Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION
Jex =TE= replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Can we get rid of the ridiculous amount of folders Arma creates all over your f**king computer making it the most ridiculous system to try and find ur own f**king missions? Does it really require that you infest my PC with a crap load of empty folders?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C:\Users\YOURUSERFOLDER\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\MPMissions Really?? -
Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION

Can we get things fixed from OFP like; - Things sounding too close - Clunky animations that don't seamlessly integrate with how a normal body functions (i.e. in Arma 2 if I lower my weapon I stop for an instant whislt i'm walking - Changing weapons that get stuck going through cycles. Weapons getting stuck in buildings? wtf! still? make the damn model lift the weapon out of the way) - clunky horrible movement - nothing feels fluid I can't believe I'm still seeing this crap in Arma 2 when this has been present since OFP and never addressed! it's 12 years guys this is no excuse -
Hi, Did a search but couldn't find anything. We're trying to run a ded server. We made server.cfg and basic.cfg using the examples BIS give in their wiki. Run server.exe and the tick boxes all tick up then generic windows crash report. Tried DL dedicated server from armaholic (Armed Assault Dedicated Server Tool by Gareth Clough) and same thing when running that, windows generic crash. However with the "beta" box checked it runs fine but we don't can't run that on our machines. Any ideas? Thanks, J.

Thanks. We are trying without the Beta, that's when it crashes. I looked at the arma_server.rpt and it listed the mod "CA" so I added that to the mods using the server tool and now it gets a little further, saying "dedicated host created" before the generic MS crash. here's the log

considering pilots have HUD's that show waypoints, this actually works great. For foot soldiers its called GPS ;)

Brilliant work but I agree with an above poster, make the middle units look to the flank - maybe even get the first guy to kneel so the one behind him can shoot over his head?

I found this... Minimum Range Top Attack: 164 yd (150 m) Direct Attack: 71 yd (65 m) From here... http://www.inetres.com/gp/military/infantry/antiarmor/Javelin.html

Since recent posts are spouting just how unpopular A2 is because it doesn't get good figures on XFIRE - i wonder how many here use it. I don't as it goes.

Pingcheck with autokick function.
Jex =TE= replied to Kochleffel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I see no problem whatsoever with people running servers how they want. But we need more server tools than just ping kick. -
Something we asked for in Arma 1 I believe - Oh how it would be nice to have this implemented...

Is it just me or is it about time that games slow the rate in which you can turn? There is no way in RL that your body will ever move that quickly doing 2860 degree turns in a second. Also if I'm sprinting I cannot instantly turn 90 degrees from my direction of travel. This "twitch" ability needs to go. And no I'm not really up on the idea of the final death cam thing - just have a decent anti cheat system.

Female Soldier [Feature request to BIS]
Jex =TE= replied to rene.obermann's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
After reading this thread no wonder women don't play PC games :( -
For sounds play vietcong. Some of the best sounds I've ever heard in a game and the rain sounds are just brilliant.

Nice job there FreeFire. Now I know what an RPG-7VR is! Thanks :)

OK enough already!! :p

Operation Arrowhead : no gun sway in crouched position
Jex =TE= replied to MQ-9 Reaper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I don't have an issue for visual aids in games either. They let you know what your body would tell you anyway. -
A friend of mine and I were discussing monitors and came to the conclusion that the 16:9 format is in a way too small. What we were after is more vertical height but not width. E.g. if I want more vertical height to my screen, the width increases but I think there is a point that the screen becomes to wide for you to see the edges - in other words you have to divert your eyes to the sides to see stuff. The fix to the obove would be to move the screen further away but that kind of defeats the purpose. So the 16:10 ratio give almost 200 more pixels in the vertial whilst not gaining in width. This to me sound more optimal for gaming and not too "letterbox". It also happens to be the size of 2x standard US letter pages side by side so presumably we'll see more of these in the future. This size seems to fit better with what I want as a screen and I'm hoping that game devs will support it (arma does :)). So what about people here - is this common knowledge to you? Do you think my opinion has merit or are you happy 16:9. I'd like to hear what people think to gauge this.

Auto-targeting in planes and vehicles
Jex =TE= replied to SFJackBauer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Agreed. Get rid of tab-lock-fire and the magic radar. -
OK face camo isn't poisonous for a start. I never experienced any eye irritation and never washed my mouth after eating (wtf? lol). Either way the whole point of camo is to break up the image - these troopers are almost highlighting themselves. In RL as someone said this doesn't get used passed trained, However you don't need face camo when your with 100 other guys assaulting a postion. Smaller spec ops teams I would imagine would employ this because sitting in a bush with mr whitey face is a dead giveaway :)

Playing it or making missions? lol ;)

I was responding to your post 2 above mine. You don't have to move your whole body without track ir because you can use freelook so your point is still moot ;) ---------- Post added at 04:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:23 PM ---------- This should be how everybody looks if on patrol in enemy territory. You always look down the barrel, that way your always ready to fire. This is the realistic way of doing it.

Player should change his position while driving vehicles much slower
Jex =TE= replied to abel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I Agree. I'm not sure how it got missed in the first place. However it's easy to see in hindsight, but there are a million ideas to make things more realistic but we can't remember them all. This could just have been an oversight.
