Please try the ArmA2.exe with switch -server and report back.

There is no performance hit that I am aware of.

Try running the ArmA2.exe in dedicated server mode by launching ArmA2.exe with the -server switch and see if you get better stability. You could also add the -netlog switch if you like.

Arma2 dedicated server howto
[kh]jman replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
yes that what I just said  Read the comments in the server.cfg in my server guide. -
-netlog only works if you use ARMA2's Patch 1.02 Updated (Build 58134) executable and run it with the -server switch. The drawback of using the ArmA2.exe as a dedicated server however is that if you are using the 505 install it will require the DVD to be inserted into the server's drive on launch. At the moment the 1.02b dedicated server exe does not support the -netlog command. It is created in the ArmA2 root directory. You should get something like the following written to it on successful launch 0.000: NetLogger: start - Fri Jul 03 13:31:36 2009 0.000: Clk(2400020000) 7.834: ArmA2 version: 1.02 7.891: 13:31:43 Dedicated host created. 7.894: Fac:start(1.1,2.2,'WinSock 2.0','Running',32767,65467) 8.562: Par: 1.1,65535,1490,90,3,400000,2,4000,600,2000000,400,0,6000000,1.040,1000.0,0.980,3000000,3000000,65536 8.562: Par: 2.50,150000.0,400,15,0.1500,0.1000,0.0500,0.0200,2.20,30000.0,1.80,20000.0,1.40,10000.0,1.10,3000.0,1.40,1.20 8.562: Par: [0.900,20.0] [0.980,10.0] [1.000,0.0] [1.020,20.0] [1.100,40.0] [1.300,50.0] 8.580: Fac:cp(2304,65507,65535,8192) 8.580: Fac:cp(1,2,65467,'MSAFD Tcpip [uDP/IP]') 8.594: Ch(0):open(192.168.1.69:2304 <-> 255.255.255.255:0) 8.595: Pe(0):succ(192.168.1.69:2304) 8.595: Pe(0):list(2304) 8.639: Fac:cp(2302,65507,65535,8192) 8.640: Fac:cp(1,2,65467,'MSAFD Tcpip [uDP/IP]') 8.641: Ch(1):open(192.168.1.69:2302 <-> 255.255.255.255:0) 8.641: Pe(1):succ(192.168.1.69:2302) 8.641: Pe(1):srv 8.641: Pe(1):list(2302) 8.641: Pe(1):srv(2302,'-=Kellys Heroes=- Jman's Test Server',623191333) 8.849: Pe(0):cli 8.851: 13:31:44 Host identity created.

Sorry but eenter's information is incorrect for the mission syntax, his example is for ArmA1, ArmA2's has changed. server.cfg: /* Specifies the mission rotation and related difficulty settings. leave blank i.e class Missions {}; to enable player's selection from mission list & difficulty settings (voted on if no admin logged in) */ class Missions { class Mission_01 // name for the mission, can be anything { template = mymission.Chernarus; // omit the .pbo suffix /* difficulty: recruit, regular, veteran & expert as specified in *.Arma2profile */ difficulty = "regular"; /* The following options are seen in the lobby of a multiplayer game. These options can be useful for setting time limits and score limits in such games as Capture the Flag and Death Matches. Other popular uses include accelerate time, setting the mission difficulty or switching the intro on/off. */ param1 = param2 = }; class Mission_02 { template = anothermission.Chernarus; difficulty = "veteran"; param1 = param2 = }; }; Refer to my guide for further information. As far as setting the number of targets and time of day the params must be defined in the mission description.ext before they will be interpreted from the server.cfg-> class Missions

