me.

    INKO Disposable

    Mega update, nice one!

Thank you, B.I.S.; Sign if you agree.

BIS already know deep down that I love them and want to have their manbabies. I mean, er, signed.

    Bayonet/knife poll

The bayonet isn't intended as a weapon of last resort though. It's there to be used during an assault on an enemy position, not just when you haven't got any rounds left.
  12. BIS announce that they're going to release an expansion pack, and very few details. People read those few details and somehow come to the conclusion that BIS are going to break into their house and take a dump in their kitchen sink while they're out. There's some really special people in this community, I'll tell you that much.
  13. Just a quick update on what's been going on in VCB lately. Games Since moving over to ArmA 2, we've played two full-length (no less than two hours) missions a week without fail, with the exception of one Sunday which was scrubbed due to technical problems. Turnouts have been fantastic; when we started having a second game night, we thought they'd be very small-scale compared to Sunday's games. Now, it's become very clear that not having enough people to do anything interesting is the least of our worries, with pretty much every mission having around thirty guys turning up. As a result, we've moved on from basic fighting patrols and the like to full-on platoon attacks, which is obviously a lot more interesting than a dozen blokes trying to knock over a single enemy position. Some recent games that proved memorable included: A convoy mission, in which we escorted a truck carrying medical supplies to a series of villages. On the way, we dealt with ambushes and IEDs, before being re-tasked to dismount and destroy a target of opportunity in the next valley. A platoon attack, which had us assaulting an enemy AAA position, destroying their guns and capturing their radar system after almost a solid hour of close-in fighting. Another platoon attack, this time with the enemy being co-ordinated by one of our members. The result was two arse-clenchingly tense hours of FIWAF, bumping and being bumped by enemy patrols, with the mission finally culminating in a last-ditch advance on the objective. Training We've been running at least one training session a week, focussing mainly on platoon battle drills. However, we have covered some subjects that are more out of the ordinary, such as beach assaults. Footage of that particular bloodbath can be found on our forums in the Game Photography & Discussion thread. In the weeks to come, we intend to cover ambushes, OBUA, and run a section on section exercise, which all promise to be both educational and gratuitously violent. Expansion The number and quality of applicants we've had in the past few months surpassed our expectations, and we now have almost seventy members on the books. As a result we intend to open a third rifle section in the near future, and expand the Fire Support Group to eight men. Also, we are considering opening new wings, opening new possibilities up both in terms for roles and missions. We're still recruiting as always, so if you fancy some slick platoon-sized ops and lashings of MFV, pop over to our forums and post an application.
  14. The draw distance has been my only major issue with ArmA 2, so I was dead chuffed when I stumble across this. Works fairly well, no discernable performance hit either. Only thing I noticed was that trees don't seem to draw as far out as the buildings do.
  15. Rather unexpected, but a pleasant surprise all the same. I really hope that it's more Resistance than Queen's Gambit though.

    Bayonet/knife poll

Knives, no. Bayonets and entrenching tools, certainly. Assaulting and clearing enemy positions would be much less of a pain in the arse with a bit of Sheffield strapped to the end of your rifle, not to mention a bazillion times more awesome.
  17. That LAV looks absolutely sexual.

    1.03 Performance

My frames don't seem to be any higher, but seem to be a little more consistent (although I might be imagining this). However, I get pauses of one or two seconds every now and then, regardless of what's happening on the screen. They seem to be every minute and a half or so. Weird thing is, this only started today, last night when I tested it, it ran perfectly.

A way to remove profanity II

My parents swore in front of me and my sister all the time when I was a kid, so swearing was never a taboo in our house. They just told us not to, because only grown-ups were allowed to swear, so we didn't until we were older. They also smoked, but told us not to because it was stupid, and so we didn't do that either. As long as a kid understands right from wrong, any examples you set don't neccessarily have to be good ones.

A way to remove profanity II

I know it's been said umpteen times, but I really don't understand the mentality of people who're playing a game which is pretty much based around killing human beings, but are gravely offended by someone saying "shit" or "fuck." That's like being angry at an arsonist because he didn't have any trousers on when he set fire to someone's dog. Also, I disagree with the whole "few votes on a forum = thousands of supporters who haven't spoken up" idea. It's possible that this is the case, but it's also possible that those who have voiced their opinion are a vocal minority, and the majority of people disagree. You can't base any sort of decision on supposition, you have to rely on what you know. For example, you wouldn't elect a political party into power that had fewer votes because you think everyone likes them more. At the end of the day, more people voted for Party A, and even if most people prefer Party B, they didn't make themselves heard and were therefore totally irrelevant to the outcome. Anyway, back on topic, I reckon if anything ArmA 2 needs more swearing. Ideally, I would like for there to be a key that would make my guy let fly a constant stream of abuse and profanity as long as it's held down. It could be done like the rest of the speech, in that it's put together out of loads of individual words and phrases. Perhaps it could also be linked into the command system, so if I select the second man in my group and press the swearing key, I could tell him what a useless cretin he is, suggest that his mother was a lady of negotiable affection, and that I am going to lodge my footwear in his colon unless he promptly returns to his position within the formation.
  21. If I'm not very much mistaken, MILAN's no longer used. Besides, the nearest British equivalent to the SMAW is the ILAW/AT4, which the exact same thing as the M136.

    No disc required to play

BIS have traditionally removed the disc requirement with later patches, so I imagine that'll happen with ArmA 2 at some point in the future. At least, I hope so.
  23. I prefer the M1014, but only because there aren't any bayonets in ArmA 2. If you can't smell their breath, you're too far away.
  24. They're looking fairly gucci mate, keep it up.
