    Srt version 2.0 - goggles?

    In an effort to reduce file size, I am beginning to use 'HiddenSelections', so I can make several unit variations from one model, instead of having one model per unit variations, as has been the case with v1.0 and v1.1. (ALL of the Jungle recon units, come from the same model). I have had to make 4 models for Woodland/Desert recon though, as the Gasmask and NVG units, use varying animations that I do not wish to mess with by making one unit out of them. This has cut the Woodland/Desert unit models down from 12 each, to 4 each, and has really improved on filesize. I am in the process of including this idea in the SRT units themselves, which are the only units remaning that dont include this feature (in doing this they are looking 10x better than before).     Indeed, they also look good on an island called Hiiu, which has a really great Jungle Atmosphere - its almost 100% covered in long grass, the down-side of that being it is very CPU intensive. I plan to remove the arm-band from the Medic, I just haven't got around to it yet. More will be added as and when I take them.

    Close quarter battle

    Indeed, detection of other units by AI (and even the player character - reporting them to squad leadeR) is rather slow...its posible to have killed 3 or 4 enemy units before you "inform" your AI squad leader of their presence. AI is the one thing OFP needs major work on above all else. I'll be testing out the AI scripts asap.

    The M16A4s have been properly scaled to match that of the standard set by Earl/Suchey's Marine Assault Pack M16A4s. The M16A2s and M4A1s will soon follow suit...I guess thats what I get for scaling the originals to the BIS' M16 Â

    BETA testing is under-way and bugs are being fixed as and when they are discovered. I'm not going to set a release date just yet, as I'm notrious for never keeping to them. Just though I would let you know how things are going. One last thing, please no e-mails/PM/MSN-Messenger/Carrier Pigeon messages requesting to be a BETA tester...all slots are filled at this time.     The time is now right for me to reveal the new Recon Units which will accompany the Woodland, Desert and Winter Recon...Jungle Recon. Images of progress on the new units can be found here. The video I promised can be found here (2.2MB). The video shows off the random-face camo script which, when the action is accessed, randomly selects 1 of 15 camo textures, and over-lays it over the unit's normal face. Video features some nice music too. The Jungle Recon textures are thanks to SelectThis, Ebud and Bibmi (SEB) and their 'Nam Pack (v2.0), and the backpack is thanks to Shar of the Swedish Forces Pack (SFP). Animation by DeadMeat

    Yes, some of the vest textures are from CS, with permission and full credit where possible, and just credits where permission could not be obtained (due to lack of contact info or no reply). I've just recorded a video of the *secret* recon, more specifically, of a cool little feature they have...but I wont go into detail until I upload it (probably Sunday/Monday).

    Animation pack

    I know one animation that DEFINATELY needs to be edited/completely replaced...the 'Crouching with Pistol' animation. For those of you who have seen the film 'Sniper' near the end where Tom Berringer and Billy Zane are extracting by helicopter, Beringer crouches to take out a guy about to fire at Zane. I'll try to find a picture of it if I can so you/someone could hopefully have a go at making it. EDIT: I can't seem to find a suitable image at the moment, but if someone knows the pose I mean and has an image from the film or of a similar pose, post For those of you who haven't seen the film, and just incase no-one can find an image I'll attempt to describe the crouching position. Beringer kneels on his left knee, with his right leg out straight in front of him, and slight to the outside. This enables to him to have a low ceter of gravity and mak balancing easier and accuracy greater then standing/crouching.

    I intend to add more puches/pockets etc to the Winter and the *CENSORED* units. The AI dont lower the goggles at night automatically, but will be able to "see" if you manually lower them using the method of init animation triggering.

    OK, good news and bad news. Bad News: I'm postponing the release of v2.0 However, Good News: I plan to include a lot of extra features/units such as Winter Recon units, with textures thanks to The FDF Mod (version 1.1 of which is out, the patch at least). Images of the Winter Recon units can be found at http://sjb.ofpr.com/srt2/Units/Images/. Feedback on the new units is welcome. Other new units are planned, but I'm keeping them under my hat until nearer release.

    To answer your questions in order: CanadianTerror - I intend to release around Christmas, but failing that it'll be very early next year. blackdog~ - Yes, other versions of the HMMWV are planned, and yes I will use the BIS textures (as visible on the site). Lt_Phoenix - The SRTs will come with M4s, which I may update to include the various versions from the OLD M4 pack at a later time. - Weapons with flashlights etc. are planned. - The bug has been voiced before and has since been fixed. Thanks for feedback.

  22. The Special Reaction Team (SRT) Pack is finally completed. A detailed list of the weapons and units contained within the pack can be found at: http://sjb.ofprc.net/SRT2/ But, here is quick run-down of the weapons the pack contains: - Beretta 92F, - Colt M1911, - H&K MP5 SD2, - H&K MP5-K, - H&K MP5-N, - 8 x M16A2 variants including Silenced, and several camoflagued versions, - M24 Sniper Rifle, - M82A1 Sniper Rifle (.50 calibre), - 4 x M4 Variants including basic M4, M4 SOPMOD (with ACOG scope), M4 SOPMOD (with Reflex * sight) and an M4 with M203 Grenade Launcher, - M14 in woodland camo. The list of units is too long to list here, so check out the site and see a small sample of whats included (more have been added since that part of the site was last updated). The news section of the site, as well as the downloads section of course, has a link to the full Public BETA of the addon. The file is 19.3MB (in .cab format) so I advise the use of some kind of download manager such as GetRight or Download Accelerater Plus (D.A.P.) both of which can resume broken downloads. Any feedback is welcome here. It has been described by some who have already downloaded as "well worth it" ;) Cheers

    Help with googles

    For vehicle proxies etc. OFP uses the highest numbered LOD (e.g. 0.350). So, to prevent the goggles etc being visible by the player when inside a vehicle, simply remove all faces that are angled towards the face and head on the 0.350 LOD. This is sometimes not possible, so have an eventhandler (defined in the config.cpp) that will raise the goggles and/or remove chin-strap/helmet (setobject texture commands or some such) when you get inside a vehicle. Then have another one to add them when you get out of the vehicle once again.
  25. Well what would you say if I said ive made my own model and asked permission to use DeadMe@t's M249 textures ? If thats waht you call stolen well I don't see why you arent saying anything about the High Detail Weapon pack ... ...maybe because INQUISITOR gave credit to EVERYONE's work he used...
