First of all, why should I make a profit from releasing VBS1 addons? Second of all, thats not Hitman's M4, it was originally made by SAS.STU and -X-, whom I gained permission from (eventually) to edit and re-texture it. The camo textures are edits of the original textures, and the scope is hand-made by me.

I think that just about answers your question...before you even asked it actually Anyway, I just uploaded a couple of images, one is of the suppressed M4A1 with M203 and SN-6 optic, and the other is of the suppressed camouflaged M4A1 with SN-6 as mentioned above. Check them about below: - Suppressed M4A1 with M203 and SN-6 Optic - Suppressed camouflaged M4A1 with SN-6 Optic
-
Well Gordy, I took your comment under consideration, and have added an SN-6 optic by U.S. Optics to an M4 variant of each type (Basic M4A1, Suppressed M4A1, M4A1 with M203 and Suppressed M4A1 with M203). I've also given it a camouflaged finish, and added it to the camo M4A1 everyone seems to be complaining about because it doesn't have an optic...Well now it does! Screenshots to come ASAP
-
OK then, no problem. My memory isn't what it used to be, so I must have forgotten about you contacting me. I apologise if my post has since given anyone the impression you stole my work, which as we have now established IS NOT the case.
-
Well, I am currently developing a VBS1 version of the addon, whereby I can use the textures without any repercussions. Once that is completed, I will begin 'fixing' it for OFP.
-
I was considering putting an optic on it, however that presented several issues. 1) If I put an ACOG 4X32 Day optic on it, there will always be at least 50 people whinging that I didn't put an aimpoint or an Elcan on it. 2) If I put an Aimpoint on it, there will always be at least 50 people whinging that I didn't put an Acog or an Elcan on it. 3) If I put an Elcan on it, there will always be at least 50 people whinging that I didn't put an Acog or an Aimpoint on it. ETC. So in an attempt to 'please' everyone (an impossible task in many game communities, including this one), I planned to leave it with just iron-sights. If a commonly agreed optic can be discussed here, I will add that optic, if not, then it'll stay as it is.

The snipers look IDENTICAL to my (SJB's) SEALs BETA 1.0 released a while back, they have exactly the same chest-rig (made by Skeg) and the same boot textures from the 'Nam Pack, courtesy of Ebud. Only thing that looks different is the face and the ghillie material that has been added. They even have the same straps on their legs. Here are two images for comparison:

I investigated this, and found that the unit will fire at the gun itself, not necessarily the gunner - as is the case with most weapons if given the order to target fixed weapon emplacements. Although each time I ordered my Marksman to engage from various angles in relation to the M2, within 3 or 4 shots the gunner was dead at ranges of roughly 300m.
-
Hmm, I'll look into that. In other news, my FTP access now works, so I'll be able to upload screenshots of the update weapons in the next few days.
-
*sigh* My point is, its not perfectly silenced. It only reduces noise and flash immissions of the weapon by roughly 30db. If you don't like it tough, I'm not changing it, so just live with it.
-
Indeed that is the case, the weapons are not as silenced as the BIS HK, but that is intended. The detection values are reduced by a considerable amount ("visibleFire=15" and "audibleFire=15" for the regular M4, compared to "visibleFire=3.75" and "audibleFire=1.5" for the suppressed M4s), but not as far as the BIS HK, which is almost completely silent. The M4s, due to their lack of integrated suppressor (its an attachment), is not as effective as that of the MP5. As far as I know that is correct, but I may be wrong.
-
In other news, my FTP access to the site is acting up, so I an currently unable to upload new images of the updated weapons. I'll upload them as and when I am able to do so.
-
I will try to add JAM compatibility to v2.0 of the pack (it will be in the form of another PBO file, so it can be optional and not mandatory). I looked into the 'M14 SOPMOD' and I decided not to include it in the pack.
-
Of course it is, I suggested it in the first place over on your SEAL's thread
-
Some of the textures are (and the stock/receiver are), but the fore-grip etc is home made. The original authors will be fully credited (and permission has been gained where possible).
-
OK, in order: - Holo sight - I've just made it editing the BAS M4 from the SOAR Pilot addon after Architeuthis mentioned it would be a good idea to include it. (Permission pending). - Aimpoint (Already included) - Acog (Already included) - Scope (No plans to include anything other than the one currently featured on the Marksman M4) - Back-up iron-sight (Already included) - Elcan - I've just made one using the textures from the KMM Diemaco Pack after discussion over MSN with Fransden who wanted one on an M4 SOPMOD. (Permission pending). That just about covers it :P BoweryBaker: I may include an MP5-K/PDW