Arma2 dedicated server howto
[kh]jman replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Just launch the demo executable with the -server switch. What exactly is the message that you get when you try to install the game on win2003 web edition? I've not come across the game not installing on any of the latest windows OS's -
Wndows 7, How do I get the game to play in full screen mode?
[kh]jman replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Make sure you are not running -window in the startup line. Try editing your ArmA2.cfg (in C:\Documents and Settings\[ProfileName]\My Documents\ArmA 2\ Try setting the following: Resolution_W=1680; Resolution_H=1050; Render_W=1680; Render_H=1050; I see your monitor is native 16:10 so here's a handy reference I made some time ago ;) You should get better frame rate with any of these below 1920x1200 [link] -

It doesn't. There is no save facility in a dedicated server hosted game. -
Arma2 dedicated server howto
[kh]jman replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
host identity created indictates that the dedicated server is loaded. If thats in the .RPT file and the server is functioning as you intend then you may ignore those errors. Most .RPT entries are just warnings regarding the current mission scripts or missing syntax. I've seen a similar entry when running Domination. -
This mod already fixes what you are describing.

Arma2 dedicated server howto
[kh]jman replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
No you don't the server will still show up as 'waiting', I've updated the tutorial today and added more in depth comments to the example configs. Hopefully that might help. -
Well, 3 actually on the first page of swec if you want to be pedantic about it ;) + there are over 1000 other servers in the list and some will be coops that don't play Domination or Evo. We had a policy back in ArmA of an Evolution free server. Our ArmA2 server still is. I agree that Evo and Domination is over played but not all public servers have strong communites around them to encourage map makers. Only player's positive support will improve that. :)
-
Answered here You can also download Xeno's Domination series from Armaholics to get you started. To make your own MPmissions use ArmA2's bult in editor. It requires quite a bit of learning though but there are plenty of forums that discuss mission making. Try Google.
-
Yes as easty says. Just to add, you have to be on the gameserver, connected and in-game. There is no remote console application for ArmA2 (just as there wasn't in ArmA) Once you have done a #login password do a #missions that will bring up the mpmission list
-
Well if you leave the following empty is the server.cfg... class Missions { class Mission_01 // name for the mission, can be anything { template = mymission.Chernarus; // omit the .pbo suffix difficulty = "Regular"; // difficulty: Recruit,Regular,Veteran,Expert as specified in *.Arma2profile }; class Mission_02 { template = anothermission.Chernarus; difficulty = "Veteran"; }; }; i.e. class Missions {}; The first person to connect to the server will be presented with the server's mpmissions list. They/and/or players can then vote for which map they would like to play. If you login as admin the map you select is chosen regardless. Leaving it as in the first example will put it on rotation.
-
Hi, with that server, if you use my example ArmA2.cfg (Quad Core Xeon on a 100Mbit connection) that should be about the right starting point. :)
-
I think you will find that there are quite a few coop servers that don't play Domination and Evo. The point he was trying to make does seem valid to me. If people are serious at finding good servers and clans there is a whole forum section devoted to it. ;)

Well it's alive [link] I could'nt tell you much else without you posting your configs together with your server specification and network details...

Arma2 dedicated server howto
[kh]jman replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Copying the ArmA2 install directory is fine infact our private ArmA2 server was setup the same way. You may not see the server in the multiplayer list since your client and server are inside the same local area network. If this is the case it's possible your client is reading the server's netbios name - just a theoretical guess that is though. Can others outside your network see it? Can you give me the ip and port please? It is also possible that if the server is not in a proper server farm (and I don't know if it is) and you are hosting it via your home ISP that they maybe blocking certain ports on the gateway to stop abuse of the service. Check with your ISP. -

[kh]jman replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
@MookieBlack 1. Just join a multiplayer server, join the mission and let it download to your client. Quit out of ArmA2 and copy it out of your client's multiplayer mission cache. Copy it to the server's ArmA2\MPMissions folder and add a reference to it in your server.cfg (see my online guide for more info). 2. If your getting data written to the .rpt file but the mission is still functioning as intended ignore it, alot are just warnings and do not effect gameplay. @jammymutt Can you post your startup line please? -
