OK, first of all, I've not done much of anything to the gasmasks as of yet. Secondly, the SRT units themselves are based on real-life SRT (Special Reaction Team) units, which are the U.S. Military's answer to a SWAT team, handling hostage situations etc on Military installations. Check out SpecialOperations.com for more information. The Desert/Woodland recon elements are not based on any particular unit or group. They are just a merging of many other units I've seen on various website and other addons. The reason the desert sniper looks the way it does is two-fold: a) it matches the other desert units b) different islands have different desert textures, Everon/Malden/Kolgujev and Desert Island are different to Nogova. Nogova is different to Tonal. Tonal is different to Trinity etc. I can't satisfy everyone. ...and good luck being able to see 7000m to hit anything Jinef.

I'll take all your comments into consideration, but right now I'm just trying to get everything working so I can take images of them, and get them advertised (to keep up my PR ) Ebud: Yes, the textures are a little mis-matched and infact do come from several sources (all with permission where possible, and credited). I'll work on the dirt effect in the coming week as well as the creasing/wrinkling of the clothes. Anyway, with the exception of a sound bug on the M16A4s, they're now finished with 12 versions in all (6 silenced, and 6 non-silenced). The other weapons I have included are also nearing completion of the tweaks etc. I'd expect to have a PRIVATE BETA ready within the next two weeks lasting for as long as needed (most likely another 2-3 weeks). So depending on the outcome of the BETA, expect a release sometime after that. Possibly early December (intime for Christmas

OK, I'll take all of your suggestions into consideration. I've taken many new imagesa of both the Woodland and Desert Recon units. The Woodland Recon images can be found here, where as the Desert Recon units can be found here. Despite the names of the Woodland folder, the appearance probably wont be final, as I may or may not incorporate suggestions made on this thread. Post your opinions and feedback. EDIT: I plan to make all Desert Recon vests the same as the one worn by this unit as its colouration goes better with the rest of the uniform. Please Note not all units are pictured, there are several more included in the pack, but I just didn't have the time to make images for them.

To answer your question, every M16A4 included will have a silenced counterpart. There are about 12 versions in total (6 silenced, and 6 non-silenced). I'm working on bringing you pictures of the Desert Units. I am reluctant to do so, as their appearance is not yet final, so changes are still being made.

By the way, in the event anyone is interested, the newest images were taken using 'Gummi's Camera Tool/Addon' on Tonal Island by BAS.

Currently, the M16A4s use JPG textures (I'm working on converting them to .PAA which have a higher quality compared to PAC and preserve alpha channels (transparencies) better). The units use PAA/PAC textures. I don't know if the vest is real, I use it mainly because of the camo fitting with the rest of the units' camo. EDIT: I've uploaded yet more images of the M16A4s which can be found here.
-
Indeed. I've uploaded several ingame shots of the M16A4s. They can be found, along with the other images of the rifles, here. I hope you like them.

Maybe for Pack Three, but as of.....now, the weapons for Pack Two have been finalised, and as I probably said before, it wont be that long until a public BETA (I don't plan to say how long so please don't ask) Cheers

In an ideal world, all of what you said would be possible but sadly, this isn't an ideal world and hardly any of what you said is possible. OFP currently (to my knowledge) has no command or other way of detecting if the optics are being used, and the detection of key presses is limited to the movement keys. Hybrid and I are working on a method of doing this, but it wont be perfect.
-
Yes, they will be JAM2 compliant. All weapons that JAM has magazines for, will include support for the initiative, but where JAM magazines are not available, you'll have to make do with ONLY SJB magazines and sounds. I've uploaded two new images of the M16A4 Rifles. The first image is of the other aimpoint M16A4. The second image is of the NVG scope M16A4. This, will not include an NVG optic, as sadly that is not possible within the current confines of the OFP engine, maybe in OFP2 Anyway, let me know what you think.

