EDIT: I found a little camp about 950m away from the objective on a mountain next to the village. I've leveled the tents, barraged it with some 70mm rockets, and set the ammo crates alight. I also shot down one Mi-24 and one Mi-8 aircraft. Still no "Good job!" message. :( 1. What about snipers? Do they need the + tfor_commanders suffix for the air support to be transferred to the commander as well? 2. Just curious, but does the commander line need to be on the top afterwards? 3. Is there a way to allow the commander to recruit any soldier the others can (pilot, crewman, etc)? It's annoying flying an Apache but with the inability to have a gunner. 4. How do you call in supply drops? 5. Oh I almost forgot: What are the waypoints in the server parameter "Waypoints and FOBs)? Thanks for the speedy reply. :)

Rolling when prone - how, if at all?
JuggernautOfWar replied to SeaVee's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Flattening out grass (rolling) does have a serious impact on stamina though. Makes you all wobbly and shaky. I find I use rolling quite often in urban environments for getting into and out of cover quickly. You also always roll the same distance, which is useful for yankee targeting purposes. -
No distant muzzle flashes in OA?
JuggernautOfWar replied to maturin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I can attest to this. Short, bright bursts of light lose their power on the eye over distance quite dramatically. This is why ATC towers and lighthouses use a rotating light rather than a strobing light. You will however see the light reflected on the surroundings of the flash. This means you wont be able to pinpoint the exact position of the flash, in this case the shooter. Because of this, marksmen do not use suppressors unless in a covert op. If an enemy sees a muzzle flash from a marksmen in hiding he'll see the surrounding area light up then hear the shot, but will still be unable to determine the shooters position. Suppressors would only decrease muzzle velocity, not gaining anything but a quieter shot. Either way, you're going to get scouted. EDIT: Oh and due to aforementioned engine limitations you still will not be able to see the surrounding light of the flash. If there is no flash (light source), then there can't be surrounding light. -
Hey Bon, I just got a task "Investigate Jilavur" and I can't seem to figure out what I'm supposed to do. I've gone into and cleared every building and killed every enemy in the area yet the task never updates, I'm still supposed to investigate the village. This is getting a bit frustrating. :confused_o: Would it be at all possible to include a version for single player where you can play as a commander and use any vehicle? When my friends (many in different countries) are offline I'd love to still be able to succeed at this mission. Oh and I'm voting (voted) for your mission on the Community Awards right after I type this up. :p

J.S.R.S. 1.5
JuggernautOfWar replied to LordJarhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Are you guys sure this sound mod is causing these issues of disappearing loadouts and building options? I don't think I have any of these issues, but then I wouldn't know if I did would I (cuz things are disappearing)? -
Yeah I never have vsync turned on. I force it off in every game except those that run Unreal3 engine because that's the only engine that tears for me. Dunno why.

I've been getting a laggy or skippy cursor in the menus ever since OA came out. It happens in every menu (main, gear, pause, etc) most of the time. Never did this in ArmA II. It's very annoying trying to manage my gear and my cursor keeps skipping around causing me to drop my weapon or something. Note this never happens within the 3D world with my crosshairs. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

They most certainly do not. This is another thing I hate about the games flight. Also this goes back to what OpticalSnare said about aircraft "flying by wire", so to speak. The game automatically ups your throttle/collective when you nose up so you don't stall as easily in planes. Sadly this is carried over to helicopters in a very poorly done fasion. I think under the difficulty options there should be a toggle to enable/disable automatic flight controls such as automatic throttling and rudder adjustment. Also the control for helicopters and planes are the exact same in this game. They handle completely differently, and have completely different controls in real life, so I believe they should in a so-called "simulator" such as this. Though I am more picky than most when it comes to aircraft so I doubt anything will change.

J.S.R.S. 1.5
JuggernautOfWar replied to LordJarhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I feel the same way my friend. Any chance you could take another look at that sound Jarhead? -
In my nVidia Control Panel I changed "Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames" back to the default three from what I had set it to, eight. It seems the mouse lag/jump has disappeared and my input from mouse and keyboard in-game in real time is significantly improved. I can now however notice when the frame rate occasionally dips to around 20. I haven't played with it much though, so it may still be there (was never a constant problem).

Ugh but it's (says in whiny voice) Miiicrosoooft! Besides, I have a PS3 right next to my computer, so if I were to just adapt that to the PC that'd be awesome. Never heard of anybody doing that though.

I've got the most recent beta. I've had this ever since OA was released. Computer specs are fine as I get 30+ FPS at all times with max settings, 5K view distance.

What exactly do you mean by this? Yes I know, I'm a pilot myself. This game has horrendous representations of real life flight envelopes though. I mean if planes couldn't turn with their rudders at their targeted speed there would be no point to even put em on the aircraft. For example the cruising speed for a Harrier II is transonic in real life, but in game you can't even get up to that speed if you're flying like a bat out of hell, with the wind, in the stratosphere. Even with these remarkably slow speeds for a jet aircraft you cannot control yaw with rudders in the slightest, the aircraft just dog tracks.

JuggernautOfWar replied to LordJarhead's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Choppers are way too quiet for me as well. Especially the British choppers like the Merlin and AH1. -
So why can't I use rockets as a pilot? It seems every weapon system on the aircraft is given to the gunner AKA no simultaneous attacks (rockets and gun for example). Every aircraft I know of, rotary and fixed wing alike, have rocket pods at the pilots control (and gunner if need be). The Mi-24D even has crosshairs for the pilot, but no weapons. Is this a bug or a feature to promote team play?

Observation about Choppers

Works for me just fine. It's not at 100+ exactly, but it still works. -
Wow I found a lot of really useful stuff there. Thanks a bunch!

Is the MissileBox actually a requirement for the F-16 and Su-34? How do I even use it? -

So that brings me to 3. What's different about the "New Sonic Cracks" I can download? It's not listed as a numbered DLC. Also why is the #3 DLC called "competitive"? What's competitive about it? I'm sorry for the non sequitur questions, but I'm just a bit lost. So this #3 DLC only changes some handheld weapons right, nothing else? -
That is "turn" in the control settings. I fly all the time, but sadly I have no room/money for a joystick.

I've got some questions here for ya LordJarhead. 1: Does the mod version 1.2 include sounds for the BAF DLC? 2: What in the world is this? "ACCN - Authentic Competition DLC Pack #3" 3: What's different about your "New Sonic Cracks" download? -
Using backpacks/rucksacks
JuggernautOfWar replied to JuggernautOfWar's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I know in the BAF mission "Tank Hunters" you can pick up the backpacks your team members are carrying. -
Asymmetric or conventional warfare?

BIS should look at this poll and decide to make a DLC for the OPFOR side.