I'll see what my scripter and I can come up with, but no promises.

For wearing/removing the NVGs/Helmets/whatever its just a matter of using the 'setobjecttexture' command. If you'll recall I had an animated gasmask (could be worn and taken off) in my old SRT Pack, which I never got around to finishing. The perfect example I can think of for best use of setobjecttexture is the UK Forces DPM pack, with all the combinations of beret, helmet, goggles, etc.
-
I'll consider the idea, but thats not a guarantee.

Quicker than I anticipated, I've managed to round up some screenshots (I'd forgotten I'd already posted about these on my SJB Forums. - M249 PARA: http://sjb.ofpr.com/tos/weapons/images/SJB_TOS_M249_Para.jpg - AKS-47: http://sjb.ofpr.com/tos/weapons/images/SJB_AKS-47.jpg - MP5-SD6: http://sjb.ofpr.com/tos/weapons/images/SJB_TOS_MP5SD6_NEW.jpg - M4A1 with Modified Cobra sight: http://sjb.ofpr.com/tos/weapons/images/SJB_TOS_M4A1_ModCobra.jpg I'll probably post more screenshots sometime this weekend.

Well, the units are on hold as you know, but the weapons are not. Progress is still being made fine tuning existing models and adding new weapons. Yes, you heard...well read it at least...the weapons pack is expanding. In my efforts to make the weapon pack more inclusive, broadening my horizons from ONLY weapons featured in the 'Tears of the Sun' film, I've decided to include several other weapons in the pack, that weren't necessarily featured in the film, but a Special Forces/SEAL Team might use in the field. They include (but are not limited to) the following: - AKS-47, - H&K MP5-N, - H&K MP5-SD6, - M14, - M249 PARA (A modification of the existing M249 with the 'soft' ammo bag), - M4A1 (Reflex sight), - M4A1 (Modified Cobra sight). I'll post screenshots soon.

Nice looking units guys, they are looking very promising, and will look great alongside my SEALs (if/when I ever get around to completing them). If you'd like to borrow any weapons from my pack to save you having to make your own (I have several variations of the MK43 Mod 0, M60E3s, etc.) just let me know. Keep up the good work.

Over at http://sjb.ofpr.com/dms2/ SJB has released the public BETA of the largely secretive addon that I have been working on for the past few weeks - Designated Marksman System (or DMS) Rifles. The original DMS pack by SJB started over a year ago, and was released as part of the Lost Brothers Mod and then only consisted of the M16A2-E3. It was soon afterwards scrapped when the Lost Brothers (LoBo) mod seemed to vanish after Vipersheart (leader of the mod), joined the armed forces. Since LoBo's revival a few months ago, I, Jackal326, decided to continue my work on this pack, and have added 3 new weapons to it - versions I intended to add to the update of the first version, but never got around to. The addon contains 4 weapons, each with a Trijicon 4x32 ACOG Day Optic. They are: - M16A2-E3, - CAR-15/Colt Commando, - M4 (fixed carrying handle), - M4A1 (with flat top receiver). The units carrying the weapons can be found under: WEST > SJB - Weapons Now I know there will be people complaining about more M16/M4 rifles, but these are variations that haven't been done before, that I felt like releasing. If you dont want more M4/M16 variations, then dont download them, simple as that. Anyway, its a public BETA, so dont forget to post feedback/CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

Maybe in a future version, of if I have time......we'll see

Its still being worked out, I'll post news as and when I get it. Cheers for your patience guys.