Yes, its just I've had other commitments (college etc) but it shouod be out soon (how soon I can't and won't say, but it wont be long until a public BETA).
-
Yes, I plan reflex and M203 versions. I'm glad you like the woodland recon units. There are far more variations besides those pictured available in the editor, but they are the same models, just carry different weapons etc. (as you said, its all about choice).
-
Glad to here it SGT. Stryker OK, I've uploaded images of what could be the "Final" versions of the woodland recon units (subject to my internal BETA testing of course). They can be found here (low quality, average file size) or here (high quality, rather large file size). Check them out at your discretion. EDIT: Please note I do know that the camera is facing backwards, I didn't notice it until I had taken and saved the screenshot, so its just gonna stay like that.

OK, I've uploaded the new M16A4 images, and moved the older ones into the same sub-directory here, tell me what you guys think, I appreciate your feedback.

I'll try my best. It would be good if I could work it so the wearer of the gasmask was "immune" to the gas too.
-
Indeed, as is the case with every weapon in OFP. If you shoot it, it will bleed. Try it out by killing a random soldier and then shoot his rifle, it'll display a red cloudlet. I'll consider the riot shield idea. I had begun one quite some time ago, but gave up on it, as it seemed it could not stop bullets...I'll see what I can do anyway. I'm about to add new images of the M16A4s, I'll post a link A.S.A.P.
-
I am very tempted to introduce an M16A3/4 Pack too. I've already begun on a few models as a side venture. I'll upload a few images in a short while. EDIT: I've only had time to take two images, both are of the 'basic' (no modifications e.g. ACOG Scope or aimpoint) M16A4 and can be found see later post Check them out and let me know what you think of them, and whether or not I should include them with the SRT/Recon units.

Thankyou for your input. The current gasmask is unlikely to make it into the final version (unless it is highly requested that it is kept). It will hopefully be replaced by a newer, better looking model as soon as I get around to making it. It has thus far only served as a test for the actions/script etc.

Fireteam McAndrew was the old name of a fireteam I was the leader of in an old squad. It was named after the woman in my avatar/signature images, who is called Nell McAndrew. Anyway, I've added another handgun to the list, but it'll remain a secret until release...or until I am pressured into releasing info. The Glocks still require a config.cpp, as does this new weapon, but I plan to start on them ASAP. Work has been reduced, due to the heightened interest in my SRT/Recon pack, which has caused me to resume work upon that. I'm still working on the Handgun Pack, just at a slightly reduced rate.
-
Anyway, I've decided to release a little more information on one of the "mystery units" added for v2.0 If you check out this image you'll see a compilation image of the Recon/SRT units wearing the new gasmask, which can be worn/taken off via the action menu. The image is about one week old, and several improvements have been made since, I will update the image in due course. In the mean time, post any feedback you may have here.

I have recently (within the past few hours) uploaded several screenshots of the M24 and M82A1 sniper rifles inaction. Check them out at http://sjb.ofprc.net/SRT2/Images/newimages/weapons/sniper/.
-
Yes, they should be compatible with the BAS choppers' dust scripts. I am still performing tests upon compatibility etc. but all being well they should wrok fine.
-
You'll be pleased to hear ruff the two officers are seperate units, so if you don't like the beret, you can just use the one with the cap instead, or vice-a-versa. Yes, they will all carry the updated Beretta 92Fs from the Handgun Pack. OK, I've uploaded several new images of the unitsweapons, most worthy of note is this image, which features a before and after contrast of the newly added animated goggles wearing unit. I am still fine tuning the positions and sizing so expect the final version to look a lot better. Check it out and tell me what you think.
-
I aim to please ruff  Anyway, if you keep checking http://sjb.ofprc.net/SRT2/Images/newimages/ every few days you should see some new images of the SRT/Recon units and the weapons they will be using in V2.0 of the pack. I think I posted a similar link before, but use this instead as its the base link, where you can access all sub-folders without clicking on several 'Parent Directory' links. Post any comments/feedback you may have.

Glad you like them TopCover. OK reconmercs, I'll work on your requests/comments, but I intend to keep the patch on the guy's chest, and will most likely remove the arm-band and the helmet symbol (I've also included a medic symbol on the 'buttpack' which isn't visible in the image).
